I would like to thank Boston for offering my first set of CCs in this breed who I hold very close to my heart. The showground was impeccable and my stewards were just brilliant, even the rain didn't spoil the day. I am honoured to have had a lovely entry of dogs and thank all of the exhibitors for being so gracious in their placings.
A few things that I found on the day that could potentially of placed some dogs in higher positions is that there are many that are carrying to much weight, out of condition and unfit, along with this there were many that were unclean, our breed is a working breed and should be exhibited in the best condition it can be. I also found that the true kind newfie expression was lacking today, maybe something we can work on as breeders.
Minor Puppy Dog (1,0)
1st Mileoak Hubble Bubble
8 Months and impressive in outline, Head is currently quite raw and waiting to fill and ears waiting to be grown into which is not unexpected at this age. He has good angulation front and rear. Good reach of neck and standing on straight parallel front legs, enough bone and body for age and correct length of rear pastern which he really uses well on the move when going away. Tail carried well creating a lovely shape in side profile movement which oozes confidence.
Junior Dog (4,1)
1st Sandbears Aerodynamic
12 Month old broad and of medium size, he was trying to give his patient mum a hard time but still he deserved to win this class, he has a great front assembly with good forechest and enough bone although I would prefer a better shaped feet. He has very good head proportions and structure and enough reach of neck. Good short loin and nicely balanced in angulation front and rear. Once settled on the move he creates a nice shape although he can carry his tail slightly high at times. I think he will have a good future. Best Special Beginner
2nd Davistell Springsteen of Elbear
14 Months and holds a good shape whilst standing with nice parallel front legs and good reach of neck, head of different proportions to 1st being slightly longer in muzzle and waiting for his head to fill. has a good body but slightly long in loin. Good positive rear movement going away and holds a good shape in profile but again another higher tail carriage than preferred. I will watch with interest as he matures.
3rd Shadowrise Fire and Ice
Yearling Dog (6,3)
1st King of Helluland Jungle Book at Shadowrise (Imp Svk) JW
This 14 Month old is very mature for his age, he has extremely good bone and really nicely shaped feet that have good depth. excellent reach of neck and scores highly in forechest for his age. Well angulated front and rear which gives a great side profile in movement. Head of good proportions and structure although more lip and jowl than preferred.
2nd Sandbears Aerodynamic

3rd Valhalabears Jibber Jabber
Post Graduate Dog (5,3)
1st Nurburgnewf Ironman
3 year old substantial brown with bone to match and good shaped and depth of foot. He stands on lovely parallel front legs and is well angulated through the shoulder. I do feel that he is carrying excess weight, however he won this class on his free action on his side profile movement. He has a very appealing head of great proportions, which is not overdone and has a good eye.
2nd Valhalabears Eternal Dream
5 year old brown boy who again would benefit from carrying less weight. He has a great profile whilst standing with good angulation in front. nice bone and feet and good structure and proportions in the head. Not as tall as first and slightly longer in loin. A little lethargic on the move today.
Limit Dog (4,0)
1st Nandobears You’ll Never Walk Alone (Imp Deu)
At nearly 2 years old this boy gave his best performance today showing himself to his best advantage. Whilst he is not the biggest he has many great qualities, he has a strong ribcage with short loin, ample bone and lovely shaped feet. He creates a lovely picture when standing with correct angulation front and rear, excellent forechest and reach of neck. His head is strong in structure and of correct proportions, if I was to be critical he is slightly heavy in padding around the muzzle but it is not enough to detract from quality all through. Where this boy really excels is on the move he is true coming toward and away and has a really positive free action showing good reach and drive in side profile, with a perfect tail carriage. He was presented in tip top condition and I was honoured to award him his crowning CC, which I am sure there will be many to follow.
2nd Grimm Black Cullinan for Cannark
3 year old happy boy who I really liked. He has an excellent profile when standing and is nice and square. He stands on parallel front legs with good front assembly, excellent forechest and enough neck, he has enough bone and lovely shaped feet. His rear is also really well angulated and he has excellent movement going away and coming although in side profile he seems restricted on the front and not reaching as much as he could. This boy had the best head of the day. It was strong, but still very clean and kind with really well shaped eyes of good colour, good set of the ears that were of correct shape. His expression is true newf of what I have known when growing up. Another one that was well presented. I think he has the potential of some high awards.
3rd Shirebears Enchanter for Edbear
Open Dog (8,0)
This was a difficult class to judge today as the exhibits were very varied. I found some exhibits to be quite narrow all through which is not expected of an older male.
