Colne, Nelson & DCS – 26th November 2023

English Setters

Post Graduate (1, 0 abs)

1st Smith’s Gold Mercury Beauty Style of Meadowrush (imp Rus).

3 year old blue belton bitch, feminine head with pronounced stop, length of muzzle equal to length of oval shaped skull. Shoulders well laid and at a good angle, chest deep but rather wide, straight front, tight feet with close toes. Level top line, good spring of rib but slightly short in rib cage, well bent stifles and good width of thigh. Movement was a bit erratic on the uneven ground, sympathetically handled.

Open (1, 0 abs)

1st Smith’s Bournehouse Secret Sunset of Meadowrush. BOB.

I was attracted to the elegant outline of this 4 year old orange belton male. Won BOB on movement, free striding and graceful in profile, straight when coming towards, head carried high. Masculine head, kind eye, good length of clean neck, level top line, muscular hind quarters, adequate width across thigh, well bent stifles, just need to watch because sometimes can appear too close behind. Well handled and well presented.

Irish Setters

Open (1, 0 abs)

1st Cohen’s Lynwood Merry May King with Shushana. BOB.

Quality dog with balanced outline and well presented coat. Skull and muzzle parallel in profile, neck well set into shoulders, slightly sloping top line. Good depth of chest and body, muscular loin. Good length from hip to hock, plenty of turn of stifle. Very well handled. Moved straight coming and going, looked good in profile, unfortunately he slowed down in the Group, I would have preferred to see him gaited in a larger ring, his feet could have been tighter.

English Springer Spaniels

Junior (2, 1abs)

1st House’s Gleadsbury Destiny Belle.

This 13 month old bitch was well presented in liver and white dense coat. Loved her head, slight curve to skull, obvious stop showing frown, attractive fluting, kind eye, deep muzzle. Slight arch to neck, sloping shoulders, enough width of chest, good bone and substance, well rounded feet. Plenty of length to rib cage, strong and positive backend with good angles, strong and true going away, moved well and with style once settled. Preferred the slightly more compact outline of Open winner for BOB, but has time to deepen.

Open (2, 1 abs)

1st Cunliffe’s Ir Sh Ch Calvdale I Say of Fallenleaf CJW18, CW18, CENT’W. BOB. G2.

A very pretty bitch, 6 years old and has matured well, loved her balanced outline, ideal length of body compared to height, angulation equal at each end. Well presented liver and white coat, plenty of feathering, adequate bone. Appealing head, well shaped and feminine, kind expression, alert and happy. Strong neck flowing to well laid shoulders, elbows close to body, impressive ribcage for length, depth and spring, firm loin. Well turned stifle, short hind pasterns. Moved particularly well with good reach in front and drive behind, covered the ground with ease, well handled.

Cocker Spaniels

Puppy (2, 1 abs)

1st Prydderch’s Rockllocers Atropos. BP. PG3.

Very promising 10 month old dog puppy in extremely well present golden coloured coat. Attractive masculine head, correct low set ears, distinct stop, kind eye, square muzzle. Proportionate length of neck set into sloping shoulders, hind angulation with equal merit, straight front and back. Pleasing rib cage with good spring and reaching well back to short loin, level topline. Well turned stifle and nice short hind pasterns. Still learning his job but moved well when settled, obviously adores his sympathetic handler.

Junior (6, 3 abs)

1st Terry’s Shaggylands Sexy And I No It.

Neat and tidy bitch in well presented blue roan coat. Well proportioned and with equal angles enabled good reach and drive, moved straight and true coming and going. Level top line, ideal ribcage, sloping croup. Feminine and merry, well handled.

2nd Eisen’s Kerriglow One Step Closer at Crankwoods.

Beautifully presented black male, was longer in outline, but had well placed sloping shoulders and good turn of stifle. Liked his masculine head, well developed skull, square muzzle, expressive eye. Deep through brisket, well developed forechest, well sprung ribs, wide loin, strong backend. Tended to pace whilst moving.

3rd Nutter’s Jennobar Greatest Showman.

Post Graduate (8, 4 abs)

1st Coombes’ Tomarisroan Star Maker. BOB. G4.

Appealed for her balanced outline, everything in proportion, slope of shoulder and bend of stifle just right. Attractive body properties, ideal depth and length of body, complimentary length of leg, level top line, impressive rib cage. Liked her head, well developed skull, loved her gentle expression from kind eye, ideal ear set. Beautifully presented blue roan coat. True ground covering movement, expertly handled.

