WEST OF ENGLAND LADIES KENNEL SOCIETY

What a delightful committee this society has. The show is run efficiently with no apparent effort & with a relaxed atmosphere. Thank you for the invitation to judge the Working Group & the beautiful gift.

There were many quality dogs in this group which made for hard decisions. I short listed the Bullmastiff, the Dobermann, the Great Dane, the Hovawart, the Leonberger, the Rottweiler, the St Bernard & the Giant Schnauzer, all of which I thought were excellent examples of the breed. My placings were:

Group 1 – CHAMPION FANTASA LUCKY SEVEN – Rottweiler – This female has a beautiful feminine head & a good length & crest of neck. In stance, you can see she is well constructed & balanced. She has a long deep ribcage & short loin & her good construction shows in her sound movement. She covers the ground in profile with a powerful, driving action with no apparent effort.

Group 2 – CHAMPION CHANDLIMORE BOYS NIGHT IN – St Bernard – This well boned substantial young male is of good size & construction. He has a strong masculine head, but without coarseness. In stance, you can see his balanced body shape & he has a good width of thigh. He was in good coat, has good markings & colour. He has free, agile movement & is sound.

Group 3 – TUWOS MR MAJESTIK – Dobermann – This is a powerful male but still having a touch of elegance. He has good bone, straight front legs, deep ribcage of correct proportions & a powerful rear. Perfectly capable of doing the job for which he was bred, he is well constructed & sound from all angles. Made up on the day – congratulations.

Group 4 – SIR CONSTANTINE DE BARBA NEGRA AT PHILOMA – Giant Schnauzer – this young male is a star in the making. Typical head & well constructed. He is balanced, clean & sharp in profile. He is sound from all angles covering ground with no effort. Will be watching him as he matures.
