National Working & Pastoral Breeds Society

Breed: German Pinscher

Many thanks to the committee for the invitation to judge German Pinschers at their show and to my two hard working stewards. I was delighted with my entry of 32 with just 4 absent. It has been 7 years (almost to the day) that I last judged the breed, it’s great to see so many new faces in the breed and that there are some dedicated breeders to keep the breed going.

JD (4) 1 A nice class to start the day!

1 Ellis’ Falkor Stand and Deliver, eyecatching Red male of excellent breed type and shown in gleaming coat. Correct head with super expression, dark almond shape eyes, well placed ears. Pleasing forechest and tight elbows, compact feet, standing on excellent bone. Strong into good lay of shoulder and compact body, topline is firm at all times. Correct croup. Excellent hindquarters, well muscled rear. Tail carried high at all times. A pleasing mover, covering the ground with good reach infront and strong rear drive. Best Dog and BoB and delighted to hear he won Working Group 3 later in the day. 2 Hayter’s Once Upon A Time in Arizona Star of Elune, 10 months red of excellent breed type. Pleasing head, dark eye, ears set on well. Good neck into well laid shoulder, he is slightly longer in body than 1. Firm topline. Well angulated rear. Impressed on the move, being a very sound mover with correct footfall and with more time and maturity, he’ll do well. RBD. 3 Clent’s Danixaris Earl Exemplar.

PGD (3,1) Two that could swap on another day.

1 Henderson’s Falkor Artaz, masculine Red with lots of substance. Shown in excellent condition. Correct wedge head, straight front, compact in body which won him this class. Pleasing forechest, hindquarters well muscled. Positive mover covering the ground well. 2 Lowe’s Danixaris Daydreamer, slightly longer than 1. Pleasing head, dark eye and good ears. Firm topline, good rear angulation and correct feet. Moved with good reach and drive.

LD 1 Kohlman’s Brintala Apollo Red male, stronger all-round than I would like but he is all in proportion. Pleasing head and eye, small well set ears, well developed forechest, good length to body, hocks well let down. Tail carried correctly. Moved OK in profile but slightly close behind.

OD (2) 1 Lewczuk & Mordacz Calvaxar Bad Boy Lincoln at Danixaris, 9 years Red in great condition for his age. Well built. Very smart outline when stacked. Masculine head, expressive eye, good front and rear assembly. Positive mover in profile, slightly weaker behind. Topline kept firm at all times. 2 Kohlman’s Brintala Apollo

VD (3,1) Two lovely veterans of different types.

1 Neame’s World LUX CH Aritaur Gene Genie, an old favourite of mine, still eager to show at his 12 years. Beautiful head and dark oval eye, well set ears. Strong neck into good lay of shoulder and compact body. Correct set tail. Moved out soundly BVD. 2 Duncan and Gilder’s Goodsouls Mr Brightside, 8 years black and tan, finer than 1. Pleasing head & eye, good neck. Slightly longer in body than 1. Good rear angulations. Moved well with good reach and drive.

SBD/B 1 Unsworth and Williams Brintala Tallulah Rose, 4 years, well made Red. Pretty head with good expression. Dark oval eye. Good front. Pleasing rear angulation. She moved OK, she could do with some ringcraft.

JB (6) A well filled class of Pinschers at different stages of development.

1 Hayter’s Maxallys Andromeda, easy winner of this class today. 10 months red, beautiful wedge shape head, dark oval eye and good earset. Strong neck, into well laid shoulder and good length to body. Strong topline which remains firm on the move. Correct tailset and carried high. Really positive mover with good reach and drive, really well handled by her young handler. RBB, BPIB and shortlisted in the Puppy Group. 2 Lawrence and Ellis’ Falkor Poetry In Motion, 18 months Black and Tan, smaller than 1 but all in proportion. Feminine head and expression, dark oval eye, ear set OK. Good front and well laid shoulders, firm topline and well muscled hindquarters. Free mover. 3 Walton’s Brintala’s Queen of Hearts

PGB (2) Neame’s Unforgettably Remembrall Rocio, 4 years red, eager show girl in excellent condition. Feminine head and expressive eye, Compact body, firm topline, well angulated rear. Tail carried correctly. Very sound on the move. 2 Unsworth’s and Williams Brintala Tallulah Rose

L(1) 1 Lewczuk and Mordacz.s Danixaris Cherry Blossom, 4 year B/T Good size and well balanced. Nice wedge shaped head, dark oval eye. Short in body and topline could be firmer. Moved slightly close behind today.

OB (5,3) Nice class.

1 Harvey Miller’s Falkor’s Little Mazikeen at Kariwight, quality red of a good size, well balanced throughout. Feminine head with dark oval eye and correctly set ears. Elegant neck into good shoulders and compact body. Pleasing depth to body. Lovely sound mover fore and aft. Close up in the challenge. 2 Wakefield’s Croat CH Brintala Angel Lynn, 4 years red, longer cast and not the substance of 1 today. Feminine head. Well set ears. Well angulated rear. Moved soundly. 3 Smith’s Inxs Written In The Stars.

VB (2) 1 Ellis’ Goodsouls Rumour Has It It’s Falkor, where to begin? I last judged her at her very first show, almost 7 years to the day, in the same ring, as a bouncy 6-month-old puppy where I awarded her BIS and look what she has gone on to since then. I still love her today as I did then. She has the most lovely head with the correct wedge shape, darkest of eye and well set ears. Strong neck into well laid shoulders and compact body. Well angulated rear and correct topline. She has such fluid movement and covers the ground well. This was a full circle moment for sure. Shown in excellent condition. Delighted to award her Best Bitch, again, and Best Veteran, only beaten for BOB by her beautiful son. 2 Harvey-Miller’s Java Le Coupe-de-couer des Fringant Complices Falkor, 9 years and the mother of the winner, and you can certainly see where she gets her qualities from and many of the comments apply. Just a bit slower in movement than her daughter.
