Weimaraners

Judge: Gary Scobell (Samoravich)

In the years since I last judged I feel that the breed has become a little more diversified, there being some distinct differences in type and appearance, Movement overall was good and it was good to have so many quality exhibits, Bitches were in my opinion stronger than dogs with some fabulous females present making some of my decisions very tough. When I last judged I was impressed by the quality of some of the youngsters and they do seem to have gone on and grown into very nice adults, I did notice some rounder feet than is typical and breeders must be careful to not lose the required hare foot.

DOGS

Minor Puppy dog (1 entries)

1st: Alcorn and Ingram’ “Gunalt Roger That (A.I)” , Well grown at 8 ½ months with a super clean outline, well balanced bone and substance, masculine head with good proportions and correct ear length and set, Front parallel and strong when viewed head on, nicely angulated front assembly which matched the rear angulation giving him great balance on the move. Enough forechest and ribs extending back to a firm loin giving him the correct level topline when standing and moving, tail carried well and and easy ground covering gait. Best Puppy in Breed.

Puppy dog (1 entries)

1st: Sayer and Wallwork’ “Braefell Blackthorn” 10 months puppy with balanced outline, growing nicely with everything in proportion. Pleasing head with excellent eye and ear set giving him a very typical expression, Clean neck into the shoulder, firm topline and body developing well, no exaggerations, super tail set and carriage when moving, I would prefer a little more angulation front and rear but he is in proportion and moved well.

Junior Dog ( 3 entries )

1st: Longbottom’ “Gunalt Beehave JW” headed a really strong class of excellent juniors, masculine yet refined and super clean outline, super head and expression with good strength through the muzzle but without any coarseness, clean flowing lines through the neck and topline, well matched angulation front and rear, ribs well dropped to the elbow, firm loin and well muscled behind, the steadiest on the move which gave him the edge.

2nd: Phillips’ “Rivertone Retrograde” another strong and masculine junior with excellent attributes, well balanced with super angulation giving him an impressive side gait, body developing nicely with firm loin and strong topline, in rock hard condition, but today just a little more erratic coming and going than 1.

3rd: Hill’ “Weipowa Double O’seven JW”

Post Graduate Dog (3 entries 2 absent)

1st: Withers’ “Aladdin’s Genie” 2 ½ years moderately sized dog with a pleasing head and expression, nice balance of bone and substance, firm through the body and loin, moderately angulated, nice side profile when moving but a little close behind when going away, Tail set and carriage ok.

Limit Dog (4 entries)

1st: Phillips’ “Moon Shadow By Atria Cordis Rivertone (Pol Imp) well grown 15 months male, excellent proportions and shape, well matched angulation which gave him super reach and drive, body well developed and strong all through with super muscle, he does have a tendency to overstretch himself on the stack so care must be taken that he does not seem too extreme. Moved well to head the class.

2nd: “Aladdin’s Genie” As previous class.

3rd: Spavins’“Ashtern Delphinius”

Open Dog (3 entries)

A super strong class of 3 well deserved Champions.

1st: Charlish’ “Sh Ch Gunalt The Hangover JW” 3 years and presented in fabulous condition, super masculine head without coarseness, strong through the jaw and muzzle with correct depth of flew, excellent eye and expression, ears of correct length and set correctly, clean through the neck into well angulated shoulders, good depth and spring of rib, firm loin and correct rear angulation with an excellent second thigh, correct feet and moved with precision. CC and Best of Breed

2nd: Simpson’ “CH Sireva Emeyefive JW” a striking male who I awarded best puppy in show as a baby, he has not disappointed as an adult, Presented in super toned condition he is hard to ignore, clean lines and well matched angulation, correct amount of bone and substance, Typical head and expression with good depth of flew and well placed ears of correct length, body strong and firm through the loin, well developed rear and excellent topline and tail well set, just lost out on the move where he was not quite as fluent as 1, happy to award him the RCC.

3rd: Isherwood’ “Sh Ch Hunalt Schweppes at Caleydene JW”

Veteran Dog Dog (2 entries 1 absent)

1st: Perez’ “Sh Ch Gunalt By Ek At Soncaro (ai)” at 11 years old he is still a shining example of a Long Haired Weimaraner, Balanced all through, masculine and refined head with lovely ear featherings, clean neck into good shoulder placement, firm through the body and carrying the correct amount of coat, well balanced angulation gave him super easy fluid movement, so good to see he is still in fantastic condition, Best Veteran in Breed.

