Bath Canine Society

Breed: Tibetan Spaniel

Bath Championship Show – May 2024 – Tibetan Spaniels

Firstly, a massive thank you to the Bath Committee for trusting me with my first CC appointment, means the world to me having lived with this Breed for 50 years and still being deemed a youngster. Thank you to the exhibitors for taking my handling of places with very sporting acceptance.

Thanks must go to my wonderful Stewards Katie and Eilidh – who both secretly love this breed too – and are by my side for most of my major milestones.

Veteran Dog – (Entries7/Absentees1)

1st Place Ch/ned Ch Dedicated to Don't Waste Time Susu JW Jw'14 W'17 (Imp Nld) (Miss C L Cooper)- Pale Gold Dog, with white Markings highlighting his features on his head – with a pleasant clean eye and great lift to his ears, still with a fantastic mouth. This dog is slightly longer in his leg than 2, which he used to his advantage showing great drive and certainly didn’t need the veteran tag.

2nd - Ch Paralde Little Bredy with Hilsar JW (Misses H & S Breeze & Styles) 13 and a half, I have watched this dog for many years ringside, and he was always held in my thoughts, and he showed what Tibbies should be Moderate throughout – Fantastic coat textures, correct size and lovely balance on the move, just lost out to 1 today on his stand.

3rd - Ch Knattings Riverdance to Kensing JW (Imp Swe) (Mrs G J Lilley)

Minor Puppy Dog – (Entries2)

1st Linsdown Gabriel (Mrs L M Morton) 8 mth old Shaded Sable, this Puppy moved freely round the ring both out and back, good mouth, with lovely dark eyes, giving him a very nice Tibetan Expression, correct coat and showing moderate bone and nice angulation, great proportions on this lad will be watching him.

2nd Back in Black with Devontibs (Mrs M & Mrs T Quest & Conibere) just over 6 months and the baby of the class. Great dark eyes which enriched this colour lovely chin and blunt muzzle. His rear and his tail set were correct just lost out to one on his top line today – 2 months at this stage is a huge difference in development and will be watching this one mature with interest.

Puppy Dog – (Entries 2)

1st Baarnayotms Sent from Above (Mrs H & Miss R Asquith) – Wow this Puppy surprised me the most of the day – saw this dog from Ringside as a very raw puppy and TBH had some negative thoughts – however today – this was WOW what a difference, from the Side of the Ring to actually putting your hands on him – he complemented my DCC with the desired proportions, and was delighted to award him the RDCC and BP. Black and Tan with his pips coming through – excellent coat, and longer than tall with lots of the Moderate ticks throughout this boy- moved extremely well both out and in alongside his electric wheelchair and turned with ease showing great use of his hocks when needed.

2nd Mulltye Rol Mo (Y Tyler) 8month old, Smaller dog than one, lovely dark eyes and great ears with good lift. Lovely topline and tail set, a little unsettled on the move and narrower than 1, needs to mature to show his full potential.

Junior Dog (Entries 1)

1st Parloueve Made You Look (Mr R Lemon) – A very showy Shaded Sable who although stood along, used the ring to his full advantage, he was well presented with a balanced outline on the move, would like a slightly longer neck, great topline, lovely ribs and well plumed tail set on high. On the table his head was very pleasing with a lot of virtues to give him that look we all desire.

Yearling Dog (Entries 1)

1st Linsdown Gibran (Mrs L M Morton) – It was unfortunate this dog was on his own, as he seemed out of sorts with no Pals to back him up. Once on the move and settled he showed a lovely profile holding a good shape on the move with nice tail set and level top line, used his ears to full advantage showing the dome in the skull we are looking for.

Novice Dog – No Entries

Post Graduate Dog (Entries7)

A very mixed class is what my notes have here, with all sorts and mouths were somewhat disappointing which gave us some chin changes to the standard and wrinkles.

1st & DCC Saxtead Norbu (Mr N & Ms L Brown & Colaço) – Red Gold Dog with a bright white Chest. Wow he made me smile, this dog showed his socks off today, with great proportions, a head that just shouts Tibetan Spaniel to me – the ear lift, blunt muzzle, eye shape and colour and the cushioning with that “look”. A delight to go over and to watch on the move, worked well with his handler and had the length/height proportions that I love to see in this breed. Delighted to award him his first CC – and at the time of writing this I hear he had just got his second. Will watch and wait for his third with delight – I will address the comments about him being off a Balgay Bitch – with “this is My Type and what I love” – I make no apologies for this.

2nd Susu More Than A Prince (Miss C L & Miss E R Cooper & O'brien) this was really the only dog of the class to follow 1, slightly older at 4 castrated male, who had the drive and movement to match one, just not the length -fantastic topline, and loin he has moderate angulation were its needed which he used to his advantage lovely hare feet, in fantastic condition with muscles that a lot were missing today – unfortunately didn’t make it back to challenge for the RDCC.

