RETRIEVER (GOLDEN) DOGS:
My sincere thanks to the Officers and Committee of Manchester Dog Show Society for their kind invitation to judge and hospitality shown to me. Thank you to the exhibitors who entered and provided me with the privilege of judging their dogs.
A few notes recorded:
On the whole quality was good with some exciting puppies for the future.
A few exhibits paid the price for carrying too much weight on the day. There were a number of ‘flying tails’ evident, particularly when dogs being moved. Some exhibits also lost out on poor movement which was caused by their handlers either trying to move them too fast or not having proper control over their charge.
On a positive note – overall the temperament of those exhibited under me was good.

Class 2829 Minor Puppy Dog:
Quality class of puppies, at different stages of growth who I’m sure will change places throughout their show career.
1st: OUGHTON, Miss E C Carubelo Live the Dream. Promising 8 month old pale gold puppy. Balanced in outline, pleasing head, and dark eye with kindly expression. Good reach of neck leading into well placed shoulder. He has straight front legs with good bone and tight feet, Deep in body with good spring of rib and strength in topline which was retained on the move. There were no exaggerations, and he moved soundly and confidently at one with his handler to win this class. Best Puppy Dog and Best Special Beginner
2nd: PASTUSIAK, Miss K United Kingdom Du Bois De La Rayere. Similar remarks apply to another 8 month old puppy. It is hard to ignore his well chiselled head and correct eye shape providing a kindly, intelligent expression. Strong neck, well laid shoulders. Deep in body with good angles front and rear. Close decision, but not as settled on the move as 1.
3rd: SCOTT, Mr A M & BRIGGS, MR I D Largymore Ravagier. Impressive puppy I will watch with interest – Unlucky to meet winners on the day.
