Three Counties Championship Show 9th June 2024
I would like to thank the committee for the opportunity to judge at this lovely venue. I had a super selection of dogs and was offered great hospitality before, during and after the show.
Thank you to all the exhibitors who gave me the opportunity to judge their dogs. It is hugely appreciated that you think my opinion is worthy of the expense in entering a show. Thank you for accepting my decisions on the day.
All exhibits were presented in a clean condition and temperaments were great.
Puppy Dog (2:0)
1st Darwesh’s Chanderhill Smart Edition for Elizad
I believe his name is Smartie and he is a smart, well-muscled puppy with strong head, flat skull, great expression and correct eye colour. Good coat texture and outline. A little erratic on the move but held his topline and was lovely in profile in a stand and on the move.
2nd Whitehead’s Agemera Teddy Bear at Pabiaga
Another nice puppy with correct coat texture and pleasing expression and outline. Slightly longer than one and not so settled on the move but appeared to be enjoying the occasion.
Junior Dog (1:0)
1st Slaymaker’s Perrorizado San Andres for Salvajero
Dark, expressive eye and strong pigment. Flat skull and head proportions correct. Coat of good texture and condition. This young boy needs time to mature and fill out in body.
Graduate Dog (4:0)
1st Capille’s Zorrazo Everybody Gonna Talk at Lendever
Strong head, dark eye and great mover in profile, with level topline. A little shorter in leg which makes him look longer and heavier in body, but this is not so when you get your hands on him. Well-muscled. Correct front and rear angulation. Super coat of correct texture.
2nd Wood’s Pabiagas Sergio Sinduda JW
Another lovely youngster with a strong head and coat of good texture. Preferred the rear movement of the class winner. In profile has the correct proportions and level topline with well sprung rib. He was very well presented and moved with drive.
3rd Searle’s Cravessa's Bottoms Up JW
Post Graduate Dog (2:0)
1st Capille’s Zorrazo X Factor at Lendever
Well made, strong athletic dog with flat skull and expressive eyes, deep chest, well sprung ribs and well-muscled rear end. Lovely textured coat, great profile, level topline. In the class he was a little erratic on the move at the rear but in the dog challenge I could not take my eyes off him as he pulled out all the stops. I was delighted to award him his first CC.
2nd Slaymaker’s Perrorizado San Andres for Salvajero
First in Junior dog
Limit Dog (4:1)
1st Hodgkinson-Rutherford’s Zorrazo Cool As A Cucumber
What a solid dog, strong, not heavy. Well-muscled and on the move was brisk, sound and athletic as the standard states. Coat of correct texture and well presented. Dark eye which added to the masculine head with flat skull and expressive look. Good angulation at front and rear, level topline. Pushed hard for top honours.
2nd Wood’s Chanderhill Eagle Eye Sinduda
Another strong looking dog who moved briskly keeping his level topline. Pleasing lay of shoulder and upper arm and correct angulation at the front and rear. Preferred the rear movement of class winner.
3rd Ladlow’s Josalyn Roldan El Mago
Open Dog (4:1)
This was a tough class with three lovely dogs of varying types.
1st Sh Ch/hr Ch Zorrazo Hey There Yogi Bear (Dr K & Mr M Hodgkinson-Rutherford & Rutherford)
Beautifully presented and very steady on the move, holding his strong topline and outline. Front and rear action was one of the best of the day which illustrates his well laid shoulder and correct angulations, front and rear, typical SWD profile. Well sprung rib. Not as long in body as some other exhibits but when you get your hands on him, the correct proportions apply. Broad flat skull, this dog is all male but with such an expressive look. Pleased to award him the RCC.
2nd Janamorio Northern Arlo (Mr A & Mr J Preece & Cooper)
This boy has matured since I last judged him, and he is a strong, powerful but athletic dog who is a joy to go over. Strong head with correct flat skull and proportions. Eye colour and pigmentation tone with coat colour. Broad chest accentuated by his white coat at the front. He has a good lay of shoulder and upper arm, well sprung ribs and well-muscled rear. I preferred the rear angulation on 1 but both these dogs were lovely to get “hands on”. Excellent presentation, coat was harsh and well prepared.
3rd Sh Ch Josalyn Rio Ziggystardust via Janamorio (Ms J Peart)
Veteran Dog (1:0)
1st Affleck-Carter’s Nelsonandaluza de Ubrique: A dog I have judged before and still looking good at 9. Well-muscled, correct flat skull, pleasing dark eye. Steady on the move and athletic for his years.
