Samoyeds

Gary Scobell (Judge)

Firstly I would like to thank Manchester for the invitation to award my first set of CC’s in the breed, all the exhibitors for their entries and the sporting manner in which my decisions were received.

Overall I found some variation in the breed. Presentation was generally excellent, and I feel blessed to have had some super quality dogs which gave me some difficult decisions to make.

Only a couple of points to note, some weak pasterns and loose hocks, Both male and female challenges had some serious contenders.

Minor Puppy Dog (1 entry)

1st:  Helm’ “Annecy’s Mischievous Max” at just 8 months obviously has a lot of growing up to do, well presented coat of good texture, lovely smiling expression well furred correctly placed ears, clean neck and decent topline, nice plumed tail carried correctly, still very loose in hock and also on the move which could improve with maturity.

Puppy Dog (2 entries/1 absent)

1st: Richardson Wright’ “Santaviga Another Jedi” 11 months male who presented a lovely balanced picture, masculine but still refined without any coarseness, presented in super plush coat of correct texture. Moderate bone and well muscled for a youngster. Wedge shaped head is delightful, thick well furred ears. Nice depth of muzzle and correct bite. Clean arched neck and well angulated front assembly. Parallel front, firm pasterns and hare feet. Body developing well, strong through the loin into nicely angulated hindquarters with well let down hocks. Profuse tail correctly set and carried. Moved well when settled but still full of youthful vigor. Best Puppy In Breed

Junior Dog (2 entries/2 absent)

Post Graduate Dog (2 entries/1 absent)

1st: Hopkins Navratilova’ “Holy Archie Orleansnow (imp CZE)” 19 months male of good size and stature, well balanced throughout and presented in super body condition, outer jacket has a slightly longer cast and is of the correct texture and a full undercoat will make this stand off more, Tail well set and carried correctly. Beautiful masculine refined head, well placed deep brown eyes, strength through the muzzle with close fitting lip and correct bite, excellent pigmentation. neat well set thick ears all combining to give the breed required smiling expression. Strong well arched neck and nicely developed body, firm loin and well muscled rear, excellent bone and substance. Balanced angulation front and rear giving him a clean and easy ground covering action. I was delighted to award him the CC (his first I believe) and Best opposite Sex.

Limit Dog (4 entries)

1st: Tarasinska’ “Siberianmist Odin” 2.5 year old well made with super coat and conditioning. Super masculine wedge head with neat well furred ears, well set kind eyes and strong muzzle, nothing coarse or overdone about him, strong neck with profuse mane, I would just prefer a touch longer neck, shoulders well placed, good front and nice balance of bone and firm pasterns. Ribs well sprung and strong loin. Rear strong and with excellent muscle tone, tail well set and carried correctly, moved out stylishly.

2nd: Dodds’ “Bondsmoor Autumnal Breeze” another stylish male with super outline, balanced angulation, decent amount of bone, correct hare feet. well developed body and good neck, moved out with style, just preferred the head and expression of 1
