Maghull & Merseyside CS – 3rd December 2023

Pointers

PUPPY (4, 3abs)

1st – Millet’s Riowood Orange Twist. BOB + BP.

Very well made 11 month old male evenly covered in quality orange and white coat which had a pleasing harsh feel to it. Took his time to settle today, but then moved with good reach and drive in profile, had straight action going away and coming towards. Head still developing but has great potential, really liked proportions of skull and length of muzzle, kind expression from bright eyes. Symmetrical from every angle, long sloping shoulders, rib cage with good length, short strong loin, straight legs fore and aft, good bone, tight oval shaped feet. Well handled.

JUNIOR (5, 4 abs)

1st – Booth’s Lundgarth Jubilee.

A beautiful bitch with smooth stride once settled, good reach in front and plenty of drive behind. Was not happy today, but there is still time at 18 months of age to settle to her job in the ring. Loved her head, skull and muzzle in proportion to each other, defined stop, wide nostrils. Straight front, adequate width of chest, good bend of stifle. Orange and white jacket with healthy sheen, sympathetically handled.

POST GRADUATE (4, 3 abs)

1st – Booth’s L Jubilee.

OPEN (2, 1 abs)

1st – Booth’s L Jubilee.

Labrador Retrievers

PUPPY (5, 1 abs)

1st - Gower’s Deniangill Scarlet Ribbons at Aughtonchase. BP + PG4.

8 months old and scored highly in profile on the move, balanced outline, carried her tail well. Quality feminine head, intelligent expression from kind eye, ears set on well, strong neck flowing through to well placed shoulders. Straight legs, good bone, excellent feet, dense yellow coat. Correct bite, but she needs more practice at allowing people to look in her mouth. Well handled.

2nd – Smith’s Potterzuri Mister Plumbaa of Flyenpyg.

11 month old yellow male, well made and in hard condition, expertly schooled and handled to advantage, covered the ground well but tended to hold his tail rather too high today which spoilt his outline. Masculine head not overdone, appealing expression. Good bone, has time for his feet to tighten. Kind, intelligent, attentive, willing to please.

3rd – Markham’s Stmakajo Chengelo Cordova.

JUNIOR (6, 2 abs)

1st – Smith’s Meadowline Heartbreaker JW. BOB + G4.

I really fell for this 17 month old black male. So very balanced from every angle, felt firm and strong all through. Loved his head, broad skull, defined stop, muzzle with good width and depth, warm and gentle expression from medium sized eye. Excels in neck and shoulder placement with matching angulation behind. Level top line, short strong loin, impressive spring of rib, pleasing depth to body. Well bent stifle, wide thigh, hocks low to the ground. Good bone, strong compact feet, pleasing harsh feel to dense weather resistant coat. Very well handled and covered the ground effortlessly with good reach in front and drive from behind.

2nd – Smith’s P Mister Plumbaa of F.

3rd – Markham’s S Chengelo Cordova.

POST GRADUATE (10, 4 abs)

1st - Gannaway-Jones’s Scarisbrick Salt Marsh.

Upstanding yellow dog in hard condition, fit and well muscled, this enabled him to move freely and with drive, was straight coming and going and looked a picture in profile movement. Correct double coat, pleasing substance, strong straight bone. Masculine clean cut head, broad skull, powerful muzzle, intelligent expression from kind eye. Appealed for strong neck, deep chest, level top line and typical otter shaped tail. Very well laid shoulders, hind quarters with equal merit, well sprung ribs, short couplings, well developed hind quarters. Was at one with his expert handler who got the best from him.

2nd – Terry & Downes’ Ellukine So It Begins.

I liked the make and shape of this yellow coated female, she fits together well, built on flowing lines, feminine but with strength all through. Correct broad skull and defined stop, expressive eyes, alert and intelligent, preferred the balance of muzzle to skull of 1st. Angulation balanced fore and aft, ideal spring of rib, short strong loin. Covered the ground with ease on straight legs, at one with able handler.

3rd – Baron’s Landebec Crazy In Love.

OPEN (9, 3 abs)

1st – Ennis-Holden’s Stand By Me Of Misty Dreams (imp FRA).

Well schooled and attentive to handler, obviously loves her job, has a natural will to please. Appealed for depth of body, balance of angulation, strong quality bone, straight legs, level top line, well set on correct otter shaped tail. Medium sized eye showing intelligence and good nature. Strong body, well sprung ribs, strong well developed hind quarters. Well presented dense yellow jacket. Just preferred length of outline of Junior winner for BOB.

2nd – Scarisbrick Skyfall into Mossland.

Feminine bitch with dense yellow coat, very good condition with excellent muscle tone, devoted to her sympathetic handler. Balanced outline, excellent shoulders and complimentary hind angulation. At the lower end of the breed standard for height but has strength and substance and strong straight bone. Head with typical proportions, broad skull and powerful muzzle of correct length, kind eye. Clean neck flowing to level top line, firm loin, tail well set on. Correct turn of stifle, good width across thigh, Moved particularly well in profile, handler please watch when standing her because sometimes she appeared slightly too wide in front.

3rd – Smith’s Flyenpyg Porky Pig JW, OSW.

Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers

JUNIOR (2, 1 abs).

1st – Warren’s Afonbach Dreamfyre at Shorrocks. BOB.

Feminine 17 month old bitch in excellent coat and condition, well muscled, fit and in hard condition. Moved very well, expertly handled. Wedge shaped head with tapered muzzle, alert expression from almond shaped eye. Pleasing lay of shoulder, straight front, good bone, tight feet. Balanced proportions throughout, active use of tail showing her enthusiasm and joy for life.

POST GRADUATE (3, 1 abs)

1st – Warren’s A Dreamfyre at S.

2nd – Brand’s Coedhelyg Jingle All The Way.

3 year old male, happy and jaunty movement, well handled. Loved his head, clean cut, broad skull with narrower muzzle, expressive eyes, ears set high which he used well. Straight legs, plenty of room at chest. Topline not as firm, and unfortunately his outline was slightly spoilt by lay of coat along back. In full, freshly washed coat.

OPEN (4, 3 abs).

1st - Golding’s Kymin Va Voom avec Whenova.

Was very impressed by this balanced bitch who has matured well. In hard condition, moved with precision, very well handled. Loved her head and expression, feminine, clean cut, kind. Straight legs fore and aft, equal angles of shoulder and stifle. Unfortunately lacked coat today.