Puppy Bitch (5:0)
1st Masrtinez’s Bullbrothers Miracle
What a beautiful puppy and one I could have taken home. Still sporting her rich brown puppy coat but this did not detract from her shape and good angulation at the front and rear. Feminine head, correct eye colour and dentition. Lovely movement for a baby and maintained her topline and I loved her profile on the stand. Happy to award her BPIB.
2nd Parackova’s Agemera Dotty
Unfortunately, it was difficult to go over this youngster as she was a little tense but when settled, she moved well with a good outline, level topline, with drive and reach. Correct coat in great condition. Feminine Head and expressive look.
3rd Napier’s Agemera Ginni Come Lately to Josalyn
Junior Bitch (4:0)
1st Hodgkinson-Rutherford’s Zorrazo from Pennies to Riches for Chanderhill (Imp Hrv)
This youngster caught my eye as she entered the ring and did not disappoint. Coat was correct in texture and well presented without being overdone. Strong head, with dark eye and good pigmentation. Neck set into well laid shoulders and super angulation both at the front and rear resulting in a smooth athletic action on the move. She had drive from the back and reach at the front. She was the best mover of the day and a traditional type. I was pleased to award her first CC and BOB.
2nd Searle’s Rommy De Ubbadat (Imp Esp) JW
Eye catching girl and another lovely youngster, she fought hard for top honours. A little longer in the leg to 1. Great movement and profile, keeping a firm topline. Strong but feminine head, with good eye colour and expression. On the move was brisk and athletic. Long tail which had correct set and was carried well. Excellent handling and presentation.
3rd Capille’s Lendever's Above and Beyond
Graduate Bitch (3:0)
1st Bright’s Sierrasalvas Calabaza
Nice Brown girl, shown in well-muscled condition. Strong head, with good eye colour and oval shape. Chest deep, well sprung ribs and correct angulation at the front and rear. Held her profile and level topline on the move and the stand.
2nd Whitehead’s Pabiaga’s Santana
I have written that this youngster was exuberant, and she was certainly setting her handler a challenge on the day. Short coat and a little longer in body than one but showed correct proportions. Super head and pleasing strong muzzle.
3rd Capille’s Lendever's All Bets Are Off
Post Graduate Bitch (2:0)
1st Slaymaker’s Pabiaga Marietta at Salvajero
My notes say that this girl looked very traditional in type. A little smaller and compact than many in the ring. She moved with drive and reach. Coat of correct texture, not overdone and had loose curls which I see less often these days.
2nd Affleck-Carter’s Pia del Turco Andaluz
Good outline on the stand. Correct angulation of shoulder and upper arm. Athletic on the move but was a little unsettled today. Preferred the rear movement on the class winner.
Limit Bitch (4:2)
1st Page & Robinson’s Zorrazo Xquisite Croatian Perl at Deltoroesta (Imp Hrv)
Lovely bitch in profile on the stand and on the move. Coat in excellent condition and well presented but remaining rustic. Strong head but feminine with very expressive look. Correct angulation front and rear, lay of shoulder and upper arm and well sprung rib resulting in brisk movement with reach and drive. Very well handled.
2nd Parackova’s Bombadee Apple White to Agemera (Imp Pol)
This was a close call as this is another lovely girl. Correct shape and outline and moved well, with drive and reach. Correct angulation at front and rear. Flat skull and dark eye. Feminine head with strong muzzle.
Open Bitch (4:1)
1st Peart’s Josalyn Ria Nessa via Janamorio
A girl I have previously judged and when I referred back to what I had written 2 years ago, my opinion has not changed. In short coat today but meant I could see that there was nothing to hide. Both rear and front angulation excellent. Moved across the ground with a brisk and athletic action. Lovely head and expression.
2nd Whitehead’s Sh Ch Pabiagas Kemina
Eye catching girl, presented in full coat. Was a little unsettled but when on the move showed her true attributes. Correct angulation at front and rear and well sprung rib, held her level topline. Lovely girls and it was a close call between 1 and 2 – such different types.
3rd Northard’s Oh Sancha vom Hause Kristo (Imp Fra)
Veteran Bitch (2:0)
1st Walker’s Sh Ch Valentisimo's Tizi
Quality girl and such a traditional type. In great fit condition overall. Coat had the correct texture but was not overdone. Held her profile on the stand and on the move. Correct angulation at the front and rear. Presented and handled exceptionally well. I have judged this girl many times but today she shone, belied her years, she is now 10, and I was delighted to award her the RCC and Best Veteran.
2nd Napier’s Josalyn Juananci
This girl has been a favourite of mine for many years. She is now 14 and still moved around the ring with style and enthusiasm. Excellent head, eye colour and expression. Correct tail set and carriage. Handled sympathetically and she was a joy to go over, thank you.
