Welsh Springer Spaniels

A small but quality entry, thank you for the opportunity of judging your lovely Welsh and your kind acceptance of my decisions. Also thanks to my two helpful stewards who kept things running smoothly.

Puppy 3 (1)

1st – Thirwell’s Ferndel Water Stone (AI)

9 month male of good type. Well balanced head with plenty of work and pleasing eyes and expression. Long neck set into well placed shoulders. Well boned legs and lovely thickly padded feet. Balanced angulation fore and aft. Good body and depth for age. He drove out well from correctly placed hocks, showing plenty of push and drive. Whilst he does need to settle in front, he won this class over a lovely young female for his overall balance and outline. I look forward to seeing him as the finished article.

2nd – Howarth’s Ferndel Starry Eyes

Quality female of 9 months, full of breed type. Pretty, nicely proportioned head with good chilling. Clean neck into super front angulation with excellent return and length of upper arm. Straight front, good bone. Lovely deep ribs reaching well back, good body properties and top line. Her quarters are well developed for her age with correct angulation. Once settled she showed good ground covering movement in profile, but was a tad unsettled going away. Just felt 1 was more balanced height to length at this time.

Junior 2 (1)

1st – Thirwell’s Ferndel Water Mark (AI)

Litter brother to 1 in the previous class. Impressive 9 month old male who presents a balanced, compact picture. Super masculine head, with good chiselling and kind, gentle expression. Long muscular neck and clean well placed shoulders. Excellent bone, legs and feet, and lovely tight elbows. Strong, firm body with good ribs and depth, and well set tail. His nicely muscled rear quarters with correct angulation are developing well. He moved out well covering the ground soundly and showing plenty of push and drive. BD, BOB, BP and thrilled to see he finished the day with RBPIS – well done!

Yearling 1(1)

Graduate 2 (2)

Limit 2 (1)

1st – Gibson’s Dearham Dilys of Cadehill

Nicely balanced, honest female of 5 years who was presented in good condition. Sweet, nicely proportioned, feminine head with kind eyes. Ultra feminine throughout but with good bone and substance for size. Straight front, nice depth through the body, and good angles front and rear. She moved happily and soundly round the ring showing good ground covering movement. BB