Special Beginners Dog or Bitch (2 entries 1 absent)

1st: Spavin’ “Weipowa Wild Flush for Ashstern” what a delightful baby girl, just six months and starting out well, a picture of balance stood with correct angulation fore and aft which she maintained when moving, body developing correctly for her age and growth stage.

BITCHES

Minor Puppy bitch (1 entries)

1st: Spavin’ “Weipowa Wild Flush for Ashstern” As previous class

  Puppy bitch (3 entries)

1st: Grime’ “Ansona Calamity Jane” at 11 months she reminded me of some females of many years ago, moderate all through super head and expression, clean neck and strong front assembly, ribs well sprung and firm loin, good balance of bone, when viewed side on she gave a balanced typical outline, lovely side gait on the move.

2nd: West’ “Gunalt Frequency (a.i)” Larger all through than 1, well up on leg which left her a little unbalanced in outline and at that awkward stage of development where her body still needs to fill and ribs to spring, handler must be careful as she has a tendency to overstretch, at this stage she was just a little erratic on the move but you cannot rush maturity.

3rd: Sayer and Wallwork’ “Braefell Briar”

Junior bitch (4 entries)

A very mixed class of pleasing juniors with some very old-fashioned types present which was nice to see

1st: Withers’ “Sunshine of Your Love” the most balanced in the class at this stage, lovely head and expression, strong neck and good shoulders, ribs well sprung and firm loin, level topline held well on the move, clean mover coming and going.

2nd: Jefferies “Rivertone Aurora over Silbermeer” I really liked her head, feminine and aristocratic, not quite as balanced as 1 and in season so a little soft at this stage of her development, meaning she was less together on the move than 1

3rd: Simpson’ “Sireva Emseesee”

Post Graduate Bitch (4 entries)

1st: Hill’ “Weipowa Ida JW” at 22 months the best and cleanest mover in this class, she scored on her super front to beat the winner of the previous class into 2nd place. Presented in super fit condition with excellent mucle tone, ribs well sprung and firm through the body, clean level topline and correct tail set and carriage.

2nd: 1st: Withers’ “Sunshine of Your Love”

3rd: Radford’ “Schonhund Show Faith”

Limit Bitch (7 entries)

A very strong class with several bitches capable of taking the top spot.

1st: Alcorn & Ingram’ “Gunalt Mixer”  powerful and graceful, balanced angulation with excellent reach and drive, aristocratic head and clean strong neck, body well developed, strong loin and level topline, correct tailset and carriage, easy ground covering movement. THESE COMMENTS COULD BE APPLIED TO ALL OF THE FIRST THREE IN THIS CLASS but decisions must be made and the winner scored on femininity and her expression but I would not be surprised to see these girls all change places.

2nd: Longbottom & Milby’ “Gunalt Curtain Call JW” see comments on 1st place

3rd: Pilatova’ “Sabsky Svratka” see comments on 1st place

Open Bitch (6 entries)

Another class full of quality and the most hotly contested class of the day

1st: Ingram’ “Gunalt Chattering” A new one to me, presented a picture of balance and moderation, everything where it should be, powerful yet feminine and refined, Beautiful head and expression, clean lines and without exaggeration, I could watch her move all day as her footfall is so precise, she reminded me of a famous big winner from this kennel many years ago, I really could not fault her performance or conditioning, I think she is very special, delighted to award her the CC and she pushed the male hard in the challenge for Best of Breed.

2nd: Tierney’ “Sh Ch Gunalt Elderflower at Greyfurs JW” another fabulous girl who was unlucky to come up against 1 on such fine form, similar comments apply to both as far as construction is concerned, she is Weimaraner from nose to tail, strong yet feminine with ability to do a days work if required, typical head and clean neck into well muscled and correctly angulated front, body strong and firm, rear well developed to provide her with super drive, tail held with confidence and again with no exaggeration a picture of moderation and balance, delighted to award her the RCC

Veteran Bitch (2 entries)

Two really sound veterans who could compete in any competition.

1st: Anderton’ “Tatze Bewitched by Thrihyrne” another very typical Long Hair with correct coat and feathering, larger all through than 2 but this is typical of many Long Haired Weimaraners, everything balanced and in proportion. Loved her head and clean lines, Super fit conditioning and moved out with purpose and style

2nd: Dobbs’ “Oakswarren Ice Maiden” another super fit veteran in the best of condition, Typical outline and everything in moderation, pleasing feminine head, clean neck into well laid shoulders, clean lines all through and well matched angulation gave her an easy ground covering action.
