Tibetan Terriers

Dee Ford (Setrique)

Firstly, my thanks to Boston Championship for asking me to award CCs for the first time, your support has been invaluable. My two stewards were incredibly able and always ensured the smooth running of the ring, for which I was very grateful.

I last judged prior to the pandemic and, since I have only starting showing another TT myself in the last 2 years, it has been some years since I have had hands on any other dog than my own. In the main, our breed is showing that we are able to produce a dog that meets the breed standard pretty much as they should be and previously poor shoulders are definitely phasing out. I was, however, disappointed to note that we are allowing weak heads, muzzles and, particularly, chests. The breed standard is clear in that the breed should have “fair spring of rib with depth of brisket to elbow”, and this was not the case in all examples shown to me. Nevertheless, I was extremely pleased with the quality presented.

MPD (1,0)

1. Tiamastae Regale (Mrs C Charlesworth) – b&w with square outline, strong neck and head, showing a pleasant outline when on the move, though he was a little spirited when he did! Lots to like.

PD (3,2)

1. Renvall’s Licence to Dill for Regenka (Mrs G Du Cros) – w&b, 9mths old, up to size but still in proportion throughout. Strong head of correct proportions, with strong jaw and correct black pigmentation. On the move he showed his superb rear angulation and whilst he kept his handler occupied, he moved very well.

JD (3,0)

1. Jalren Midnight Runner (Mrs R Thurston) Gold and White. 14 mths old. Square in outline, with a super chest to elbow, just as it should be. Carries correct head of good proportions down a strong neck to sound, level topline, and the movement round the ring showed how well he is made behind, too. Definitely one to watch for the future.

2. Zilcan Legend of Gelert with Lottanber (Mr L & Mrs C Thorold) B&W boy of just 12 months of age, shows a little more immaturity in body than 1 and needs time to develop. Coat in excellent condition and of good size and shape, particularly liked his movement and would like to see him again in the future to see if he has come on.

3. Araki Fibber Magee at Evemylyn (Mr & Miss Hedger & Bourne)

YD (2,0)

1. Ch Waterley Heart Breaker (Mr G Davies) B&W now still shy of 18 months old, I was excited to finally get my hands on him. Presented in immaculate condition, he exudes quality. With a pleasingly strong head and jaw, large feet of correct size, both front and rear construction give him an excellent square outline and you can’t take your eyes off him. Moved effortlessly, even though he was with a handler rather than owner. No hesitation in awarding him RDCC.

2. Waterley White Lotus (Ms M & Mr D Mannion & Jarvis) W&B boy, slightly larger than 1 and correctly proportioned, but I would prefer him to match with more depth of chest. Unfortunately he kept his handler on his toes, and it made his movement difficult to assess, though there is no doubt that he can move soundly when he tries.

ND (2,1)

1. Araki Devils Gold at Eveymyln (Mr & Miss Hedger & Bourne) Gold and white dog of 2 years. Square in outline and correct head, very well furnished large feet, but slightly out of coat elsewhere which distracts from appearance. He wouldn’t settle on the move but was much better in the challenge, and he shows that he can move correctly when he needs to!

GD (2,0)

1. Verony Living Legend (Mr A & Mrs VM Green) W&B boy not yet 2 years old. Really liked him and he was a strong contender in the challenge: absolutely square, excellent coat of correct texture both top and undercoat, large round well furnished feet, super head with marked stop, strong jaw. He was unsettled on the move and clearly can be a handful but when calm presents a beautiful outline on the move. Another to watch.

2. Pinrow Knight in Black (Mrs MV Davies) 2 year old B&W boy who has a correct head, well ribbed back with short loin, and excellent rear angulation. His construction is evident on the move and, had he have been in better coat, could have pushed hard for 1.

PGD (2,0)

1. Karshok Amra Jetsang (Mrs P Buckles) B&W boy of not yet 2 years old. Good lay of shoulders, low hocks and strong head and jaw. Square in outline, good spring of ribs leading to short loin, superb coat in great condition. Very relaxed on the move and shows effortless ability to get around the ring.

