Richmond Dog Show Society
Richmond 2024 Miniature Pinschers
I would like to thank the Richmond Committee for their warm hospitality and kind invitation to judge at your show. It has been 3 years since I was awarded my first set of CCs, and as I had not exhibited at a Championship show for nearly 12 months, many of the dogs were completely new to me. Unfortunately, the weather did affect performances and I do feel places could change if conditions were kinder. It was disappointing for the exhibitors and the Richmond Committee as there was inclement weather over all 3 days of the show. I truly appreciated the dedicated exhibitors who brought their pins along to support me and for accepting my decisions so sportingly. The ring was beginning to look like a pond in areas at the end of judging, so thank you all for coming!
A special thank you to my wonderful steward, who was very organized and kept the running order so efficiently. Heads seemed more typical of the breed from my last appointment, temperaments were super, and dentition and bites were good in all exhibits examined today.
VD (2,0) 1st Parker’s Ch Vardenais Lumos, 7 year old red that I have judged before in his younger years, and much still applies today. Just a sprinkle of frosting around the muzzle and eyes now but he is still a super example of the breed and presented in excellent condition. Masculine head with a good length of muzzle with a decent amount of underjaw, lovely dark eyes with high ear set giving him a keen expression. He is a very balanced boy with a gently sloping topline, absolutely sound as a pound, still has some lift on the front action, and is so clean and sure behind. BVIB. Was delighted to see that he topped the Veteran Group later in the day, Congratulations!
2nd James Ch Jaegerson Dress To Impress, 8-year-old correctly marked Black & Tan, and another presented in excellent condition. Expressive head, dark eyes, and a correct ear set, liked his depth of chest good topline line and tail set , held well on the move, was super in profile, and is strong and clean on the rear movement but was untidy in the front coming towards me today.
MPD (1,0) 1st Coull’s Vardenais Hot As Hell, 7 mth deep red baby, who I see is sired by my BOB today, as always from the kennel presented in super condition. Attractive head, dark eyes, good length of muzzle, his ears are well-set but just need a little time to grow into them. Straight front with neat feet and good depth of chest, moderate tuck up, and good rear angulations. Moved well showing lift on the front action holding his topline. I preferred the compact outline of the Puppy Dog today.
PD (1,0) 1st Santoriello’s Pinicio Pinocchio, red of 9 months who has a super balanced outline and is ideal for size, so compact and together. I loved his head, dark eyes with correct pigment, and good length of muzzle and underjaw. He has a flat skull with super neat ears correctly set. There is a slight arch to his neck with good shoulder placement, neat feet, moderate tuck up, correct topline with super tail set, and good sweep of stifle. He moved really well, showing lift in the front and clean behind, and handled perfectly. A very promising puppy who no doubt will have a bright future! BPD & BPIB.
JD (2,0) 1st Hewitt’s Adurus Sundance Kid For Catamyrann another red presented in excellent condition. Handsome masculine head with cracking ear set, flat skull, and good length of muzzle with super underjaw. Ideal depth of chest with close-fitting elbows, a short backline, excellent rear angulation, and his tail is set perfectly. Moved well with purpose showing some lift on the front with a strong driving rear action holding his topline at all times. In my opinion, he is champion quality and will gain his crown very soon. Just missed out on top honours preferring the elegance of 1st & 2nd Open dog today.
2nd Watkins Hawksflight American Jazz, a red dog who I see is a brother to my BOB today from a repeat mating. He is very typical in profile and good for size and bone. He has a good length of muzzle with dark eyes and correct pigment. Ears could be neater and firmer. He has a correct topline and a cracking tail set. He moved well with hackney action, full of "look at me" attitude as he went around the ring, and was handled very well to get the best out of him. Today, I preferred the front assembly on 1."
YD (1,0) 1st Hewitt’s Adurus Sundance Kid For Catamyrann ( repeat entry )
PGD (1,0) 1st Mcloughlin’s Krieger’s Kilted Dragon, This black & tan chap brought a smile to my face, such a confident happy boy he is smaller and finer in type however everything is where it should be and he has a balanced profile. Beautifully marked, super expression, good ear set, and correct topline and tail set. Moved well and handled perfectly in challenging conditions. BSB and delighted to see he was awarded SB Group 4 later in the day. Congratulations!
LD (3,0) 1st James Jaegerson The Edge, correctly marked black & tan presented in superb condition. Masculine head, good length of muzzle, dark eyes, correct ear set giving that typical alert expression. He has good shoulder placement and depth of chest with elbows close fitting. Gently sloping topline with good rear angulation and tail set. Lovely in profile and moved well showing some lift on the front action and clean behind. A quality min pin who pushed hard in the dog challenge.
2nd Hewitts Adurus Highflyer For Catamyrann, black and tan who is a different type to 1, correctly marked with typical head and expression, Nice dark eye with good ear placement, adequate depth of chest. Close-fitting elbows with neat feet. Good rear angulation and moved well and soundly, preferred the top line and tail set of 1 today.
