Weimaraner Association Championship Show
05.05.24
I would like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge at their Championship show 22 years after I awarded CCs for the 1st time and today the sun shone all day and there was a lovely atmosphere around the ring. Also thank you to all the exhibits for bringing such fabulous exhibits under me.
As there were so many classes and I found what I was looking for in nearly all of the classes I shall describe the main breed standard points that they possessed collectively instead of writing war and peace about each dog. Very few were oversized, the tail set has improved since I last judged them with fewer curling right over the back and more of them at the correct angle showing confidence when on the move. The majority were well muscled, and angulations were not over exaggerated. Heads were of noble appearance with moderate stops and most had round eyes and a median line extending back over the head and a prominent occiput. Ears were long and lobular, and many had the correct fold. Mouths were good with correct scissor bites and clean. Necks were clean cut and of moderate length, swan like necks were few and far between., shoulders were well laid with a level topline and slightly sloping croup. Forelegs were straight with firm compact feet and well arched toes. A few of them had high tuck ups which is incorrect. Chests were well developed and ribbing extended well back giving a short loin although there were a few whose loins were overlong and created a longer back Hind angulation was moderate with well-turned stifles and straight hocks . Movement overall was ground covering were keeping topline level. Colour has improved a lot with less of the darker greys and more of the true silver grey that denotes our lovely breed.
I thought my main winners were very typy and was extremely pleased with my final line up.
The baby puppy classes are a brilliant idea and was great to be able to go over the precocious babies before the main event.