 2nd Prydderch’s Rockllocers Happy Hints.

Coat not as luxurious as 1st, but clean and well presented, blue roan. Feminine head, deep muzzle, attractive eye. Level top line, impressive spring of rib, well turned stifle, strong hind pasterns, well padded cat-like feet. Moved well, sympathetically handled, would have preferred slightly more length of neck.

3rd Walton’s Annaside Lets Dance.

Open (6, 2 abs)

1st Terry’s Shaggylands Desperate Dan.

Appealed for length of leg to depth and length of body proportions, balanced outline. Masculine head, pleasing shape of skull and matching muzzle, loved his expression, what a charmer! Neck of good length, strong and well muscled, impressive angulation equal at both ends, moved with ease on firm, cat-like feet, well presented blue roan coat.

2nd Sewell’s Kerryglow Dream Again for Quattrozampe.

Appealing head, slightly rounded skull, proportionate foreface, expressive eyes. Nice length of leg, but length of body a little longer than I would prefer. Well developed chest, good bone, impressive spring of rib, strong top line. Straight front and back when standing but would prefer straighter front action when moving towards. Well presented black jacket, well muscled, moved willingly with merry attitude, covered the ground well.

3rd Prydderch’s Rockllocers Blissful Blush.

AVNSC Gundog

Puppy (6, 2 abs)

1st Hill’s Weipowa Double O’Seven. Weimaraner. Best AVNSC Gundog Puppy. PG1.

Felt good to go over, well knit together, firm with good skin and quality coat. Balanced outline, level top line, typical aristocratic head with equal proportions, intelligent expression from kind eye, correct highly set ears. Liked his shoulder placement and hind angulation, well turned stifles, short hind pasterns. Good bone, elbows neatly tucked in, pasterns need to tighten but at 7 months of age he has plenty of time. Well schooled, expertly handled, very promising.

2nd Warburton’s Owlspoint Loads Of Trouble at Heberhouse. Bracco Italiano.

10 month old male with quality properties, healthy and in very good condition. Strongly made and showing balance from every angle, compact outline and very good muscle tone. Appealing head with deep muzzle and large nose, fine leathers hanging close to cheeks. Straight legs with good oval bone. Well sprung ribs, solid body, wide loin, strong hindquarters with well turned stifles, drove well from short hind pasterns.

1st Warburton’s O Loads Of Trouble at H.

Please see critique for 2nd in AVNSC Puppy.

Post Graduate (2, 1 abs)

1st Warburton’s Withamfriary Lush Blossom at Heberhouse. Bracco Italiano.

Preferred head of kennel mate who was 2nd in AVNSC Puppy. Moved very well, true coming and going and showed power and style in profile. Obviously female, but had impressive strength to neck and body, well sprung ribs, broad, deep chest, straight front and back with good oval bone, strong, tight feet. Well angulated shoulders and correct return of upper arm, thighs and stifles with equal merit to front angulation, another who is in tip top condition from this kennel.

AV Imported Breed Register Gundog

Open (3, 1 abs)

1st Grime’s Ansona Jazzmin. Slovakian Rough Haired Pointer. Best AV Imported Breed Register Gundog.

In hard condition, well made, feminine and sturdy, well presented grey double coat. Liked her physical balance and calm nature, she moved steadily and actively with power, her stride was even and true, she covered the ground effortlessly and was a joy to watch. Appealing head and expression from kind eye, short smooth hair on ears, strong neck carried head above line of back, sloping shoulders, straight legs, well arched tight feet. Deep through brisket, elbows neat and tucked in, good width between forelegs, ribs nicely sprung and rib cage a good length. Impressive hindquarters, plenty of muscling, correct turn of stifle, hocks low to the ground, straight from behind. Well schooled and well handled.

2nd Botterill’s Awelymor Maelee avec Muddiwarx RL1. Barbet.

Has matured into a medium sized bitch who was biddable and loyal to her young handler. Did everything asked of her, level headed and intelligent. Tight strong black curls covered body, white on chest. Good reach of neck to sloping shoulders, deep rib cage, well ribbed back, slight rise over short loin. Useful length of leg in proportion to length of body, good straight bone, straight from hock to ground. Slightly more weight would enhance physique.

Good bone, straight front and accurate movement coming and going. Strong and muscular thighs, well bent stifles and short hind pasterns allowing for powerful drive.