3rd Parkers Kaypin Happy And You Know It
OD (3,0).
1st Watkins & Bugden Ch Hawksflight Hot Pursuit JW, elegant red oozing with breed type, Such a confident chap who is full of self-possession. He appeals for size, is eye-catching and balanced from every angle. He has the unmistakable silhouette of the Miniature Pinscher on the free stand and whilst moving. Masculine head without coarseness, expressive dark eyes. Strong muzzle with a good depth of underjaw, ears are set high with a flat skull, a slight arch to his neck with a well-placed shoulder, and a good depth of chest and ribs well sprung. Moderate underline, short coupled with gently sloping topline. Good rear angulation with a cracking tail set which projects that superb profile. He moved with precise hackney action and absolutely at one with his handler who gets the best out of him. A very well-deserved CC and BOB and was delighted to see he was awarded a Group 3 in the toy group later in the day. Congratulations! A very special min pin indeed!
2nd Santoriello’s Pinicio Red Rebellion JW, a quality red dog from this kennel who again has that superb pin profile, slightly taller in leg than 1 but equally as balanced and elegant. Full of happy spirit and animation, I loved his head properties, neat ears set high, dark eye, good length to the muzzle, graceful but strong neck, good shoulder placement and depth of chest, neat feet, and moderate underline with gently sloping topline, good rear angulation with cracking tail set. Presented in excellent condition, moved with impressive hackney action which is a delight to see. Expertly handled, called back in for the RCC in the challenge, and couldn’t be denied today. Well done! RDCC.
3rd Santoriello’s Ch Pinicio Twist and Shout JW
SBD 1st Mcloughlin’s Kriegers Kilted Dragon (see PGD)
VB (1,0) 1st Kirby’s Vardenais Limini With Kirbsea 7-year-old red, pleasing feminine head, with nice length of muzzle. Dark eyes with correct pigment, a straight front, and good rear angulation. She is well-bodied, but I felt she was holding a little too much weight today which spoilt her overall profile. Moved soundly but I did feel she wasn’t too happy with the conditions today.
MPB (1,0) 1st Coull’s Vardenais The Heat Is On, red who is litter sister to the MPD, I preferred her overall profile shape to her brother's today as she is slightly shorter in the back and more compact. She is in super condition with a feminine head, good length of muzzle, and dark eyes. Ears set high just need growing into, graceful neck with a developing fore chest, moderate tuck up, and super tail set. She is very balanced and my notes say the best cat-like feet of the day! She was giving her handler a hard time when moving, full of cheeky spirit, and doing her own thing as they do! The short bursts of when she kept all four feet on the ground she had a nice front action. I thought she was a promising puppy and will follow her progress with interest.

JB (1,0) 1st Colborne- Babers Danton Buttercup, dark red presented in super condition. She has the most feminine head with beautiful dark eyes with correct pigment, ears are small and set perfectly, and she is very compact with a well-laid shoulder, moderate tuck up, and a good sweep of stifle. Super top line and tail set, showing hackney action on the move. Sadly she wasn’t happy today which was such a shame as it affected her performance moving and on the free stand. Having said that she is a quality bitch which will do well for sure on any other day.
YB ( 1.0) 1st Urwin’s Vickstock Wow Aneeva JW, another red super compact girl, the weather didn’t bother her one bit today. Appeals in size and shape, pretty head with typical expression, neat and small ear set. Good shoulder and depth of chest, a lovely sweep to her stifle with good rear angulation, super topline and tail set. Moved really well showing lift at the front and clean behind, and handled to get the best out of her. For me today I just felt she was looking a bit too lean.

OB (3,0) 1st Stracey’s Ch Kriegers Kiss N Tell JW Another beautiful black and tan exhibit from this kennel that just oozes quality and is shown to perfection by her owner/handler. I have previously awarded her dam highly who was equally as special. She cannot stand wrong and in profile is perfectly balanced. Correctly marked, she has a super headpiece, loved her length of muzzle with good depth to the under jaw. Dark eye with keen expression, graceful neck leading onto a superb topline and tail set. Decent forechest and depth of chest with close-fitting elbows. Moderate tuck up with cracking rear angulation. She is so very sound and showed lift on the front action with a clean driving rear on the move, Couldn’t be denied BCC today and so very well deserved. Congratulations!
2nd Santoriello’s Pinicio Roses Are Red, red girl who is out of a bitch who was my BOB the last time I judged and has a lot of the same qualities as her. I see she is also the dam of my BP today. Presented in super condition, is slightly smaller in frame than 1 but still beautifully balanced from every angle. She has recently gained her crown and I can see why, muzzle fitting perfectly into her very feminine head, dark eyes, and small neat ears. Good forechest and depth of chest, close-fitting elbows, moderate tuck up, and a lovely sweep of her stifle. Cracking topline and tail set, compact and short coupled. Moved precisely with super front action and clean and true rear movement. A sassy showgirl who is handled beautifully, Well deserved RBCC.
