Hungarian Wirehaired Vizslas

Thank you to Boston Championship Show for inviting me to judge, to the exhibitors for entering under me and to Janet and Lloyd my stewards for keeping me on the straight and narrow. It was a super entry and there was a real depth of quality. My BCC and Best of Breed went to the top-class bitch Sh Ch Enryb Tickled Pink JW (Ms D E Loynd), with the RBCC to her litter sister Enryb Lily the Pink (Mr L L Lewis). My DCC and Best Veteran was awarded to the evergreen Sh Ch Tragus Fox Appeal (Mr P & Mr G & Mrs L Upton) with the RDCC going to Sh Ch Belatarr Kodiak (Mr D & Mrs J Spillane). My Best Puppy was the very exciting youngster Deifstock Dare to Dream (Mr W & Mrs S Cooper) and my Best Special Beginner was Kensesqui Japan (Mr S & Miss A Spavins & Senior).

1st Twelveoaks Goodwood Pippin (R Court)

A lot to like about this boy, full of breed type. I liked his head piece, which was refined with good proportions, good eye and furnishing to give a masculine expression. He is well made throughout, correct length of neck into well laid shoulders with a good return of upper arm. Stands on good well boned legs and feet. Good through the body, depth of chest and ribs have enough spring. Good rear angulation. Coat in good condition. Moved out well with a ground covering action. Needs a bit more finish on him which he will get as he matures, should have a bright future ahead of him.

1st Junetta Erno (Mrs A J West)

I preferred this chap’s outline and overall balance on the stack. Head is masculine with good furnishings to give a kind expression. Well made neck into well laid shoulders, good overall front assembly. Depth of chest and good through the ribs. Decent quarters on him. Coat has good texture. scored in movement, especially in profile.

2nd Zoldmali Daru at Genlusa (Imp Srb) (Mrs D Wearing)

Young dog, substantially built of good make and shape. Masculine head with a good eye. Good through the neck into a good front assembly, standing on well boned legs and good feet. Well made in body, depth to chest, moderate spring of rib, good back end on him, hocks well let down. Coat in good condition. Not as good as the winner in front action today and a bit unsettled, he got better as the class went on.

1st Ewtor Barking at The Moon JW (Mrs A E Moss)

A smart dog, I liked his size and shape. He has good overall balance and proportions. Super head piece with good furnishings and a lovely eye. Clean reach of neck into a good front assembly, shoulders well laid. Good through the body, slightly longer in loin, has a decent coat. Moved out well in profile, close up in the challenge just wasn’t as tidy as the principal winners in front action.

2nd Zoldmali Ezmi (Imp Srb) (Mrs A L Tasker)

Another with good overall balance and shape, looked good on the stack. Pleasing head. Moderate neck leading to well laid shoulder. Stands on well boned legs and feet. Good depth of chest and length of ribcage. Well-made quarters. Coat of good texture. Not as fluid as the winner on the move today and really didn’t get into a fluid stride which cost him.

Presents a picture of balance on the stack, good shape and overall proportions. I liked his head piece, well-shaped, masculine in expression and good furnishings. He is well made in front, clean in neck, well set shoulders and stands on good well boned legs. Well made in body, of good proportions, well developed chest, good through the ribs and loin. Well developed hindquarters, which he used to advantage on the move. Close up for top honours today, just preferred the veteran’s shape on the stack. Pleased to award him RCC. I’m not surprised to see that he already has his title.

1st Sh Ch Tragus Fox Appeal (Mr P & Mr G & Mrs L Upton)

One I have judged before and has done well under me, now 8-year-old but still on form. Balanced from any angle, he is impressive on the stack, presenting that typical outline. Head is masculine with a kind eye and has good furnishings. Clean, strong, reach of neck which led into well assembled front, shoulders well laid back and has the correct return of upper arm. Stands on well boned legs and neat feet. His body is well proportioned with ribs well sprung and loin firm. Quarters well made, with correct angulation. A tad slower than he used to be on the move but still had good footfall. My pleasure to award him the DCC and Best Veteran. Thank you for bringing him today.

2nd Belatarr Jupiter (Mr D & Mrs J Spillane)

This chap is seven years old and has the loveliest masculine expression, enhanced by a super eye colour. A rangier dog than some of the others, he has a good neck in to well laid shoulders, depth to his chest and well boned legs. Decent spring of rib into well-made quarters. Had a good profile action on him, just a shade untidy as he came towards me.

I really liked this young lady, eight-month-old bitch she has a lot of promise for the future. She has a super headpiece, balanced with a kind eye giving an appealing expression. Front is well assembled, good reach of neck into well laid shoulders and a good return of upper arm. Stands on well boned legs and neat feet. Ribs developing nicely and firm through the loin. Quarters well developed for her age, which she used to advantage on the move. My Best Puppy today, very close up to the RCC, I am sure she will have an exciting future ahead of her.

Just turned 12 months, I thought she was very typical, her head shape is good and pleasing with a lovely eye. She has a good front on her, shoulders well laid back and a decent return of upper arm. Stands on well boned legs. Ribs have a good spring for her age, and she has firm loin, giving a level topline. Quarters well developed with stifles moderately bent. Good drive on the move. Coat of good texture.

Three years old bitch, she has a pleasing feminine head and expression. She has a good overall shape. Typical head, ears well set. Good through the neck. Moderate angles fore and aft. Held her topline well. Would like a little more wire coat to complete the picture. Positive on the move, covering the ground well.

A smart lady, she makes a lovely shape on the stack, strides out on the move and grabs your attention. Her head is feminine, of good shape and well proportioned. Decent amount of furnishing to give that typical expression. Clean reach of neck into well set shoulders and a good return of upper arm. Body well made with good ribs and loin, giving a level topline. Quarters are well developed and well-muscled. She has a good driving action which gave her the class and subsequently BCC and Best of Breed.

2nd Enryb Lily The Pink (Mr L L Lewis)

Another bitch full of breed type, bigger shape and size than the winner. Her head shape is good and pleasing with a lovely eye. She has a good front on her, shoulders well laid back and a decent return of upper arm. Stands on well boned legs. Ribs have a good spring, and she has firm loin, giving a level topline. Quarters well developed with stifles moderately bent. Good drive on the move, especially in profile, just a shade close behind today. Coat of good texture. My pleasure to award her the RCC, I was told afterward she is litter sister to the winner.

1st Sh Ch Tragus Honey Bee JW (Mr P & Mrs L Upton)

One I have judged a few times during her career, and I like her a lot. Now eight-year-old she still has all those positive virtues. Presents a clean outline on the stack. Her head is feminine, well furnished to give a pleasing expression. Clean in neck into well set shoulders and a decent return of upper arm. Good through the body, ribs moderately well sprung and firm in loin. Quarters are well developed, with good angulation. Moved out well in profile, just not as tidy on the up and down today in the challenge which cost her higher honours.

2nd Nl Ch Zoldmali Anizs at Genlusa (Imp Hun) Sgwc (Mrs D Wearing)

A grand lady who belies her age. I like her shape on the stack, her head is feminine with good furnishings and a super eye. Well made, decent lay back of shoulder and stands on good legs. She has good overall body proportions. Quarters are well developed.
