A big thank you to the society for the opportunity to judge and to the exhibitors for a cracking entry.
I had been looking forward to this appointment for what seems like years and I was not disappointed in the quality before me. As much as I love to see a proper ‘golden’ Goldie, coat colour played no part in my placings whatsoever. Only 2 observations really - some rather weak hocks in older dogs and one or two who were pinning in, both of which played a part in the placing of some exhibits.
BOB on the referees decision was the BCC winner Sh Ch Thornywait Starstruck with Lovissa JW, congratulations ! On agreement with my co judge BPIB was the BPD Ashbyglen Excalibur, BVIB was the bitch Sh Ch Goldmarker Luminara and BSBIB was the dog Mitchnel He Who Laughs Last at Buartone, congratulations to you all on your wins !
MPD (6) 1 Mains Putjade Perran by Gwyngala a well put together mid gold dog whose outline and balance appealed here. His head is developing nicely and he has a lovely soft expression, excellent front and topline and is nicely angulated in the rear. Although a little loose in front, in profile he displays good reach and drive and was probably the most together in this class.
2 Winsor-Williams & Williams Aurgentious Dearov Imp what a sweetie this lad is, not quite as advanced in development as the winner but he has a pleasing head and well set ears, enough neck, well boned forelegs and super feet, he has enough forechest and spring of rib for his age and went forward well but is just a little loose all over. 3 Callegaris Double Willow Quid Pro Quo
PD (7) 1 BPD and BPIB Holmes Ashbyglen Excalibur an absolutely super 11mth cream boy, so well balanced with a lovely head and soft biddable expression, he has a super neck that flows cleanly into well placed shoulders and stands true in front with straight forelegs and close fitting elbows, topline firm with a strong loin and nicely angulated hindquarters with strong hocks allowing him to move with good drive. There is nothing I would change about him and he thoroughly deserved his 4 class wins here today. Delighted that with the agreement of my Co judge, he took BPIB today, I shall follow his career with interest. 2 Putjade Perran by Gwyngala 3 Jackson Haines Leighsham The Cheeky Elf
JD (8,1) 1 Ashbyglen Excalibur 2 Jayakumar & Rajendran Zenevieva Bolder Than Brass another lovely young dog who was expertly presented and handled and showed good symmetry, he has a well proportioned head with enough width of skull, well defined stop and eyes holding a soft kind expression, forelegs strong and well placed with close fitting elbows and a level topline, covered the ground soundly with a good length of stride, he just needs a little more spring of rib which will come as he matures 3 Fenn Fulvia Just Magic at Jandeburn
YD (7,2) 1 Zubair and Loaches Thornywait Royal Rebel, For size balance and movement this boy was an easy winner of the class, he has a lovely head and such a soft expression, excellent neck and front with super catlike feet, body is developing well with a good spring of rib, deep chest and firm level topline, he is well angulated front and rear and is sound and accurate in the move displaying good reach and drive 2 Fulvia Just Magic at Jandeburn 3rd in a good junior class, this 13 mth gold dog has a strong masculine head with strong broad muzzle and high set well used ears, he stands on straight forelegs and nice round feet, topline is firm and strong to muscular well angled hindquarters and he moved out with good drive, he has ample bone for his size and a well covered body without being heavy but I just wish he was a bit bigger all over 3 Towers and Henderson’s Baricia Bella Divino
MD (4) 1 Putjade Perran by Gwyngala 2 Riley’s Wylloh Paddington Bear there is lots to appreciate about this youngster although he is very much a baby, he has ample bone for his size and like the winner his head is maturing nicely, he has a good length of neck and well placed shoulders with level topline and correct tailset but not the fluidity in movement of the winner and just rolling a little on the move.3 Moore’s Tenfield Klipspringer with Auryngra
ND (10) 1 Ashbyglen Excalibur2 Putjade Perran by Gwyngala 3 Zenevieva Bolder Than Brass
UGD (6) 1 - Ashbyglen Excalibur 2 Todd’s Van Gogh of Sunshine's Valley with Toddrosa (Imp Bel) JW 2 year old cream with a pleasing outline with good bone and substance but not over done, I really liked his head proportions and expression, he has a good length of neck and amply boned forelegs to neat cat feet but does tend to stand a little close in front, he has a good spring of rib and depth of chest with shapely hindquarters, on the first go round he out moved everything but on the individual I would have liked to see a little more drive, still much to please though 3 Clarke-Gears Dewmist Danzatore with Ousevale (Imp Swe)
GD (15,3) This was a super class full of quality right down the line 1 and RDCC Harris and Balls Wemcrest Out of This World JW This gold lad caught my eye on the first move round and for me was one of the best movers of the day, he stacks up nicely to show off a balanced shape with head and body of good proportions, muscular neck into a good lay of shoulder and standing on straight well boned forelegs and lovely cat feet, he has a good depth of body and a level topline leading to a correctly set and carried tail and is shapely in the rear with well angulated quarters, moved with total accuracy and excellent drive. A really promising youngster. 2 Hinson’s Cinderbank Move It JW this lad has a super head and kind expression and was well presented all through, he makes a pleasing shape on the stack standing with forelegs well under him and tidy elbows, deep through the body with a good spring of rib. He too is nicely angulated in the rear and moves with accuracy but I just preferred the front reach of the winner today. 3 Ogormans Berrymeade Billy Summers (ai) JW
