Firstly, thank you to the Committee for inviting me to judge at their well organised show and secondly, my thanks to my stewards for your expert help. However, most importantly, thank you to the exhibitors for the opportunity to assess some lovely dogs.

Hungarian Vizsla

Puppy (4,2)

1st Reakes’ Vizslanya Varur

Bold balanced 11 month dog well built for his age. Classic lean head with correct eye and nose colour with correct v-shaped ears. Good in front and rear angulation. Strong neck leading into short muscular level topline. Well sprung ribs with adequate depth to chest. Moved very well so happy to give him BPIB. Delighted to see him receive Gundog Puppy Gp 4.

2nd Challis’ Vizslanya Vizi

Litter sister to my winner but most of his comments apply to her also. Pretty in head but well-muscled throughout and presented well. Moved adequately, I found her moving a little close behind compared to the dog.

Graduate (3,1)

Repeat of Puppy

Open (3)

1st Ward’s Danton Obsession with Tantaraviz

Well bodied pretty bitch who presented a clean balanced outline. Lovely in head with correct eye colour and shape with the required earset. Muscular neck leading into the slightly higher withers required of this breed, into a strong level topline and correct croup. Very good angles front and rear with neat feet. Moved very well to get BOB.

2nd Challis’ Vizslanya Aragonia JW

Another well balanced dog. Presented in excellent condition with good angulation fore and aft. Masculine head with good eye colour and shape. A little on the darker side for what I believe the standard calls for but moved well although I would have preferred him slightly tighter at the elbows.

3rd Kiely’s Gunfield Phantom

Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla

Puppy (1)

1st Cooper-Hall’s Harti Z Talhejow

Stood alone and first time out for this pretty 7 month old bitch and her novice handler so a little ring-craft ensued. Saying that with patience she presented a lovely picture and moved steadily. Promising in all aspects with correct head proportions. Balanced throughout with adequate neck, good stocky appearance with correct angulation. Good deep chest for age and ribbed well back. BPIB.

Graduate (no entries)

Open (1)

1st Collier’s Belatarr America

Masculine in all ways say my notes! Bold dog with lovely head fitting the breed standard. Enough length of neck leading into good shoulder placement and strong topline. Shown in good muscular condition and coat. Excellent bone throughout. Neat feet. Moved with drive and animation. BOB.

Irish Setter

Puppy (2)

1st Prangle’s Clonageera It’s a New Dawn at Heathclare

Oh my … what a promising puppy. 6.5 month old bitch who presented a pleasing balanced picture. Pretty in head with typically mischievous Irish expression. Adequate length of neck leading into correct shoulder angulation and pronounced sternum. Deep in chest with well sprung well laid back ribs. Strong moderately sloping topline with correct tailset. Would have preferred slightly more rear angulation but adequate for her age and this will develop. Good in bone with neat feet. Presented in good coat and condition. Moved well. Happy to award BPIB and to pleased to hear later on that she was given Gundog Puppy Gp1. Well done!

2nd Markey’s Yokohama Lofty to Evenflow (IMP POL)

11 month old bitch I had the pleasure to judge when she was younger. Has developed well in all aspects. Sweet headed bitch, correct in angles with deep chest and presented in good condition. On the day I preferred the overall balance of my winner being just a little racier in outline. Moved ok.

Junior (3,2)

1st Harris’s Zakhan’s Rough Diamond by Konakakela

Stood alone but a worthy winner. Judged him as a puppy and liked him then .. he has improved with age. Presents good overall balance giving a strong racy outline. Typical Irish head with melting expression but still masculine. Good angulation fore and aft. Strong sloping topline held well on the move. Beautifully presented in good condition and coat.

Post Graduate (2)

1st Bye’s Bluebyeyou Love in a Mist

This pretty bitch is quite my type. Not overdone in any department and very well put together. Balanced in head with correct planes, eyeshape and earset. Enough length of neck leading into well laid back of shoulder, gently sloping topline and the correct tailset. Lovely in forechest with good front and rear angulation. Deep chest, well sprung ribcage and strong on the loin. Good bone with neat feet. Moved very well holding her topline. BOB

2nd Purves’ Grousehill Penny Lane

Different type of body shape being slightly rangier. Another lovely headed bitch. Nice angulation front and rear. Well presented and moved ok.

Open (2)

1st Murray’s Bluebyeyou Love Affair at Derrydore

Sadly gave his handler and myself a little trial today but I managed to see more than enough to place him 1st. Litter brother to my PG winner, he possesses a lot of her overall qualities. Nicely balanced overall. Masculine head with lovely expression and correct earset. Enough neck flowing into well laid back shoulders, gently sloping topline and correct tailset. Adequate in forechest but would have liked a little more angulation in his front assembly. Correct bend of stifle. Good bone and neat feet. Moved well and just missed out in the challenge.

2nd Purves’ Grousehill Dream Boy

Like his sister in the previous class, this boy is different again in type. Lovely headed with correct eye shape and colour. Adequate neck and strong on topline. Deep-chested, well sprung ribs laid well back. Presented in good coat and condition. Moved well. On the day, just preferred overall balance of my winner.
