English Springer Spaniel Club Of Wales
ESS Club of Wales CHAMP SHOW 27/5/2024
I was honoured to be invited to judge at this show for my first appointment without CCs many years ago. To be invited back to award CCs for the first time completes a long journey in this wonderful breed! My thanks go to the committee for putting their faith in me and exhibitors for accepting my decisions with good grace.

Cl.9 Limit dog (4 1a)
1st. Topliss Beresford Bolt From The Blue. B/W I have admired pictures of this dog but first time “in the flesh” and he certainly didn’t disappoint! Head so well proportioned with fluting, chiselling and a defined stop. Great ear set strong clean neck leading on to well laid shoulder’s. Tight feet well bodied . Quarters are strong and well musled with nicely let down straight hocks. Good tail set and level topline. Moved with forward reach and using his hocks to give him true “springer gait” holding his topline and creating a wonderful outline on the move. In beautiful coat and hard condition . Honoured to award him my first CC.
2nd. Richardson & Terry Richardson Cherishym Dofida. B/w. Good head with plenty of chiselling . Not quite the reach of neck of 1st but well laid shoulders nicely ribbed body plenty of bone and superb tight feet. Moved ok but lacked the sparkle I had hoped for today. In excellent coat and beautifully presented. Would maybe like to see a bit more musle especially behind. Closely considered for the RCC.
