WINDSOR CH SHOW

COLLIE – SMOOTH

My thanks to both the Officers and Committee of Windsor and to those exhibitors who braved the London motorways on a Thursday. Having had this appointment for a few years, it was a pleasure to see some new exhibits in the ring and my lovely stewards, Nina Pace and Brian Chessell certainly made my day with quiet but efficient organisation and much laughter – thank you to you both

A few issues I feel need a mention, front and rear angulations, lack of substance and head qualities need to be addressed for the future of this lovely breed.

VETERAN:

1. Pletz-Kazantis & Busby: CH FOXEARTH FANDELLA, I last judged this little lady some years back when she was not as settled and mature. Very pleasing head, good foreface. Good eye set, well placed and used ears. Good neck and shoulders. Ample bone and when asked to move did so easily, pleased to award her the class and BVIB.

PUPPY 3 males, all of which are at different stages in their careers, no doubt as they mature, they will change places but the star of the class was:

1. Hayward: WYNELE DOUBLE TROUBLE AT FOXEARTH, sable boy who was not settled at first but soon decided to show off his virtues. Gave his handler a difficult time as he is still very much a raw baby, not yet 7 months, but has bags of potential. Pleasing head, good foreface. Nice eye set and ear carriage. Ample neck and shoulders for his age. Good length of back. Moved out well with a level top-line. He surprised me with his quality and I was pleased to award him not only BPIB but also the RDCC. Good Luck for the future with him

2. Acford – CONEYPARK MATTIE BROWN – another shaded sable who was much more mature but lost out as his movement in both directions was somewhat erratic, lacking drive. I liked his overall balance and shape. Pleasing head, good neck and top-line, I am sure he can move better on another day

3. Burton – GLENCORRIE TYKE VINCENT

JUNIOR

1. Martin – STURTMOOR ARCEUS’S LEGACY, well made boy of good size and shape, Balanced head with a lovely expression from well placed eye and ears. Ample neck leading into well placed shoulders. Liked his length of back and movement. Very attentive to handler, his day will come but, in the challenge, just lacked that extra sparkle I was looking for

POST GRAD

LIMIT – what a lovely class, all of whom deserving of their previous wins, however, I was looking for something a bit special and found it in:

1. Sewell – WYNELE STRIKE IT RICH TO LEWARNE, I first saw this boy from ringside when he took a well deserved BPIS at a club show and since then I have watched his progress with interest.

This is a boy who could work all day, presented in sparkling form, his jet-black coat gleamed in the sunlight with his white also gleaming, at one with his handler he appeared calm and confident, never putting a paw wrong. Although some may feel he is a little fine all around, I found him in balance all through from his well filled foreface, correctly placed stop. Lovely expression coming from a correctly placed eye and ear set. Ample neck of good length, good depth of chest, correct shoulders and ample bone. Liked this boy’s length of back, loin and croup. Well set on tail. Hindquarters are strong which enabled him to move easily in any direction with a level top line. Just stood and asked for the class, which he won easily and so pleased to award him the CC, followed by BOB, which I understood gave him his title, thank you for bringing him.

2.Robertson – WYNELE STRIKE ONE, brother to above very similar in type but not the expression I was looking for as I felt his foreface just a fraction too long and not as well rounded in foreface as winner. Pleasing head, good neck and shoulders, heavier in outline but he too moved well but without the drive.

3. Warren & Lusty – COLDELEE JUPITER RISES WITH BLAMORDER

OPEN

1. Wensley – CONSTELLA HAZY COSMIC JIVE, well-made boy, with a pleasing head. Good expression. Stands well naturally. Well made in all departments, good back length just a little lethargic on the move and maybe feeling the heat.

SPECIAL BEGINEERS

1. Coneypark Mattie Brown

PUPPY BITCH

1. Cole & Fort - SHULUNE IMPERIAL RUM PUNCH, promising youngster who is maturing well. Pleasing head, nice expression, good body and outline just needs time to mature

LIMIT – Good class of differing types and these ladies will no doubt change places but I was drawn to the maturity of:

1. Jerrett – COLDELEE ETERNAL SUNSHINE JW, very well-made sable with a steady temperament. Pleasing head, good foreface, kind eye. Ample neck and good shoulders. Liked her outline both standing and moving. Good bone, Moved easily and really pushed the CC winner hard but had to settle for the RBCC today. Her day will come.

2.

3. Howard - SHANDLMAIN’S SOFISTIKATE, slightly smaller tricolour girl not quite in the best of coats. Head is pleasing with a well-placed stop. Good foreface. Well set ears, I liked her body and outline just needs more time to mature and finish, moved quite well

4. Trundley & Palmer - NUUK SAARSKALL BILA KAIFA JUNIPERWOOD

OPEN

Good class and really splitting hairs for the final placings but the winner was:

1. Howard - BRACKENHAYE HEARTBREAKER AT SHANDLMAIN. Tricolour in good condition. Yes, she may be what some consider up to size but everything I saw and felt made no difference to this. This lady had a good foreface, well placed stop and was in harmony with her handler. Good bone, neat feet. Lovely neck and shoulders. Good top-line with nice outline. Moved very easily and covered ground comfortably. Pleased to award her the class and with it the BCC and her owner informed me this was her 3rd CC. Welcome to the upper house.

2. Benton – CH BRACKENHAYE QUEEN OF HEARTS OF OAKESTELLE, litter sister to winner and also has similar qualities. I would prefer slightly more fill in foreface to be honest. Good shoulders and depth of chest. Liked her bone and overall quality. Two lovely ladies