3rd Susu Rewrite The Stars for Talistella (Miss E K O'connor)

Limit Dog (Entries 9/Absentees 1)

1ST Betranna Athos (Mrs Dc & Miss Lc Christie) – A lot to love about this dog, and today he was in top form, coming from Scotland I have viewed him from afar, and sometimes he can be that cheeky Tibbie Monkey who plays the game – however today his was on form and stood out in this class. Shaded sable with a hint of red Great Balance, with a pleasing head using his ears well, showing the correct stop and cushioned blunt muzzle. Well ribbed and covered, with correct coat and great top line and tail set – with hare feet to die for but not detracting from him being all Boy! On the move today he just was a class above the rest, his day will come just not enough Green Cards today.

2nd Quintrelle I Am I Said with Tibbitude (Miss Ke Hirstwood) This boy moved well, and I loved his proportions and expression, he was in great condition with a fabulous coat my main comment in my book was maybe a little more Ringcraft would be good and this boy could go far, his stand and stack let him down today. But movement he was up there with 1.

3rd Oldcharm Peaky Love for Alandobel JW (Mr A & Miss A Keepence & Keyte)

Open Dog (Entries 7/Absentees 1)

What a class, I was so honoured to have so many Champions presented to me.

1st Ch Susu We’re Gonna Parti at Parloueve (Mr S Lemon) – Particoloured, and wow this coat was presented top drawer – a true delight to go over this dog, he felt under my hands all over Breed Standard on the table, and had the most balanced markings on his face, with a depth of coat some Partis are truly lacking. This is a dog you truly need to go over to appreciate, with so many positives from his nose to his feet. Gave his handler a hard time today – but did it with true grace and that glint in his eye.

2nd Ch Xaramae Image (Imp Fin) (Mr A & Mr L Moran & Prouve) This 2-year-old dog, commands your attention, presented in fabulous condition, a head that screams Tibetan and Oriental at you, and his fringing is starting to come giving his head the frame you want. Dark eyes that draw you right in, and on the move, he goes round the ring with ease and is a delight to watch – just lacked the length of one that I was looking for.

3rd Ch Bowcara Be My Guest JW (Miss C A Davies)

Special Beginners (Entries 2)

1st Susu Parti in The Stars (Mrs R & Mr P Thompson) – Another Particolour from the same breeder as Open Dog Winner, Correct Mouth, with a dark eye and good pigment, showed a lovely bow on the front, great coat and condition moved well with a lovely topline and tail set. BSB

2nd Marlyoak Lost in The Shadows (Mrs K L Beasley) Slightly heavier head than one, Moved well, just needed to settle, lovely ear lift, and level topline, coat in great condition with well sprung ribs.

Veteran Bitch (Entries9/2 Absentees)

This class made me smile, lovely to see such large veteran classes, which is a true testament to out breed.

1st Chenrezi Love on The Rocks at Tremorvah VW (Mrs Janet Denton) – This bitch just made me smile and was so me, she was in my shortlist for the BCC, the Head – could be one of mine here in Scotland without a doubt. Ear lift, Eyes, Muzzle, Stop, Chin all getting double ticks in my book – nearly silver sable, with her distinct shawl, and great coat, level long topline, lovely tail set and moved so well- can’t believe she doesn’t have Ch at the start of her name.BV

2nd Ch Malia Yuan Zhi JW (Mrs L Short) another lovely older lady who I have admired from afar for years – didn’t disappoint on the table or the grass….. who would think these are old dogs – still got the drive and panache of the younger models. Moderate in all the places she should be, in great condition – was unlucky to meet 1 today.

3rd Ch Mullagh Twilight over Bowcara (imp) (Miss C A Davies)

Minor Puppy Bitch (1 Entry)

1st Quailmoor Gold Dust (Mrs M L Osborn) 8mths old, with so much Cheek – Walking in the ring wasn’t her plan today – but outside not a problem. We have all had them and today this lady wat that one. She has a beautiful expression, and I loved her head, lovely length to height ratio also just need to work on the walking.

Puppy Bitch (Entries 4)

1st Enaya vom Dach Der Welt (Imp Deu) (Mr A & Mr L Moran & Prouve) This 11-month-old lady, is so girly it is unreal, she will steal some hearts as she matures. Loved her head, and will develop into that head I love, eye shape tick, ear lift tick, great cushioning and mouth, with delightful shoulders and moved lovely.

2nd Baarnayotms Amala Anahata (Mrs H & Miss R Asquith)– Red bitch with dark shawl coming through – had a slightly longer Muzzle than one, and would be longer throughout, well sprung ribs, with a thicker coat than 1, still needs to mature but having to eat my words with dog puppy from this kennel, I am sure this could be one to watch as she ages.

