Breed: Eukanuba Puppy Stakes

Eukanuba Pup Of The Year competition

This is the first time that I have judged the puppy stakes classes. There were lots of really promising puppies competing many of whom, I am sure, will make a name for themselves in their breeds and beyond, with a good number going on to gain their titles.

Day One:

Class 921 AVPD W/P/T (35 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 2085 SHEPHERD, Mr I M & SHEPHERD, Mrs D J Samhaven Driftin High To Shianise, Samoyed of 7 months, already such a showman and presented in lovely condition, pleasing wedge shaped head, almond eye, standing on good legs and flattish feet, carries himself well on the move, true fore and aft, shows lots of promise, day 1 winner;

2nd: 1728 KASS, Miss K D Fostebrie I Am Mika @ Kimarlaz, Briard who pushed hard, lots of quality here and full of type, liked his head, well made all through with good angulation fore and aft, firm level back, shown in lovely coat and condition, impressed most on the move where he goes with effortless ease and plenty of drive, a most promising puppy;

3rd: 463 MANN, Mr & Mrs Jr & V Pacolito Soul Trader, PRT

Class 922 AVPB W/P/T (29 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 831 LAMBERT, Mrs Fiona & EASTHAM, Mrs Marj Utah Rebbel Off The Eurisever With Bouvpilot (Imp) Bouvier of lovely type and quality, clean cut head and broad muzzle, correct neck, well boned legs and good feet, super front, strong short deep ribbed body, good overall balance and powerful hindquarters, correct coat, really good on the move where she was so free but also powerful, showing real drive behind and true in front, one to be proud of;

2nd: 1725 FOSTER, Mrs C Fostebrie Hope's Sensation, Briard who is litter sister to 2nd in previous class and shares so many of his virtues, so similar in type and overall picture, liked her size and overall outline, again so well made in fore and hindquarters, correct bone and feet, strong topline kept on the move and such a free, easy mover, true fore and aft, another destined for high awards;

3rd: 1051 VEAL, Mr M Philoma Encanto, Giant Schnauzer

Day Two:

Class 1661 AVPD G/To (27 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 4436 EASDON & MARTIN, Messrs A & P Yakee Starry Starry Night, Pekingese of the highest quality and another star for this kennel, just how does this breeder do it? Loved his head with good underjaw offset by his dark, lustrous eyes, elbows close to the body, correct body shape, strong hindquarters with firm hocks which is evident on the move where he is sound with typical, dignified,rolling gait, shown in super coat and condition, is obviously such a great character and nothing phases him, when it came to compete for best of the day, it appeared that he had had enough which was disappointing but had to count, title bound for sure and won the CC and BOB on the day;

2nd: 3708 WHITEHEAD, Mrs Karen A Gunalt Back Chat From Stridview, what a most promising prospect this Weimaraner is, just turned 6 months and already is so ‘together’, looks a baby but he is a beautiful one, loved his outline, correct head, so well made in neck and shoulders, has the correct balance for the breed, well ribbed back, correct topline and carries his tail correctly, never stands wrong and comes into his own on the move where he is so true fore and aft, covers the ground so well in profile and maintains his outline, super temperament, one for the future and one I shall follow with interest;

3rd: 4066 DIXON, Mrs Lisa Jane & DIXON, Mr Graeme Lasagesse Dazed N'confused, ETT

Class 1662 AVPB G/To (27 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 4065 DIXON, Mrs Lisa Jane & DIXON, Mr Graeme Lasagesse Kashmir, beautiful feminine ETT, littermate to 3rd in previous class, what an alert, confident showgirl she already is, has the most lovely head with correct ears, fine bone, straight front, curvy outline, looked so good on the move where she flowed, showing real soundness combined with correct breed typical front movement, has good colours with definite thumbprints, when she met the Peke, she performed perfectly which just gave her the edge on the day, day 2 winner;

2nd: 4460 CAWTHERA-PURDY, Mrs A Lireva's When Stars Collide, what a most beautiful Pomeranian whom I loved, what a most typical and beautiful bitch she is, loved her overall outline and shape, beautiful head, eyes and ears, dainty all through with short back and fine boned, small cat-like feet, correctly set tail, moved so soundly with freedom and kept her outline in profile, thought she was the winner but just as I went down the line she very slightly dropped her tail, another beauty from this most consistent kennel whose future is assured I’m sure;

3rd: 3843 LEONARD, Mr Andrew Ellemich Bombshell At Witchstone, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

1st: 6245 HALL, Miss M D & BELL, Mrs H M & ELLIS, Mrs S M Shenedene The Gambler With Vallena, 11 months gold/white most glamorous Lhasa Apso of the highest quality and screams ‘showdog’, takes the eye immediately with his natural presence and poise, really good to go over on the table with good head and dark eyes, really scores in front construction with well laid back shoulders, level topline, good body and well ribbed back, good well muscled hindquarters, looks a picture on the move where he maintains his outline perfectly with good head carriage, super topline and really covering the ground in a free, jaunty action, presented to the minute and looking a picture, he never put a foot wrong and kicked up a gear in the final run off between the other two days’ winners, delighted to make him the overall winner;