2. Gandaki Valentino to a Tea for Gajarkot (Miss C & Mr S Hayes & Lay-Flurrie) 2 year old B&W boy. Strong head, neck and good depth of chest, leading to a short loin and correct turn of stifle with low set hocks. Very much to like about him, but needs to regrow coat and learn to behave on the move, as he likes to push his luck!

LD (6,1)

1. Dejaru Masquerade JW (Mrs D Rudderham) Black dog rising 2 years old. Wow. I have seen this boy ringside since he was 6 months old, having had to compete against him on a frequent basis until around six months ago whilst we both tried to get JW’s. Not being able to get my hands on him has proven difficult and I was keen to see whether he had improved, and, boy has he. He was exactly what I was looking for and I could write the exact breed standard for him here, but will simply say he is well boned, has an excellent coat, strong rear angulation and low set hocks, absolutely square in size and has super shoulders, level topline and short loin, with good spring of rib and depth of chest. Movement showed him illustrating the exact picture of a TT, and he smoothly but purposely made his way round the ring, illustrating how “reach and drive” should be with such a well made dog. Absolutely delighted to award him the DCC and BOB, which I understand is his first after three RCC’s previously. It won’t be long before he achieves his crown, I’m sure.

2. Silgarhi’s Holy Moses at Walkamile (Mrs H & Mr G Stickley) Black boy of just under 3 years old. Unlucky to come up against 1, because he too has much of what I was looking for today, and my notes echo this! Correct head, strong well ribbed, deep chest and superb front and rear. On the move, you can see him driving well from the rear and he presents a wonderful square outline. I have written “lots to like” about this lad and that is truly an understatement.

3. Snoanda Doing This My Way at Quidditch JW (Ms E Hadlow)

4. Ahgainst All Odds (Mrs L & Mrs L Cooper & Purslow)

5. Trytez Try’n Stop Me (Mrs L White)

OD (6,0)

1. Ch Araki Justa Boot Perfect (Miss CL &Mrs L Cooper) 5 yr old b&w boy of absolutely correct proportions throughout. He reminds me much of the illustrations of a correct TT in the various breed seminars I have attended over the years, which must be saying something for his breeding. Well ribbed with good depth of chest, short loin and a strong head with marked stop but no exaggeration. Moved incredibly well and was a deserved winner of this class.

2. Araki Blinkin Bonkerz (Mrs I & Mrs K Kemp) B&W boy of not even 2 years of age. Again, he presented the squareness I was seeking and the presentation of an overall well put together dog. Lovely strong head, level topline, correct tailset and large feet, well furnished all over and presented in great condition. He is quite striking all over and moves extremely well. Could well have swopped places with 1 on another day.

3. Rigaze Dalaid Gartok at Tizzycharm (Miss SJ Armstrong)

4. Silgarhi Quigleys Quest (Mrs SJ Moore)

5. Int Ch Araki Shamana JW (Mrs J Chamberlain)

VD (5,2)

1. Araki Fabulous Figtail at Trytez (Mrs L White) Gold and white dog 7.5 yrs of age but you wouldn’t know it. Correct head, excellent depth of chest with good spring of rib and short loin, profuse coat that hides a lot of his construction but on the move he shows it off extremely ring and he just glided his way round.

2. Bel Ch Incalux Perchance to Dream About Kutula JW ShCM (Mrs C Stuchbury) Black dog of a superb square outline, strong neckline and correct head proportions, he is beautifully made and, had he moved in a more settled manner would have taken 1.

3. Pinrow Dark Treasure (Mrs MV Davies)

SBD(1,0)

1. Gandaki Valentino to A Tea for Gajarkot (Miss C & Mr S Hayes & Lay-Flurrie)

As PGD – but moved so much better this time round – showing that he needs a little time to settle before being moved in the ring.

