BORDER COLLIES – Three Counties 2024 Many thanks to Helen Wyman and her Committee for the invitation to judge, an appointment which was first made for 2021 but COVID had other ideas. I was delighted with my entry, thank you to everyone who entered and travelled. My bitch entry was deeper in quality than that of the dogs. I could have happily awarded five CCs in Open Bitch alone. Having said that I was very happy with my dog CC and RCC winners and others deeper into the classes. Some teeth were much cleaner than others and some presentation was poor on examination. Unfortunately we has a series of distractions for our neighbouring GSD ring, but the BC girls coped well once re-settled. Minor Puppy Dog(1, 1abs) Puppy Dog(3) 1 Laceway Black Sabbath. 9m b/w with correct head, ears and mouth. Good lay of shoulders leading into a level topline. Sufficient rear angles. Accurate when moving. 2 Roydenbark Meet Joe Black at Baywern. 11m b/w Good head and ears, Eyes could be darker. Unsettled at first but when settled moved steadily. Need to tighten behind. 3 Hazellex Oberon Junior Dog (3) 1 Littlethorn Ioniq. 16m b/w. Good overall shape and construction. Correct shoulder giving good reach. Good head and eye and mouth. Rear drive from good rear angulation 2 Tambuzi Ride The Storm. 17m b/w. Good head with alert expression. Correct eye and mouth. Good angles front and rear but not quite the reach of 1. 3 Borderbrook Stolen Affair Yearling Dog (4,1) 1 Borderpride Yes I Am Fayken. 16m b/w. He presents a very good shape from correct construction. Excellent head with good eyes and ear carriage. Good eye colour. Very good lay of shoulder giving a level topline which he maintained on the move. 2 Tambuzi Ride The Storm. Moved better in this class. 3 Wizaland Time For Change At Ginnylands. Novice Dog (3) 1 Roydenbark Meet Joe Black at Baywern. 2 Borderbrook Stolen Affair. 13m b/w. 3rd in Junior. Longer in body than others . He did move better in the class. 3 Locheil Rock Shore Graduate Dog No Entries Post Graduate Dog (1) 1 Caleykiz Winds of Change. 5y b/w. Stood alone. He has a good head with correct eyes and mouth. Shoulder good enough to give sufficient reach, strong topline. Settled to move well in profile but needs to tighten behind. Limit Dog (10,1) 1 Arrodare Family Tradition JW. 2y b/w. he present a beautiful outline. Good head with a lovely dark eye. His construction is very sound; correct front assembly, strong rear quarters with good angulation. Moved well from short strong hocks. 2 Moshanta May Contain Nuts JW ShEx OSW. 4y, b/w. Different type to one but has a good head pattern, eye colour and mouth. Good shoulder lay gives him good reach and he moved very well in all directions. Slightly squarer in croup than 1. 3 Pencoppen Good Timin’ Open Dog (6,1) 1 Sh Ch Thwaitlake Buzzman. 4y b/w. This dog is very correct throughout. Change of handler during the class did not help him settle. Correct, well defined head with good eye colour. Correct mouth. Correct front assembly with the best upper arm of the day. He held his topline well and his rear angulation and short, strong hocks allowed powerful movement around the ring in this class. Unfortunately, he did not show quite the same enthusiasm in the challenge, but was still a worthy RCC winner today. 2 Sh Ch Arrodare Truth or Dare with Arrodare JW. 4y b/w. Very close class. He is also correct throughout and has a beautiful outline when standing. Beautiful head and expression. Correct mouth. A good shoulder placement and upper arm allowed the reach I was looking for. He moved at pace but was not as accurate behind as 1. 3 Simmovon Shockwave at Tambuzi JW. Completed a very good trio of quality males. Veteran Dog (7,1) 1 Sh Ch Arrodare It’s Now or Never JW. 10y b/w. This dark dog needed to pull out all the stops to win this class, and he did. Good head with correct eye colour, ear carriage and he has a correct bite. He has a good length of neck which is disguised by his markings, and this leads into a well-placed shoulder and good upper arm. He has a well-shaped croup, with correct hind angulation. He has short, strong hocks. His movement forward and back is accurate and his length of stride in profile is a joy to watch. He is a real credit to his owners for the condition in which he was presented today. I was delighted to award him to CC, so richly deserved. 2 Sh Ch Cayleykiz Smoke On The Water. 12y blue/w. The boys also ticks all the boxes for me. He too is in superb condition and his movement comes from correct angles fore and aft and excellent muscle condition. He lost out to 1 as he is not quite as positive behind, but notwithstanding this he is a quality Sh Champion and again is a credit to his owners. 3 Tonkory Talking Point at Tidespring Minor Puppy Bitch (4) 1 Jaybob’s Childsplay, 6m, b/w. Still very immature but good angulation throughout. She has an overall good shape and moved with ease in all directions. Strong hocks for age. 2 Due Parchi In Bocca Al Lupo (imp ITA). 7m, tri blue merle. Another lovely baby. Pretty head with correct eye colour for coat. She moved well when settled but not quite the shoulder of 1. 