Penrith & District Canine Society

Thank you to the Committee for asking me to judge at this lovely show, despite the reduced entry due to another relatively local show I had a great time and the gifts were much appreciated. There were no entries for AV Import, BMD, Dobermann, Dogue, Gt Dane or Newfoundland. It seems that the catalogue mistakenly didn’t show any Ch titles but I have added them in this critique.

Rottweiler PG (0)

Rottweiler O (1,1)

Siberian Husky G (3,2)

1st Johnson’s Atlanticbreeze Bailey by Lupinemoon (AI) (IKC) – 16 mth d, masculine head but would prefer a little less depth to stop, nice almond eye, good length of neck but would prefer a more definite arch, front assembly OK, nice tight feet all around. Topline held well, good coat, a little straight behind which affected drive but nice even footfall.

Siberian Husky PG (1,0)

1st Johnson’s Atlanticbreeze Bailey by Lupinemoon (AI) (IKC) – critique as above

Siberian Husky O (3,1)

1st Hughes’ Ch Siberiadrift Keep Forever JW SHCM SHCEX OSW – 7 yr b, I loved this girl, balanced throughout and powerful, smooth, accurate movement. Lovely foxy head, super front, good flow from head through to a slightly sloping croup. A touch long in loin. In lovely condition, she was unlucky to meet the Malamute in the group! BOB & G2

2nd Johnson’s Kentwone Shooter at Lupinemoon – 2 yr d, masculine head overall but muzzle a touch narrow, good eye and dentition. Good body shape, ribs well sprung but would prefer a little more length of leg to complete balance. Nice shoulder placement, moderate rear angulation, moved OK but not as free flowing as 1.

AVNSC Working P (1,0)

1st Bailey’s Power of You From Gom Khyi at Sagrael NAF TAF – 11 mth b, Tibetan Mastiff – still a little raw as can be expected with a slow maturing breed. Nicely balanced length of muzzle to skull with good width all around. Good eye colour and placement, lovely ears when I eventually found them in her massive mane! Good front assembly, tight feet all round, good body proportions. A little straight behind and I would have liked to have seen more purpose in her movement. Nice, dense coat with ample feathering. Well marked but would have preferred a darker tan. BAVNSCP & PG2

AVNSC Working PG (1,0)

1st Bailey’s Brida Ligorjana at Sagrael (Imp Pol) – 23 mth b, Tibetan Mastiff – lovely feminine head on this bitch with good width to skull and muzzle. Correct ear size and carriage, dark eye. Nice length of neck into well laid shoulders. Held her topline, movement was accurate but could have more power. Good coat. BAVNSC

AV Working O (1,1)

AV Working V (2,0)

1st Nevison’s Ch Chayo Golden Touch SHCM – 9 yr d, Alaskan Malamute – I’ve admired this boy from ringside so was pleased to be able to get hands on him. Well up to size but balanced in outline, lovely, well proportioned head, good ear set and size. Good lay of shoulder and moderately angulated fore and aft. Well sprung ribs with correct depth of brisket, well muscled and moved very well, belying his age, accurate footfall. BAVWV

2nd Hughes’ Siberiadrift Keep Forever JW SHCM SHCEX OSW – critique as above

Working Group

G1 Aitchison & Hurst’s Kaskae’s Fire Opal (AI) – 2 yr b, Alaskan Malamute – This lovely girl wasn’t in full coat but it didn’t detract from her quality and fab construction. Lovely feminine head with a great expression, good width of muzzle, expressive ears, lovely arch to neck flowing into a slightly sloping topline. Good lay of shoulder with moderate angulation all round. Powered around the ring in the Group and I was very pleased to see her go RBIS

G2 Hughes’ Siberiadrift Keep Forever JW SHCM SHCEX OSW

G3 Bailey’s Brida Ligorjana at Sagrael (Imp Pol) – Tibetan Mastiff

G4 Brough’s Limubox Kausin Kaos – 10mth d, Boxer – a lovely youngster, head developing nicely with correct proportions and good depth to muzzle. Well set ears. Good front, body dimensions a little taller than long at this stage, nicely angulated and muscled rear which showed in his driving movement.

Working Puppy Group

PG1 Brough’s Limubox Kausin Kaos – Boxer RBPIS

PG2 Bailey’s Power of You From Gom Khyi at Sagrael NAF TAF – Tibetan Mastiff
