Puppy (5) - Quality class of youngsters in which I’m sure 1,2 & 3 will all change places at various points during their careers.

1st Young’s Chesterhill Ocean’s Orca at Anorien - Eyecatching and upstanding black male of just 8 months who has such ring presence for one so young. Scored highly on his balanced outline. Handsome head, long and fine, muzzle strong, well defined chin with tight lips fitting cleanly. Dark, almond shaped eye so full of mischief. Ear set correct, framing face well. Reachy neck of good length carrying his head proudly and flowing seamlessly into well laid shoulders. Chest developing well for age, forelegs straight and of quality bone, tidy oval feet. Short backed with ribs well sprung and carried well back, short, broad loin. Hindquarters strong and sound with well bent stifles and low set parallel hocks. High set tail of correct carriage. Moved effortlessly around the ring showing off good reach and drive. Couldn’t be denied Best Dog & BPIB

2nd Hunter & Murphy’s Silvora Cristal Star - another young black male puppy who pushed 1st hard and also has much to like. Very promising. Lovely for size and balance. Balanced head, long, fine skull, foreface of good length with evident chiselling, definite chin. Gorgeous dark eye, almond in shape and well set. Ears of correct shape, set and size. Neck of good length fitting into a sound front assembly. Shoulders well laid, chest developing well and straight forelegs. Well bodied for age, ribs well sprung and carried well back, short backed, muscular loins. Sound hindquarters of correct angles. High set tail. Stylish mover, tidy in sound in all directions just pipped by 1st’s showmanship on the final go-around. Called back in for the challenge for RBD and won it.

1st Watt & Bruce’s Donaska Tilted Halo - 19 month old black bitch who I had the pleasure of judging previously in an AV class at a local open show. Today, she took it up a gear and obviously enjoyed being in the large outdoor ring. She is certainly eye catching, balanced and of good size, ultra feminine. She has the most beautiful, typy expression, skull long and fine, clean, balanced foreface with good chiselling, well defined chin with well pigmented lips fitting cleanly. Darkest of eyes, almond in shape and well set. Good reach of neck flowing into well laid shoulders, chest of good depth and straight forelegs of quality bone. Short backed, well muscled throughout, ribs well sprung and carried well back, loin short and broad. Strong and sound hindquarters with well bent stifles and low set parallel hocks. Dense, harsh coat presented to perfection. Moved well from all angles with free, easy reach and drive. Had to settle for RBB against the impressive open winner today but she is knocking on the door.

2nd McDonald’s Lowashton Little Grey - Black bitch of 2 years old. Preferred head and movement of 1st. Honest bitch of good size and shape. Pretty head of nice proportions, strong muzzle, enough chiselling, cheeks lean. Dark almond shaped eye, well set and of good size. Enough neck into a moderate lay of shoulder, good depth of chest, forelegs straight with oval feet. Well bodied with well sprung ribs, good topline, loin well muscled. Hindquarters well muscled and angles matching that of her fore. Coat of good texture. Moved with animation.

1st Holmes-Leak’s Ch Joleena In Excelsis with Navarre JW - Beautiful black bitch who ticks all the boxes for size, balance and type. She has a beautiful, proportionate head with such a super expression. Skull is long and fine, strong foreface of good length, well chiselled. Lips well fitting with clearly defined chin. Beautiful dark, almond shaped eyes well set and giving such a sweet expression. Ears of correct set, shape and size, framing her face well. Reachy neck carrying her head proudly and flowing elegantly into well laid shoulders. Good depth of chest, forelegs straight and of quality bone, neat, oval feet. Short backed and compact body, well ribbed back with broad, muscular, short loins. Well muscled hindquarters, broad thighs, good turn of stifle and low set parallel hocks propelling her on the move. High set tail. Plush, dense coat, harsh in texture and very well presented - if being ultra picky would like to see slightly less coat on her but this obviously doesn’t derive from her obvious qualities. Moved so soundly from all angles with style and sass. BB & BOB today in good company.

2nd Grace & Twaddle’s Nacado’s Daisuki for Bewitching Stars at Sasilasy - Very handsome male who presents a balanced outline when stacked. He doesn’t disappoint on the table. Masculine head and expression, skull long and fine, moderate stop, good length to muzzle, some chiselling, clean foreface, lips well fitted with definite chin. Dark, almond shaped eyes of correct set adding to his expression. Good reach of neck fitting into a sound front assembly, good depth of chest, forelegs straight and of good bone. Short backed and compact, ribs well sprung and carried well back, broad, muscular loin. Hindquarters well angulated with good bend to stifles and straight parallel hocks. Tail of correct set and carriage. In this class he showed me he can move with good reach and drive, however in the challenge, unfortunately he lost his spark and tended to drop his tail which cost him his place against the impressive youngsters. His day will come.