3rd Mulltye Zal Ta Ma (Y Tyler)

Junior Bitch (Entries 2)

1st Crockerne Moon Dancer (Miss L J Purnell) – this gold bitch was in my shortlist for the BCC, she oozed look at me from the time she entered the ring. She is all girl that there is no doubt, from her head to her profile. Lovely head, with a delightful expression, great loin, ribs and topline with correct tail set. Lovely to watch on the move and loved her handler – will be watching this one over the next few years.

2nd Crockerne Moon Beam at Tibama (Mrs C J Borrett) Crockerne This pretty lady needed to settle today, had a lot of similar quantities to 1, just slightly straighter on her pasterns. But could swap places with 1 on another day.

Yearling Bitch (3 Entries)

1st Clydum Country Lass (Miss H J & Miss E A Simper & Scoates) – I was getting to the stage I needed a bigger car; this is another one that I could have snaffled home. A taller bitch than some of the others, however, was truly balanced and needs to be appreciated which can be done when you get up close. Great head – with again lots of ticks and beautiful ear lift – moved well with a lovely length of neck flowing to the correct shoulder and top line we desire.

2nd Crockerne Moon Light (Miss Kl Smith) another from the breeding kennel as Junior Bitch – who too had the lovely feminine expression and qualities of these previous bitches. Great pigment and oh those hare feet – topline not as good as one, but sure that will change as she matures.

3rd Tibbiestars Tutti Frutti at Lacoral JW (Miss H Smith)

Novice Bitch (Entries 4/Absentees 2)

1st Baarnaytoms This Is Me (Mrs K L Beasley) Black and Tan 10mth old lady, coat in lovely condition, with great eye shape, and ear set – slighty shorter than I would like – moved well and will love to see how this one matures.

2nd Tiny Winnie De La Valoubiere with Devontibs (Imp Fra) (Mrs M & Mrs T Quest & Conibere) Gold Bitch, with very pleasing head – just lacked the overall balance and outline of one, lovely tail set.

Post Gaduate Bitch ( Entries 6)

1st Tsarong Nyima (Mrs E Townsin) – This bitch is so much better once you get your hands on her, she ticked a lot of my boxes, correct amount of bone for a bitch, and pleasing head, needs to get a better raport with her handler to give you that extra special picture.

2nd Susu The Brightest Star (Miss Cl & Miss M & Miss S Cooper & Ottens & Ottens) This is a smart gold bitch, who has a lot to love just pipped at the post today by 1 for have a broader muzzle, chin. Total dream on the move, and presented very well, great shoulder, to end of tail with all things in the right place, a joy to get your hands on, has the much sought after hare feet too.

3rd Tamrae Parti with The Stars JW (Miss S R M & Mr I Thomson & Prentice)

Limit Bitch (Entries 13/2 Absent)

1st Tsarong Maezi Mae (Mrs M J Davies) – This bitch caught my eye at a show once, but then fell apart, but today she was on full showing game and oh my what a delight to go over.– So much to love about her, I was delighted to award her the RBCC, true delight to sign that card – At 5 years old, she was feminine, moderate and Tibetan all in one. This was seen in her head, eyes, ears and muzzle, her angulation was pleasing, and she moved well.

2nd Quintrelle I Believe (Mr S C & Mrs L J Hirstwood - Thomson & Prentice) This bitch made me smile, she was like me had a bit more covering on her ribs than some would like however her virtues could still be seen – Lovely feminine head, lots of furnishings in the right places, great neck well set onto good shoulders with the bow at the front we are looking for . Held everything in the right place as you would want on the move.

3rd Crockerne Love to Talk with Tamrae (Miss S R M & Mr I Thomson & Prentice)

Open Bitch (Entries 8)

What a quality class of bitches a true delight to go over.

1st, BCC and BOB Ch Castafiore Riddhima (Mr A & Mr L Moran & Prouve) – wow what an honour to get to go over the Crufts BOB and Group 2 dog for 2024, what can I say about Riddhima that hasn’t already been said, my notes show numerous ticks and stars on the total package, from her Nose on that lovely dark muzzle, with those dark oval eyes, to here rear movement and those trousers swinging as she commands you to look at her going round the ring – this was really an easy win for her – and I would find it hard for people not to see that from outside the ring –

2nd Ch Susu Wears Prada in Lockdown at Aarminias (Mrs M L & Mrs A L Place & Halliday) So unlucky to meet one today, gold bitch with as many ticks in my book as one, just missing a star – Lovely length to height ratio, darkest pigment and head shape you have got to love, moved with determination on the grass to show off all her assets. Which that there were many.

3rd Quailmoor Lady of The Lake JW (Mrs M L Osborn)

Aileen McDonald (Balgay)
