Three Counties Agricultural Society

Breed: Dachshund (Long Haired)

Three Counties Agricultural Society Championship Show

Thursday 6th June 2024

Many thanks to the Society for inviting me to Judge three varieties of Dachshund, without CC’s, at this well organised show set within the lovely location of the Malvern Hills. Thank you also to my two ring stewards and, of course, the exhibitors for the lovely entry that I received especially for a Thursday, I was absolutely delighted.

Dachshund L/H

Post Grad dog (1,0abs)

1st Sundayshill Blackberry (Mrs. S Rees) BD BOB

Smart male with gleaming coat, good for head proportions, lovely teeth & bite, nice length of neck flowing into a well laid shoulder with good return of upper arm & well set elbows. He has good clearance, nicely ribbed back into correctly angled rear quarters, good bone & feet & moved out well to take his awards.

Veteran Dog (1,0abs)

1st Rossann Bonnie Blue (Mrs. SAR Hughes) RBD

Male of 8.5 years who was nicely made throughout but showing his age when moving somewhat. Good in head & bite, sufficient neck length into his correctly laid front, good underline, nicely ribbed back into well set rear quarters.

Puppy Bitch (2,1abs)

1st Swansford Daphnedora at Maudaxi (Mr. P & Mrs D Reid)

Smart outline on this pup but felt that a touch less weight would have helped the overall picture. Strong teeth & bite, nice in head planes, with neck flowing into correctly angled front & elbows set under. Good clearance & body length into nicely set rear quarters used well on the move.

Junior Bitch (2,0abs)

1st Kindeace Brown Eyed Girl at Gellijam (Mrs. R A Dunhill) RBB

Splitting hairs between the placings here today but felt that this bitch was a touch cleaner over the neck to front angles with better clearance. Good strong bite on this nicely headed bitch, good in body length & ribbing into her well set rear quarters, moved out well on nice feet.

2nd Cavallibrook One Final Kiss (Mr. P & Mrs D Reid) BPIB

Many of the above comments apply to this bitch who was giving away age to the 1st placed. Nice for head planes & ear set with good bite. Sufficient neck into her well angled front, well ribbed back & with body length into nicely angled rear quarters. Moved out well.

Post Grad bitch (3,0abs)

1st Loggeta Wynn by Myles at Clavennae (Ms. C A Foley) BB

Lovely overall picture on this bitch with good head proportions & correct bite, well set neck flowing into her correctly angled shoulder & upper arm with elbows set under. Nice for bone & feet, good for ribbing & body length with correct clearance under. Shapely rear quarters with correct angle set & shown in lovely condition. Moved out well.

2nd Sundayshill Savannah (Mrs. S Eve)

Just lost out on 1st place, for me, on the cleaner flow of neck into front of the previous bitch. However she was nicely angled at the front, nice feet & bone, good body length & ribbing with clearance. Rear quarters were nicely angled and well presented.

3rd Aurora Rude for Kendalldax (imp Ltu) (Miss SW West)

Dachshund L/H

Veteran Bitch (1,0abs)

1st Sundayshill Hermione (Mrs. S Eve) BVIB

What a delight to see a veteran enjoying their day & wishing to gallop around the ring. Lovely head proportions with a super bite & teeth for a veteran, good in neck flowing into a well laid shoulder & return of upper arm, elbows set under. Good for length of body & ribbing with sufficient clearance under, flowing into well angled rear quarters used well on the move.