1st Ch/lux Ch Gunnersnewfs Black Desire for Blackcoast
4 year old substantial dog who is heavier in head than I would normally prefer but excels in many breed points that cannot be denied. He has a good balance of being a big dog but also being broad all though. He has a great spring of rib allowing for good lung space and is nice and short in loin. He had the best bone and his feet are absolutely perfect with good depth and cat-like in shape. He doesn't race around the ring but moves with power with a nice stride although sporadically he can lose his shape on side profile, but not enough to detract from how impressive he is. He was well presented and deserved his win and RCC today.
2nd Ch Newfangled Bone Idle
This 6 year old boy is a completely different type to the class winner but he also has many breed qualities that on another day might have swapped places. He is of smaller type but still of very good size with bone and breadth to match his frame. He has a lovely profile when standing and has lovely angulation front and rear, his movement going and coming is true but didn't have as much positive movement in side profile as the winner today. He does score very highly on his kind head, really good eye shape. He is a very worthy champion and beautifully presented.
3rd Iron Man Canadian Pearl
Special Beginners Dog (3,2)
1st Sandbears Aerodynamic

Minor Puppy Bitch (4,2)
1st Mileoak Wishing On A Star
8 Months and exactly where she should be in development, she presents a lovely outline and has enough bone and good feet. Well angulated front and stands on parallel legs. Her rear is just as well angulated with nice short rear pasterns. She has a good reach of neck and her head is as we expect for age and waiting to fill. really good earset with cheeky expression although slightly round in eye, She really excels on the move and powered around the ring with style with a good tail carriage. Looking forward to seeing how she develops Best Puppy
2nd Mileoak Hocus Pocus
Another 8 month old and at a similar stage to the winner. She also had a great outline with good bone and feet. Her head was better in strength and proportion, eyes were also slightly round and showing a little haw which I am sure will rectify as her head develops. Really nice short loin and development in body, She also impressed on the move with confidence. It was a close decision, two really nice babies.
Junior Bitch (4,1)
1st Davistell Babee Love at Chrishelkate (ai)
14 month old with lots to like, whilst she is not the biggests she is a really lovely type and has a lovely outline when stacked although slightly long through the loin. She has enough bone for size, straight in front leg, good feet and well developed forechest with good reach of neck, she is balanced in angulation front and rear. Her head and expression is appealing with a really nicely shaped and tight eye, really nice proportions to the head with the correct ear set. Once settled on the move she shows great drive from the rear and good reach on side profile, very free action which won her the RCC. She still has lots to come and will watch her progress with interest.
2nd Chateaunewf Make My Day for Darebear
This 16 month old girl is a larger bitch than first and has many great qualities. She has a good length of leg which meant she could cover the ground well, Enough neck and really good front assembly. She is waiting to drop and fill in body which will come with age to finish her off into a really impressive girl. She has a nice balanced head with good structure and a kind expression. Lacking in coat today but still very well presented.
3rd Shadowrise Wild Fire
Yearling Bitch (3,0)
1st Ohoi’s About Damn Time (Imp Nor)
This 2 year old oozes breed type. She is not the biggest of girls but surely makes her presence known. An outstanding outline when stacked with a good length of neck, well developed forechest and correct angulation front and rear, she stands well in front with legs parallel and straight. She has enough bone and well shaped cat like feet. She is short through the loin and holds a level topline. She has good width in the thigh and good turn of stifle and short rear pasterns. Her head is of good proportion with a good earset. Padding on the muzzle is on the heavier side but does not spoil her overall balance in head and appealing expression. She really excels on the move and has very good rear drive, and really good reach in profile. Definitely has the attitude to show and was presented well. It was a pleasure to award her the CC and her crown. She pulled out all the stops to take BOB over the Dog and a shortlist in the group.
2nd Valhalabears Just in Time
20 month old brown who is a different shape to my winner, still presented a lovely outline although longer in body. She has good bone and stands parallel on the front and enough neck. Strong head of good proportions and clean through the muzzle. She has a good colour eye. I felt that she was carrying a little too much weight for her frame, but this didn't affect her on the move as she was true coming toward and going away, she also is good in profile.
3rd King Helluland Harley Quinn for Bearnessitie (Imp Svk)
Post Graduate Bitch (7,4)
1st Talk of The Town Du Clos Des Abysses De Provence (Imp Fra)
I really like this 20 month old as she is of good size and has a lovely shape already, even though she was out of coat and still needs to fill out. She has really good front angulation and nice straight legs, her front pasterns are currently slightly weak which shows on the move coming towards on the move, but hopefully this will improve with age. Her rear is well angulated and excels going away and in profile. another girl with a head of good proportions and nice clean eyes with good expression. She is full of life and was well handled to get the best out of her. I really hope she develops as I think she will and gets some top honours.
