Dobermann Critiques – Evesham & District Canine Society

16th July 2023

Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge Dobermanns at your friendly show, thanks to my stewards Steph and Julie for helping everything run smoothly. Thank you to the exhibitors who brought their beautiful dogs under me especially after such a long day showing the day before.

Dobermann:

Puppy (4,2) – Two beautiful puppy bitches present in this class, of different type to each other but both full of quality. 1st, Merrett’s Korifey Sweet Child Of Mine – An 8 month old black and rust bitch of standard size and very elegant, feminine and balanced all through. Her beautiful head piece and expression was what won her the 1st place today for me. She has the darkest of eyes in the correct almond shape. She has good head planes and the correct earset. A long lean neck into good front angulation which balances with her rear. Her front legs are straight and finish with tight feet. Her rear hocks are straight and parallel. She is built squarely with nothing overdone. On the move she showed good reach and drive and was very precise for such a youngster. Pleased to award her Best Puppy and see her go on to take Puppy Group 2. 2nd, Tant’s Rafthouse Bundlebrent at Granadeya – An 11 month old brown and rust bitch of different style to 1st. Absolutely packed with quality and I was splitting hairs between these two beautiful girls. This girl was also very balanced and square on a slightly larger frame. She has substance but isn’t coarse. Her head has good planes and her eye is dark, her ear set is correct and she has good depth to her muzzle. Her neck is strong and leads to well laid shoulders and straight parallel legs on tight feet. She is very solid to go over with a firm topline leading to her well angulated rear. Straight hocks. She moved well round the ring showing good reach and drive.

Junior (1,1)

Post Graduate (3,2) – 1st, Seward’s Teuschons the Fierce Knight with Elleonia JW, this super smart young black and rust male of 19 months caught my eye for his balance and shape. He has substance without being overdone in any area. His masculine head has correct head planes, dark eye of the correct almond shape with correct ears set high and lying close to his cheeks, excellent underjaw. His neck is strong and leads to good shoulders that balance with his rear. Strong straight legs on tight feet. He has good spring of rib and a strong loin. Shown in hard condition he moved with enthusiasm exhibiting good reach and drive. Pleased to award him BOB and very happy to see he took WG2

Limit (1,0) – 1st Thorn’s Grafmax Lucy in the Sky, 3yr 10m old black and rust bitch who is balanced and square in profile. Her head is of correct proportions and has correct planes with a beautiful expression and dark almond shaped eyes. Lovely arch to her neck which is strong and lean. Balanced angles front and rear. She has enough forechest and good spring of rib. She moved with beautiful side profile action. RBOB
