BCC 6899 - Sh Ch Nasailleen Bye Felicia (Mrs L & Mrs B Nelson & Bryant)

RBCC 6898 - Mycalleys Koko (Mrs B & Mrs R Morris & Jefferson)

BOB 6899 - Sh Ch Nasailleen Bye Felicia (Mrs L & Mrs B Nelson & Bryant)

BV 6879 - Mischtikals Return O'the Mac at Dyrin (Mr C Birch)

I was thrilled to award my first set of CCs in this breed having first judged them in 1991 and I am very grateful to the Bath committee for inviting me. I am sorry that some exhibitors found it necessary to publish their distaste of my judging on social media. In all of the 45 years that I have been judging dogs I have never been rude, unkind or discourteous to anyone, something to which the handlers of the 5000+ dogs I have judged will testify. This is the first time I have ever withheld an award and it was a very hard thing for me to do. I am always very aware that exhibitors have paid their hard earned cash for my opinion and I give everyone the same amount of consideration; I am grateful to everyone who enters under me.

1ST 6876 - Alibama Knockout (Miss H & Mr D K Bedding & Jennings) Cracking 14 mths b&t. He carries a hard sloping topline, has straight, strongly boned legs, short pasterns and firm round feet. Clean cut sloping shoulders, good return and length of upper arm and well sprung ribs. Short coupled, well angulated quarters and great tail set. Well developed and rounded skull, clearly defined stop, broad muzzle and a soft expression. He holds his shape on the move and covers plenty of ground. Showed his socks off to take the RCC.

2ND 6881 - Nasailleen Condragulations (Mrs B & Mr M & Mrs V Bryant & Nelson & Shepard) Quality silver buff who presents a strong outline, has a strong slightly arched neck, good lay of shoulder and wide quarters. His head is absolutely lovely and perfectly proportioned. In terrific coat and condition. Not as steady on the move as the winner.

3RD 6890 - Alibama Quintessential (Mr D K Jennings) This dog has the most divine head; he just lacked condition today.

RES 6886 - Moonmist I Spy Wilbur (Mrs B Edwards) Decent type, just not settled on the move today.

2767. Spaniel (American Cocker) - Post Graduate Dog

1ST 6904 - Sabisabi Apache Tonka at Geenawell (Mrs G Weller). Won this class on his terrific movement with plenty of reach and drive and showing a clean pair of heels going away. His head is very handsome with an alert expression and fits cleanly into his long and well arched neck, well laid shoulders, big ribs, short loin, super tail set. He presents well and is of a good size.

2ND 6893 - Truly Mine Teddie (Imp Fra) (Mrs S C Jones) Strongly boned and has plenty of heart and lung room. Well angulated and carries a hard sloping topline with his tail set in line. I preferred the head and tail carriage of the winner. Effortless movement.

3RD 6906 - Partisky Rock Parti at Challeymead (Mr K & Mrs W Woolley) This is a lovely chocolate and white boy who moved well but didn’t have the verve of 1st or 2nd. Very well presented.

RES 6880 - Zhemchuzhnaya Rossip Shape of My Heart Dyrin (Imp Rus) (Mr C Birch) Taut body and well sprung ribs, moved OK.

VHC 6877 - Leader Line Stilish Melvin (Mrs Cl & Mrs S Bell & Siedler)

2768. Spaniel (American Cocker) - Limit Dog

1ST 6885 - Afterglow Bang Tidy (Mrs B Edwards). A very serviceable dog with plenty of bone and substance, long and muscular neck, clean shoulders, good ribs and depth, tail set could be slightly better. Well angulated and presented in good condition. Well balanced head, deep stop, broad muzzle. Moved with purpose.

2ND 6905 - Partisky Platinum Black at Challeymead (Mr K & Mrs W Woolley). What a very merry and happy boy he is; he exudes personality on the stack but let himself down on the move by being somewhat lethargic. He is a tad heavier in skull than the winner but his head is still very handsome and finishes with a well developed nose.

3RD 6878 - Finndain Frappe for Dyrin (Mr C Birch) B&w parti with a good head and eye, not as settled as the others on the move today.

1ST 6889 - Sh Ch Afterglow Bambalam with Alibama JW (Mr D K Jennings) Oh this head! It has to be one of the very best in the breed; I could have looked at it all day. It is utterly divine and so well proportioned, totally balanced and his muzzle is broad, deep and square with superb plushing. He has a melting expression in his dark perfectly shaped eyes. He is all male without any hint of coarseness and his beautiful long neck really springs from his shoulders. His silky buff coat is presented to perfection. He moves with his head held high and a lashing tail. I loved him and was immensely pleased to award him the CC. What a naughty boy he was today and didn’t help his handler on the move which cost him BOB.

