Havanese Club of GB Championship Show 20th Oct 2024

Thank you very much for the invitation to judge Havanese at the HCGB Championship Show held at a super venue with a nice sized ring to asses the movement. All exhibits were well presented and it was great that all displayed lovely happy temperaments. Fronts have improved but I am concerned that some breeders are unable to understand the required height to length requirements of the KC Standard: ‘slightly longer in body than height at the withers’, this is really important as Havanese are not long bodied dogs. Thank you all for a lovely entry and your good sportsmanship, I thoroughly enjoyed judging some lovely Havanese.

Puppy Dog 3 very promising puppies

1. Thorne. Ballemos Piano Man At Dyffrynsands - Dark eye and correct pigment, appealing head proportions and correctly balanced body, sound all round and carrying a very profuse well presented puppy coat, once settled moved with a free and springy gait RBPIS.

2. Milles. Adorele Storming to Glory- Very eye catching puppy both in coat and colour, masculine in head with correct eye and dentition, at this stage of development he is slightly long in body proportions, but certainly moved round the ring with a brisk and accurate gait

3. Carter. Newtonwood Rock With You. Nicely balanced puppy just needs lots more time to mature.

Limit Dog

1. Brooks. Thistlesweet Atreyu (imp hun) JW. - Mature 2 year old with super head proportions eye and dentition, a very typical male who has correct body proportions, well sprung ribs and sound with a springy step, all finished with a beautifully presented coat.

2. Young Newpark Petite Indien Rouge - Another well balanced male, who has many attributes of 1st, masculine with good pigment, correct length of neck, topline and croup, just lacking a little substance, moved well.

1. Hillier & King Askin Whats The Buz At Charson (imp USA) Super 5 year old grey & white who immediately takes your eye. Just the right size, well proportioned head and muzzle and lovely dark eyes, correct length of neck and topline with required rise over loin. His angulation front and rear allows for a typical free and springy action, his correct length to height ratio give a really superb out line and he is finished with a beautifully presented silky coat. One from the top drawer I was delighted to award him DCC and BIS

2. Harris. Tiggafield Jack Flash At Mantafield - This 6 year old is another super exhibit, he is a masculine boy with an appealing head, lovely dark eye and correct bite, overall he has a correct outline with good bone and is very sound, another well presented abundant coat, just didn’t pull all the stops out on the move to pip the winner.

3. Miles. Velvet Story ‘N Bada Best Hurricane.

1. Tarff. Ch & Bel Ch Newpark Dream Lover - What a great 8 ½ year old veteran, he has a super masculine head and the darkest eye and pigment, sound, strong and sturdy without coarseness, well angulated front and rear and the silkiest coat of the day that gleamed as he moved around the ring with his springy action. RDCC & BVIS

Minor puppy bitch

1. Thorne. Dyffrynsands Tiger Lily.- Such a pretty 8 month old with and appealing head and expression, medium length of neck, she is correctly balanced and is sound throughout, very immature in coat at present but I am sure will have a bright future.

2. Barnes Coco Velvet - Different in type this 7 month old chocolate bitch is compact and substantial in body, feminine in head with correct pigment and her coat developing well.

Puppy bitch

1. Fitzgerald. Adorele Put A Spell On You- A pleasing sable & white 11month old with lots to like, such a sweet well proportioned feminine head with correct eye, muzzle and bite, she is well balanced and just sets up naturally with a ‘look at me’ attitude that cannot be overlooked. Presented with a beautiful silky coat. Pleased to award her BPIS

2. Cooper. Elperrito Bright Light - Very eye catching b/w of the same age, feminine head with the darkest of eye and good bite, presents a typical shape and is sound all round, well angulated and very nicely presented, a close decision and a promising future.

2. Young. Newpark Alice In Wonderland - B/W 14 month old ultra feminine girl with pleasing head, she is well constructed and balanced. Presented with a beautiful profuse and silky coat, just not wanting to settle on the move today.

1. Szczerba. Emi Alcado (imp pol) Very feminine 2 year old with such an appealing head of correct proportions, her overall construction in correct and she is sound all round, given time and more maturity in body and coat this bitch should develop and have a bright future in the ring.

Limit Bitch

1. Smith. Elperrito Simply Magic- A 3 ½ year old bitch with a pleasing head and correct bite, medium length of neck and firm topline with required rise over loin. Correct length to height ratio and sound all round, springy movement in unison with her handler.

2. Clements. Another very nice feminine bitch with many of the attributes of 1st well balanced and substantial carrying a good coat, lost out on movement today.

1. Thackery. Tiggafield All That Jazz - Ultra feminine typical Havanese who oozes quality, the prettiest of heads with dark eyes and correct dark pigment. Super front and rear, correct level topline with rise over loin, her lines just flow and present you with a beautiful image in stance, with a superb silky immaculately presented coat she flowed around the ring and could not be denied BCC and RBIS A credit to her breeder /owner.

2. Russell. Dyffrynsands Destinys Day To Claravi - Hot on the heels of the winner another beautiful feminine 6 year old with so much quality, the most pleasing head and sweet expression with dark eye and pigment, she is sturdy in her typical frame with a most pleasing profuse jacket, so sound and accurate with her springy stride, a close decision and well deserved RCC.

Kamilla Mano Pupslukas (imp Lu ) - At 7 year old presents a lovely correct outline with the required length to height ratio, Feminine with nice head, eye and bite, she has correct bone and is substantial in body with an eye catching coloured coat. Sound all round and moved well around the ring. RBVIS