GCD(1,0)

1. Int Ch Araki Shamana JW (Mrs J Chamberlain) was also 5th in Open Dog, and he has much to admire. Squarely proportioned, good lay of shoulder, spring of rib and turn of stifle, I have written that he is “sound all over” in my notes and this is very true indeed. He moved around the ring in this class much more soundly than he did in Open class and again may need a little time to settle down.

MPB (2,0)

1. Khyibrang Love U Tomorrow (Mrs JR & Miss RA Honey) B&W, just 6.5 months old. Has a perfect resolute expression that we seek, that is evident the minute she walked in the ring. Strong jaw, straight top line and good depth of chest. Excellent rear angulation, and effortless movement. A baby that is one to watch.

2. Timastae Imagica (Mrs C Charlesworth) Good square outline, study strong neckline leading to good shoulder placement, and rear angulation. Much to like, need to watch pigmentation fully through and once there likely to be a strong challenge for top places.

PB (1,0)

1. Incalux Making Waves at Nefertari (Mrs RA & Mrs CL & Miss EF Johnson & Johnson Morris & Morris). B&W just a day before her first birthday, so last puppy class. Goodness me, what a stunning dog this is. B&W, absolutely super square in profile, strong jaw with correct reverse scissor bite, carried her head on strong neck with absolute purpose at all times. Great construction both at front and rear, good depth of chest and short loin and has movement that illustrates this – such an effortless reach and drive at all times. Even in the Group ring late in the day, this youngster absolutely looked like she was born to show. She did not place in the group but was pulled out and should be delighted by this. BPB & BP

JB (5,1)

1. Djankay Black Orchid (Mr PC & Mrs E Wilson) 16 month old b&w bitch with a super outline. My notes say that she is “exactly what I want to see on the move” – simply effortless around the ring. A correct, strong but feminine head and strong jaw, leading through to a good length of neck with good depth of chest. Feet well covered, square in outline. Definitely one to watch for the future.

2. Araki I AM Hot Your Not (Mrs Y Knight) 15 month old gold and white bitch, who is one that you really have to go over to appreciate: her coat hides a wonderfully square outline with a lovely strong head and bone, very balanced with well bent stifles ad low set hocks that really show her off on the move. Close to 1, unfortunate to meet on the day.

3. Araki Fantasy Funtime at Tizzycharm (Miss S & Mr G Armstrong & Cherry)

4. Silgarhi Any Dream Will Do (Mrs SJ Moore)

YB (4,1)

1. Rogspa Sunbeam (Miss Pettit) b&w bitch an outline that is very pleasing to the eye. Low set hocks, short loin, good spring of rib with deep chest. Feminine appearance but still with a strong muzzle and that resolute expression we want to see at all times. Another to watch with interest.

2. Trytez Golden Glow (Mrs L White) Gold, slightly stronger than 1 but with much to like about her, reverse scissor but correct bite. Well covered feet, heavily furnished. Good muscle tone throughout and a good square outline. Unfortunately she was unsettled on the move and this lost her the first place.

3. Abeloth Classy Jazz (Miss RV Cooper)

NB (5,1)

1. Incalux Making Waves at Nefertari (Mrs RA & Mrs CL & Miss EF Johnson & Johnson Morris & Morris) As Puppy.

2. Silgarhi Bhotiya (Mrs SJ Moore) Black with a superb quality and condition of coat. Her outline shows the quality of her shoulders and rear angulation and this is very evident on the move. Strong and muscular, carries her head around the ring with purpose. Very much to like, unfortunate to be up against 1.

3. Tinghsa Bells Holy Moly with Carmoyle (Imp Hun) TAF (Mrs J Chamberlain)

4. Abeloth Classy Jazz (Mrs RV Cooper)

GB (7,1)

1. Verony Sea The Stars over Walkamile (Mrs H & Mr G Stickley) Black girl needs to grow coat on a little, good depth of chest to elbows, rear angulation to low set hocks. On the profile, you can see the desired “half crescent” whilst carrying a level topline and on the move is simply beautiful, covering the ring well.