1ST 6877 - Leader Line Stilish Melvin (Mrs Cl & Mrs S Bell & Siedler). 5th in Post Grad. Recently clipped off b&w so no coat to hide anything. He is a happy soul with a decent head but is long in loin and presents an outline that is long and low. He had good drive going away but was very choppy in front movement.

2771. Spaniel (American Cocker) - Veteran

1ST 6879 - Mischtikals Return O'the Mac at Dyrin (Mr C Birch) Well presented black who carries a good outline with sloping topline and well set on tail. Super head and eye, strong neck, big ribs and plenty of depth, short coupled. Moved well covering plenty of ground and holding his topline.

2ND 6892 - Alkimadus Ruben James (Mrs S C Jones) He has a handsome head with dark eyes. In full coat but it didn’t have the silky texture of the winner’s.

3RD Withheld. Not something I did lightly and I politely and quietly explained to the handler why I had done this.

2773. Spaniel (American Cocker) - Junior Bitch

Entries: 5 Absentees: 1

1ST 6900 - Nasailleen Ella Vaday (Mrs L & Mrs B Nelson & Bryant) Turned out and handled to perfection. She has the very best topline and tail set, an impressive forehand, long slightly arched neck, and well turned stifles. Her head is so feminine with clearly defined eyebrows and stop and is beautifully proportioned. She moves without effort and covers plenty of ground.

2ND 6903 - Jaclee Broadway Madam at Twizeltree (Mr R & Mrs A & Mr C Stokes) This is a lovely young black who was unlucky to meet the winner today. She is impressive on the stack and carries a terrific topline. Her head is lovely but I preferred the head shape of the winner. She clearly has a wonderful temperament and I liked her very much.

3RD 6895 - Jolicraft Gentle Touch (Mrs J Latviene) A nicely put together b&t with excellent markings. She presents a good shape and carries a flat, silky coat. Holds her shape on the move.

RES 6882 - Happysoul What A Feeling (Imp Swe) (Mr S & Mrs K Crisp) Just for the record I do know that blue roan is an acceptable colour for this breed.

2774. Spaniel (American Cocker) - Post Graduate Bitch

1ST 6888 - Moonmist Twinkle Toes (Miss P A Iremonger) I had to smile when I saw the name of this b&t; I wrote in my notes “want a lovely mover she is with a little spring in her step”! She has a very good forehand with rear angles to match, big ribs, plenty of depth and carries her pretty head on a long neck. She has clearly defined eyebrows and stop and lush plushing.

2775. Spaniel (American Cocker) - Limit Bitch

Entries: 3 Absentees: 0

1ST 6898 - Mycalleys Koko (Mrs B & Mrs R Morris & Jefferson) Her head is beautiful with such a melting expression and a broad, deep muzzle with super plushing. She is very well balanced all through with terrific angulation, plenty of heart and lung room and is well off for bone. She moves so well and covers plenty of ground showing a clean pair of heels as she goes away. Handled and presented perfectly to take the RCC.

2ND 6896 - Exclamation All I Have to Do Is Dream (Imp Fin) (Mrs S & Mrs T Mangira & Nuutero) I preferred the head and front of the winner but I was nit picking and she is a very good example of the breed, carries a strong topline and is excellently presented. She carries a good coat of silky texture and moves effortlessly.

3RD 6883 - Katrin Kiss Izabella (Imp Blr) (Mr S & Mrs K Crisp) She looks well stacked and has a strong topline but she lacked the forward reach of the winners nor does she have such good width behind.

2776. Spaniel (American Cocker) - Open Bitch

1ST 6899 - Sh Ch Nasailleen Bye Felicia (Mrs L & Mrs B Nelson & Bryant) Looking back at my previous appointments in this breed I see that I judged her at her very first show when she was very raw indeed and I surprised myself by giving her the class. I saw then that she had all the basics to become an outstanding bitch and boy has she. She is the real deal. Her outline is classic and she screams breed type and quality. She has a compact and sturdy body, big ribs, a short loin and a big bum; she has a superb flair over her hips. Her shoulders are well laid and her length and return of upper arm place her legs well under her body. Her neck is long and muscular and truly does rise strongly. She is high at the withers to give her the required sloping topline and her tail comes straight off. Her quarters are strongly boned and powerful and she stands on well padded feet. Her gleaming black coat is correctly marked with visible tan and it is flat and silky to the touch. Her presentation is exceptional. Her head is simply divine and correctly proportioned with exquisite chiselling under her perfectly shaped eyes. The plushing in her muzzle is excellent. Her side gait is fabulous with wonderful forward reach and she shows a clean pair of heels going away. There is no excessive lift and her footfall is precise. She has personality in abundance and as well as giving me that look today that dared me not to give her first place, she was cheeky enough to keep sticking her tongue out at me. She is a very merry, robust, beautiful and captivating example of the breed and she knows it. CC and BOB.

2ND 6895 - Jolicraft Gentle Touch (Mrs J Latviene) 3rd in Junior.
