Parson Russell Terrier, Southern Counties 2024
A very pleasing entry both for numbers and for quality. I was very impressed with the main winners and thoroughly enjoyed judging this very likeable and interesting breed. Many thanks to the sporting exhibitors.
Special Beginners (2)
1. Draytogo Vienna
A very feminine bitch with obvious quality about her. She is just slightly long than high. Very typical head with excellent expression, correct length of skull and muzzle. Pleasing ears. Moderate neck. Firm topline with lightly arched loin, I would not want the tail any higher set than this. Moderate, balanced angulation both ends. She is a particularly good mover from all angles, sound coming and going and well coordinated from the side. I was pleased to see her winning the Special Beginners Terrier group.
2. Chadbrook Enhance The Dance
Another attractive bitch, she is somewhat stronger than the winner and not quite as spannable. Another with a typical head and expression. Good strength of neck, well set into shoulders. Reasonable topline, deep chest. Balanced angulation both ends. Correctly set tail. She moved quite well, if not as well as the winner.
Puppy Dog (3,2)
1. Minden Kuba
A very smart looking puppy, very promising. Beautiful head with correct stop and excellent expression. Moderate neck. Moderate, balanced angulation both ends. Easily spanned, he still needs to gain some more depth to his chest with maturity. Firm topline, well proportioned, correctly set and carried tail. A very smart mover, already parallel and very well balanced from the side. Best Puppy
Junior Dog (2)
1. Vixenview Silent Uh Sass in
A smart dog indeed and very eye-catching. He is well up on legs, but could have more length to his body for optimal balance. Excellent ears, correct stop and beautiful eyes, but I would not want a shorter muzzle. Excellent neck, well set. Correct depth. Balanced angulation both ends. Smart outline, his tail is rather high set. He is a very smart mover, sound and well coordinated. Pleasing coat. Very well presented.
2. Forgefox Roll The Dice at Hoolmark
At fourteen months old, this dog looks younger than his age and has some developing to do. Pleasing proportions, but needs to body up with maturity. Very pleasing head, good neck. Could do with some more lay-back of upper arm. Correct tailset. A reasonable mover from all angles.
Post Graduate Dog (2)
1. Heythrop Tamar
A dog of very pleasing type and quality, he is masculine without lumber. Typical head with correct length of muzzle, but I would not want any more stop than this. Good rise of neck. Correct angulation in front. Firm topline with a slight arch of loin and a well set tail. Somewhat generously angulated behind. Broken coated, his spots show through, but are not in the coat itself. A very good mover from all angles, striding out very well from the side.
2. Pacolito Multiplicity with Vixenview
Another dog of very pleasing type and quality. Strong masculine head with very pleasing expression. Good rise of neck. Firm topline, well proportioned. Reasonably set tail. Another who moved well, particuarly coming and going, parallel. Not in the best coat condition on the day and rather soft in coat. Excellent temperament.
Limit Dog (4)
1. Alncroft Hijack
Instantly attractive, very smart dog of excellent type and quality. Very pleasing proportions with enough length of leg. Typical head with correct stop and proportions. Excellent expression, very good ears. Beautiful neck, very well set into shoulders. Strong and firm topline. Strong hindquarters, well angulated. He moved very well from the side, striding out well, balanced and synchronized. OK coming and going. Very well presented. ResCC
2. Heythrop Toptag
Another very typical dog, if not quite as eye-catching as the winner. He has a good skull and ears, but I would not want a longer muzzle and he could have some more strength to it. Very good neck. Moderately angulated in front, he could put some more weight on his front legs standing. Very good topline with a slight arch of loin, well set tail. He moved well from the ide, if not quite as well as the winner, parallel coming and going. Quite good coat. Well presented.
3. Afinlea Pale Tussock
Open Dog (8,1)
1. Ch. Heythrop Task Master for Alncroft
A truly outstanding dog, I do not think the breed comes any better than this. He has everything the standard calls for, the proportions, the construction and quality in abundance. He is masculine without any lumber, ideally combining substance with quality. Strong, masculine head with excellent proportions and keen expression. Ideal body proportions. He is spannable and has the most outstanding neck into shoulders, perfectly balanced angulation. Excellent coat. An excellent mover from all angles. He is able to inherit his qualities down to his offspring and is the sire of the bitch CC and both resCCs winners as well as best junior. What a dog! CC & BOB.