PGD (9) 1 Webster’s Kulawand Skies of Blue over Benjcroft 2 yr old cream of very good size and bone, I liked his head which is well chiselled with a strong muzzle and correct bite, he has a lovely dark eye and soft expression, clean neck of good length with well laid shoulders and ample forechest, topline is straight with short strong loin and he is nicely angulated in the rear with well let down hocks allowing him to move with good drive.2 Lewis’s Fairwinds in Space Man JW slightly shorter coupled than the winner, I loved the outline and balance this dog displays in the stack, he has a strong masculine head and uses his ears well, clean neck into a good lay of shoulder and deep through the chest although I would have liked a fraction more forechest, good spring of rib, well bent stifles and correctly set tail carried well on the move where he covered the ground with long strides and plenty of drive, a close decision for 1st place. 3 Blacks Bencoe Just in Time del Avrain JW Ir Jch
MLD (12,2) 1 Gerhold’s Navilis Vivat Vivaldi JW (Imp Ukr) a handsome 3 yr cream dog slightly more compact than 2, he has a pleasing well proportioned head and a dark kind eye, muscular neck allowing for good head carriage and flowing into into well laid shoulders, straight strong forelegs and close fitting elbows, excellent topline and strong loin to broad and well muscled hindquarters. Such a happy dog who moves out with accuracy and good rear drive and was presented in excellent coat and condition. 2 Taylor’s Alibren Aldaniti at Tannadice JW this boy was lovely to go over as he is in such well muscled condition, he has a gorgeous head and expression, a good length of neck flowing into well laid shoulders with enough forechest, deep chest and well sprung ribs, firm in topline and loin with shapely hindquarters and well let down hocks. I thought the winner was just a tad stronger on the away. 3 Clunies Warrentor Bold As Brass JW Sgwc
LD (9) 1 Taylor’s Alibren Eccles at Tannadice JW 5 yr cream, this is a nicely balanced dog of good size and type, he has a well chiselled head with dark eye and medium sized well set ears, clean strong neck and well placed shoulders, well developed in forechest with a good depth of chest and spring of rib, in fit condition with well muscled second thigh, moved out easily and accurately.
2 Williams Eveninghill Detroit Red another exhibit with good muscletone all through and showing good balance, he has a masculine well proportioned head, amply boned forelegs and really super feet, good depth of chest and a well developed rib cage, strong and broad hindquarters with well bent stifles, topline could be a little firmer but this did level out on the move. 3 Fenns Chalksville Highlander at Jandeburn
OD (11,2) 1 and DCC BOS Fryckstrands Ch Dewmist Taste of Adventure this dog presents the most beautiful outline, he is strong and masculine yet with that little hint of elegance and is so well balanced. Beautiful chiselled head and soft but intelligent expression with well set ears used to advantage, excellent neck and front angulation and stranding true on straight well boned forelegs and round feet, mature well ribbed body with deep chest and firm level topline to correctly set tail, hindquarters strong and muscular with a good bend of stifle and well let down hocks. Presented in quality coat and furnishings. He is a fabulous mover, particularly eye catching in profile covering the ground with a good length of stride and plenty of rear drive. Ticked all the boxes for me hence my DCC winner today 2 Clarke Gears Ousevale Tobermory, a dog I have seen several times around the show ring, quite different to the winner being a tad shorter in leg but boy can he move ! He is well made with strong bone, good depth of chest and is well developed in forechest, strong and firm in topline which he held on the move and covered the ground with good drive, a close decision for the RDCC today, I just preferred the overall balance of the Graduate winner 3 Copley Sh Ch Monchique Imperial Beau at Emmabe JW Ir Jun Ch
VD (9) A lovely class of veterans so not surprised to see so many titles and awards between them 1 and BVD Gerholds Sh Ch Jaymardy Indian Pacific, I really loved this boy who is quality from top to tail and clearly doesn’t know he should behave as his age dictates ! He has a gorgeous head and eye with a soft and biddable expression, good length of neck that flows into well laid shoulders, strong in bone with deep chest and plenty of heart room, he did play up just a little but I saw that as enthusiasm and when he settled down he moved out soundly with good drive. An absolute credit to his owner and a fabulous temperament to boot . 2 Towers and Henderson’s Ch Alibren Galileo To Westervane JW SGWC, I notice this dog is a full champion which is a fantastic achievement!. He was lovely to go over being soundly constructed and with good muscle tone, masculine well worked head with dark eye and correctly set ears, clean strong neck and good angulation both ends, strong level topline to short loin and striding out soundly, pushed the winner hard but I felt my class winner was a little firmer behind on the day 3 Fenns Chalksville Barregarrow At Jandeburn JW SHCM VW
SBD (10) 1 and BSBIB Wards Mitchnel He Who Laughs Last at Buartone 3.5 yr mid gold d, a well boned boy who required the minimum of handling to show off his pleasing shape, he has a strong masculine head with a good width of skull and length of muzzle, well angulated fore aft with well spring ribs and strong loin, coat presented in good order, a sound mover in profile and true on the out and back 2 Middleton-Collins Berrymeade A Fool in Love of Jasperleigh JW, slightly higher in the leg than the winner, this dog has such a soft and gentle expression, he has a lovely neck and stands true in front on straight forelegs and rounded feet, he is firm in topline with short loin and shapely hindquarters, moved out soundly with an ever wagging if slightly too happy tail on occasion! 3 Burrows Dilworthy Secret Santa