2. Tasica Absolutely Fabulous (Mrs T Dyer) Gold and white sable, in great condition handled well and really showed sound movement around the ring. Correct size, good depth of chest, absolutely nothing to dislike about her, my notes show that she has correct proportions throughout: 1 just had the outline that caught the eye.

3. Pinrow Springtime Star (Mrs C Luckman)

4. Sanchara Where You Belong JW (Mr J & Mrs K Dawson)

5. Remmus Heighflier Hoshi (Mr & Mrs D Summers)

PGB (5,0)

1. Kybo Santa Monica (Mrs L & Mr T Bateman) Gold & white, correct, large well furnished feet, good depth of chest with correct mouth, strong neck leading to good shoulders and turn of stifle, which, on the move, allow this girl to move with absolute purpose around the ring. A square picture when standing, she presented the ideal picture of a TT. Had no hesitation in awarding her the RBCC: she commands attention and she got it.

2. Verony Like a Charm JW (Mr A & Mrs VM Green) black and tan do that I have wanted to get my hands on for a very long time and she did not disappoint. Perfectly square in outline, super chest with strong feminine head and jaw, good angulation throughout. She moved well but was unsettled at times and, had she not have been, then 1&2 positions could well have interchanged. She has a bright future.

3. Avaness Lights Up Kutula (Mrs C Stuchbury)

4. Lynces More than a Dream (Mr GW Cherry)

5. Haradwaithe Gracie Fields (Messers S & W & Mrs LM Clayforth)

LB (10,2)

1. Djankay Starlight Fair (Mr PC & Mrs E Wilson) Tricolour; my notes say that she has a strong resolute expression, for she absolutely walked in the ring with a “look at me” attitude and she ensured that was the case. A little out of coat but under this, she is square, she has a deep chest with short loin, is well covered, good shoulders, strong head, dark eye and great angulation – just well made throughout. She continued to demand that attention throughout her time in the ring and I could not take my eyes off her. I shall watch her career with interest – happy to have awarded her her first CC.

2. Palshar All That Glitters JW (Mrs K Willoughby black and white, beautifully square and moved so very well on the move, she has a lovely feminine head and pleasing outline, pushed very hard for 1, just unlucky to meet her today.

3. Araki Spice of Life for Yanlan (Mr I & Mrs K Kemp)

4. Silgharhi Take A Chance On Me (Miss S & Miss F Cross & Neum)

5. Araki Areu The Queen of Bees for Stylaxian JW (Mr BP Chessell)

OB (7,3)

1. Snoanda Wizadora (Mrs AJ Hearne) black girl who is the absolute picture to the eye, perfectly square, and one of the best front ends I saw, super depth of chest to the elbow, marked stop and feminine, strong head and jaw. Moved round the ring making sure she was seen. Deserved her place.

2. Verony Mystic Charm (Mr A & Mrs VM Green) ) black; with square outline that really took my fancy, she was presented beautifully, well laid shoulders and slope of upper arm with well muscled body, good spring of rib, low hocks, pushed very hard for 1

3. Waterley Rhyme & Reason at Djankay (Mr PC & Mrs E Wilson)

4. Tetsimi Slave to The Rhythm for Jalren (Mrs R Thurston)

VB (4,1)

1. Ch Khyibrang Queen of The Straits JW (Mrs JR & Mr A Honey) black and white 7.5 yrs old, with so much to like. Moved around the ring not showing her age at all, well covered body with good muscle, excellent conformation that allowed her to drive her way around the ring.

2. Ch Araki Kaught’u Again JW (Mr AM, Miss CA and Ms SA Bridges, Rose-Dawson & Rose) gold and white sable just regrowing her coat, very much my type of dog, moved absolutely effortlessly and had she been more complete definitely would have been able to swop with 1 at any time.

3. Lynces Love of My Life at Tizzycharm (Miss S J Armstrong)

SBB (1,0)

1. Tasica Absolutely Fabulous (Mrs T Dyer)

GCD (2,0)