2. Ch. Pacolito Resurrection JW
Another beautiful dog, younger and somewhat stronger, but still combining masculine strength and power with elegance. Typical, masculine head and expression. Excellent neck with strength. Well angulated both ends. Close to spannable, I would not want any more body than this. He has a strong topline and a well set tail. Another outstanding mover, especially from the side, but pleasing coming and going as well.
3. Patridgdale Flynn
Veteran (5)
1. Alncroft Isle See
At eight years old, this is a very smart bitch with generally high quality. She could be a little more up on legs for perfection, but has a very attractive outline. Beautiful head and expression. Very good ears. Excellent neck into shoulders. Well angulated both ends. Perfect topline with a slight arch over the loin and well set tail. She moved with energy and attitude, at all times keeping her outline. Very well handled. Best Veteran.
2. Digaden Top Hat and Tails
Another very attractive, typical dog. He is well up on legs, if rather tall. Excellent skull, beautiful expression, I would not want a longer muzzle. Very good neck, he stands well over his legs and feet. Excellent topline, correct tailset. Another very good mover from all angles.
3. Digaden Made to Measure
Puppy Bitch (7,1)
1. Deglacobs Rebecca Riot
An attractive bitch, well made, on the longer side in her back, but that contributed positively to her movement, I am sure. Attractive, very typical head and expression. Long neck, well set. Well angulated both ends. Firm topline with a slight arch over the loin, well set and carried tail. She moved soundly coming and going and strode out very well from the side. Excellent coat and colour.
2. Bellvalley’s Copperhead
A more compact bitch, actually on the shorter side, the two were quire different. Feminine head, if not quite the quality head of the winner. Excellent neck with attractive nape. Well angulated both ends. I would like some more scope to her, but she was an excellent mover from all angles, very well handled.
3. Digaden Top Tier
Junior Bitch (7)
1. Bellvalley’s Savage Love
Standing, this bitch really attracted my eye as she is very well balanced and feminine and has plenty of quality about her. Very typical head with excellent proportions and a beautiful expression. Very good neck with an attractive nape and well set into body. Well set tail. Moderate, balanced angulation both ends. She spans easily. Very good coat. Well presented. On the move she tended to parade quite a bit, but was quite sound coming and going. Best Junior.
2. Draytogo Vienna
3. Ruffntuff Tears of Joy
Post Graduate Bitch (2,1)
1. Chardbrook Enhance The Dance
Limit Bitch (5,1)
1. Digaden Matchmaker
Quite a nice bitch, feminine and well proportioned. She has an attractive head, her expression is rather stern. Strong neck, well set. She has pleasing body proportions, but could be a little firmer in her topline. Well presented. She was easily the best mover in the class and won on that.
2. Heythrop Taranna
Standing this bitch is really beautiful, well proportioned and has plenty of quality. Beautiful head and expression. Excellent neck into shoulder. Well balanced angulation both ends. Very good topline standing and with a correct tailset. Unfortunately on the move she tended to curl up, making too much of a topline and not extending as well as I would have liked.
3. Mindlen Miami
Open Bitch (10,1)
1. Bellvalley’s Kissed By Fire
A very attractive bitch, indeed lovely. She is not small, but still feminine and spannable. Attractive head and expression, even if she could make some better use of her ears. Beautiful crested neck, well set into shoulders. Firm topline, well set tail, she has a breathtaking silhouette which she keeps on the move. Fully bodied without sacrificing elegance. She stood very well over her legs and feet and moved very effortlessly with smoothness and soundness. Just outstanding. I was happy to learn that she became a champion by winning the CC.
2. Ch. Alncroft Foxtrot
A very spectacular young bitch, she is very feminine and well balanced. Very feminine, expressive head, even if I would have preferred some more length of muzzle. Excellent ears. Long and strong neck, well set into shoulders, she makes a brilliant picture standing. Ideal amount of body for her size. Well set tail, not too high. Well angulated in both ends. She retained her outline and balance on the move. Even if she was a little staccato in her movement, she is very well synchronized and also parallel coming and going. ResCC