3 Pencoppen La Parisienne Puppy Bitch (6) 1 Arrodare Fire It Up. 10m b/w. This girl has the most beautiful head and expression. Dark eye, with good ear placement and a correct mouth. She has a good length of neck, well laid shoulder and a good upper arm. Good strong topline leading into a well-shaped croup. Short, strong hocks. She moved with accuracy forward and back and her side gait was very steady and she produced the reach and drive I was looking for. BEST PUPPY and I was delighted to watch her win PPG4, well done. 2 Tidespring Take Your Time. 10m, b/w. This girl really scored in head. Strong topline and well- shaped croup. Not quite the shoulder lay of 1, but has a good upper allowing her to move accurately in all directions. 3 Laceway Bottoms Up Junior Bitch (6,2) 1 Wenmap Topkapi Gem 16m, b/w. Like most in this class, this girl was definitely wearing her Summer clothes, but has nothing to hide. A black front leg detracts from her movement, but she is accurate and stands parallel. She has a beautiful neck and front assembly. When settled, she moved well in all directions. 2 Tambuzi The Heat Is On. 16m, b/w. She has a good head pattern, good length of neck and shoulder placement. She moved well in profile, just lost out to 1 on hind accuracy. 3 Borderpride You’ve Got The Love Yearling Bitch (3,1) 1 Hysteps My Irish Coleen. 23m, b/w). Her lack of coat did nothing to detract from her good shape, moving and on the move. Good head and front assembly, leading onto a firm topline and well- shaped croup. Good upper arm and strong hocks. Moved with stealth around the ring. 2 Amkamel Chamber of Secrets. Another very nice bitch, standing and on the moving. Not the accuracy behind of 1. Novice Bitch (5) 1 Laceway Breaking Waves. 9m, b/w. Present a good overall shape. A correct head pattern, good neck and well laid shoulder allowed her to move with good reach. Well-shaped croup and strong hocks, giving her good drive. 2 Simmovon Among The Stars Avec Coussiere. Good shoulder and straight front. Longer in body than 1, moved well around the ring. 3 Borderbrook Stolen Moment Graduate Bitch (1) 1 Shemella April Showers. Stood alone. Slighter built girl with a good head. Mouth and ear set correct, good eye colour for coat. Moved steadily around the ring. Post Graduate Bitch (6,1) 1 Caleykiz Passion For Power. 2y, b/w. Well made girl with a good head pattern. Strong neck and straight front. She kept her level topline throughout. She has a correct croup and hind angulation. Short hocks. Moved very well in all directions. 2 Bryning Dragons Dare. 2 y, seal/w. Beautiful eye colour for her coat. Similar type to 1. Good front, strong topline. Good croup and hocks. Moved accurately in all directions. 3 Laceway Dream Of Albion. Limit Bitch (12,3) 3 very well made, and well moving girls headed this good class. 1 Arrodare Seen It In Colour. 2 y, blue/w). Such a beautiful head and expression. Correct eye colour for coat, well place and used ears. Correct mouth. Really well placed shoulders with a very good upper arm. Strong topline, which she held throughout. Well-shaped croup and strong hocks. She has an excellent side gait and is accurate moving away and towards. She carries her head lower than most whilst moving, which completely finished the picture for me. RCC, I am sure the big one is not far away. 2 Tidespring West End Girl. 4y, b/w. Different in type to 1, but nevertheless correct. Her head, eyes and mouth are all correct. Good ear set and use. Beautiful side gait and very accurate in all directions. Another who drops her head well when moving. 3 Tobermoray Heaven Sent For Flintrix. Open Bitch (9,1) Best class of the day by any measure. 1 Twaitlake Everything I Am. 5y, b/w. Turned out to perfection. Top class girls with a beautiful head and expression. Correct eyes and mouth. Ears well set and mobile in use. From her head to her tail she is well balanced. She shoulder is well laid and she has an excellent upper arm, allowing her the reach I was looking for when moving. Her length of body is correct and her croup and hind angulation give way to strong hocks. Her movement fore and aft is accurate and strong. In profile she is athletic and balanced. Really gives the impression that she could move at that pace all day. Carried her head and tail low throughout. A well-deserved CC and BOB. 2 Arrodare Beautiful Trauma. 5y, b/w. Another straight out of the top drawer. Beautiful head, with correct eyes, mouth and ear placement. Excellent shoulder. Good angles front and back. Strong topline and a beautifully tail which she carried well. Moved with accuracy throughout. 3 Fayken Hold The Darkness For Arrodare. Veteran Bitch (7) 1 Tonkory I’ll Be There For Nashdom. 11y, b/w. Amazing condition on this lovely girl. Still raring to go and her construction allows for powerful, flowing movement. Excellent shoulder and strong rear end gives her the tools to do the job and I have no doubt there is plenty of ‘go’ left in her. BEST VETERAN. 2 Fayken Striptease. 8y, blue/w.