2nd Starcove Sister Act to Davistell
This 2 year old is of a different type to the winner and more developed in chest and slightly longer through the loin. She has excellent bone and nice cat-like feet. I would prefer her to be carrying less weight. She has a lovely head of good proportions and a very kind expression with good eye and earset. She is true going away and coming to but could make more of herself in profile on the move as she doesn't seem as free in action as she could be. That being said, she is a substantial girl with some real quality.
3rd Ceedernewf in The Forest Vodahond
Limit Bitch (10,2)
1st Saskinbears True Blue for Safeharbour JW
3 year old bitch of really good size with excellent bone and nice shaped feet. She has the most sweetest expression with good eye and nice ear shape and set, enough neck leading into a good shoulder and well angled throughout, nice shape when stacked. Good depth of body and adequate forechest. On the move she is true going away and coming to. Whilst steady in side profile she could make more of herself to show her power.
2nd King of Helluland Blue Organza
4 year old who again had a really sweet expression, her head is strong but still very clean with no excess of lip or jowl, excellent eye in shape and colour. She is a larger bitch to my winner with good bone and feet, and plenty depth to the body and strong through the loin. Very true movement coming toward and shows power in side profile although her shape is slightly spoilt with a tail carriage higher than preferred. Sympathetically handled and very well presented.
3rd Comfortcove Pixie Dust
Open Bitch (7,2)
1st Yulla for Sheenmarie von Baywatch (imp) JW
3 year old large dark brown, another girl who impresses with her substance with large bone and and cat like feet. She has a nice colour of eye for brown and good head although I would prefer a higher ear set to perfect her expression. She creates a lovely outline when stacked. She undoubtedly won this class on her impressive side profile movement showing plenty of reach and drive and perfect tail carriage showing an action that you imagine would power through water. Her out and back could have been tidier today but she is a quality girl who really shows herself.
2nd Ch Sandbears What Ya Fancy at Ravenshore
Another 3 year old of a different type to winner. Her presentation is outstanding and is shown to perfection. Her head is strong and of good proportions and she is clean in muzzle with good ear and set. I found her eye to be slightly round which spoils her expression. She stands well on a good front assembly with good forechest and width all through with nice width of thigh. She does not have the length of leg as winner and her movement in side profile is different, but she is still powerful and moves with purpose. Good movement going away although slightly untidy coming towards. A worthy Champion
3rd Darkpeak Starlight Express
Veteran Bitch (3,1)
As I have always believed you can only really judge a breed on the quality of its veterans, I was absolutely delighted with these very special ladies, two very good examples of the breed who can really show the rest how it is done, both owners should be immensely proud.
1st Ch King of Helluland Love Actually at Darebear (imp) JW ShCM ShCEx OSW
7 year old substantial girl who really has a presence in the ring, immense coat that was well prepared and in good condition. she stands proud on lovely parallel straight legs with good bone and feet. She has breadth all through and great forechest and spring of rib allowing for plenty of lung space. Really good head and melting expression Strong level topline and strong through the loin. She moved steadily around the ring holding a lovely shape and tail carriage with very clean action going away and coming to. She could really do a days work and then keep going. I considered her for the RCC but I was happy to award her Best Veteran and watched her top the Veteran group later in the day.
2nd Ch/int/lux/bel Ch Gunnersnewfs All or Nothing JW
Another 7 year old and such a lovely type. Although smaller than the winner she is still well put together with good breadth all through and the most beautiful expression and head. She is well angulated front and rear with a strong back and loin, excellent width in the thigh and nice short rear pasterns. Probably carrying more weight than needed but it wasn't enough to detract from all of her qualities. I think she was enjoying her day as she wasn't as steady on the move as my winner today but even so I think these girls could swap places quite easily.
Good Citizen Dog Scheme Bitch (2,0)
1st Newetta's Precious in Brown for Comfortcove JW (Imp Dnk)
3 year old brown girl of smaller type, She is an honest girl without the floof but is well put together with good balance. She has a good head in structure and proportion with enough neck. Nice and straight in front leg with good angulation and moderate angulation on the rear. She soundly motors round the ring and almost foot perfect going away and coming to. She is a happy girl which really showed and you cannot ignore her cheeky expression.
2nd Oukaya Forever Thanks Your Lucky Stars (Imp Fra)
2 year old substantial w&b who is quite striking when stood, she has good bone and nice cat-like feet. Quite attractive in the head with good eye shape and colour. good depth in the body and strong through the loin. good length of leg which gives her good stride in side profile movement, clean movement coming toward but slightly messy going away.
