Thursday April 25th 2024

Judge – Miss Ceri Simpson (Leriton)

I would like to thank the officers and committee of the club for their kind invitation to judge at this show.

A wonderful venue, one of my favourite show grounds to compete, so a real privilege to be asked to judge here.

Thank you to all the exhibitors for bringing forward your beautiful Large Munsterlanders.

Large Munsterlander:

Veteran dog (0,0)

Puppy dog (0,0)

Junior dog (0,0)

Post Graduate dog (1,1)

1. Mr M & Mrs D Day & Robinson. Tarkanya Ritas Reinheart at Alfriston

Larger framed 18 month old dog but in proportion, offering a good initial picture. Attractive coat and markings. Strong, nicely arched neck and decent forelimb assembly. Well ribbed back. I would prefer a slightly wider thigh but this didn’t hinder his stride on the move – moved with good drive once settled, he a still a young lad and quite exuberant!

Reserve best dog

Limit dog (1,1)

1. Mrs N M & Mr I Griffiths – Rose. Vonstrahlend Kam Das Leben

4 1/2 year old dog, nice elongated head with well set on ears, inquisitive expression and dark eye.

Another with a good neck, shoulders and front assembly but slightly longer cast with a lower tail set resulting in a higher tail carriage than I'd like. Not quite as much drive as expected but in tune and attentive to his handler throughout the class which was nice to see

Open dog (3,1)

1. Ms J E and Mr A E Powell & Murrell – Sh Ch Crumpsbrook Woodrush

The best mover of the day! Well angulated both in front and behind with plenty of bone and visible core strength. He really displayed proper balance and power with reach and drive and despite the small ring. A strong, arched neck, correct shoulders and wide, prominent forechest leading to a well muscled and toned mid body, strong short loin and well turned stifles combined to make for an impressively held topline on the move. Shown in good hard muscular condition. I was really impressed with him!

Best Dog and Best of Breed

2. Mrs J Horton – Crumpsbrook Jay

A super attractive 4 year old dog, immaculately presented.

Another with a good head and kind expression and a particularly good width to his forechest. Angulation good throughout.

A little unsettled today which hindered his drive but not his well toned underline and solid topline, he does fly his tail which can make him look a little unbalanced on the move

Veteran bitch (1,1)

1. Mr A and Mrs L Robins – Sh Ch Destanli Jedda’s Diamond

Lovely to be able to go over such a well muscled 9 year old bitch. Her slightly greying muzzle just adding to the correct features of her head. One of the best forechests of the day, good angulation throughout and sound on the move although a slight roll in her topline. She is a little down on her pasterns but feet remain tight and neat.

Best veteran

Puppy bitch (0,0)

Junior bitch (0,0)

Post Graduate bitch (1,1)

1. Mr A and Mrs L Robins – Tarkanya Ritsa Ruby with Destanli

A well balanced 18 month old bitch, with a good depth of body for her age. Nicely angulated fore and rear quarters and well muscled throughout giving her the ideal framework from which to move with purpose. Good, balanced reach and drive. Well toned underline and solid topline.

Reserve best bitch

Limit bitch (1,1)

1. Ms J E and Mr A E Powell & Murrell – Tureagh Crystal Cider

A very feminine 3 ½ year old bitch with a flashy black and white coat. Well laid back shoulders and well sprung ribs, tail carried correctly but I would prefer a little more bend of stifle. She still however moved with a free and springy gait and another who was well muscled.

Open bitch (3,1)

1. Miss V Wilkins – Sh Ch Quilesta Simply Exquisite

This girl showed her socks off from the minute she entered the ring. The best turned out of the day, her coat gleaming.

5 years old. Good dark eyes and correctly set ears, well angulated throughout with plenty of forechest and strong broad hips. Correct tail set and well muscled – excellent second thigh.

On the initial move around the ring she showed excellent uphill movement with freedom from the shoulder, proper balance with reach and drive – unfortunately she found the battle for best of breed a little to exciting and lost out to the dog on movement.

Best bitch

2. Mrs H J Ward – Braccpoint Song of the Wind for Gemlorien

6 1/2 year old naturally balanced and square particularly when free stood in the line. Beautiful dark eyes and intelligent expression. Excellent rear angles and turn of stifle and also well let down hocks. She looked and felt muscularly solid. Good topline, moved effortlessly covering the ground - just lacked the drive and showmanship of 1 today.
