Windsor Gundog Society

I want to extend my thanks to the Windsor Gundog Society and all organisers and volunteers, and of course all my exhibitors for making my first judging appointment such an enjoyable experience.

Brittany:

Puppy – no entries

Junior – (1,0) 1ˢᵗ Sampson’s Patouche Tacha – 13 month old bitch, with an excellent head: Lovely expression, good ear carriage, and good eye shape. She presented the correct square profile and chest to leg ratio, with a good top line. She is slightly straight in the upper arm and her movement was a bit erratic, but that is to be expected for age. Her chest is narrow now but will widen with age. Awarded RBIB – while she is very much a youngster (and this especially showed on the move) and will need time to develop in chest and body, she deserved the award for her lovely head and alert and intelligent expression which gave her the edge over 2ⁿᵈ in graduate

Graduate – (4,1) 1ˢᵗ Poole’s Bonapartist Temptress at Laurremar – Typey 18 month old bitch who had a lovely outline with correct leg to chest ratio. She has an excellent expression with gentle, intelligent eye and good ear carriage. She has the correct slightly sloping shoulder and her chest is let down to elbow and of sufficient depth. She moved with a lovely short stride. Happy to award her BOB as overall she presented a very nice picture with the outline, proportions, and expression I was looking for and that lovely breed typical movement. She should have a bright future ahead of her. 2nd Dixon’s Capenor Coco Cosette. 3 year old bitch. Her head is of correct proportions and has good ear carriage, but slightly wide in muzzle, and her eyes slightly close together which took away from her expression. She is slightly long in body and could do with more length of leg. She has correct angulation front and rear which resulted in lovely movement with correct brisk, short strides. She has good rib and top line, and her tail is well set and used so as not to detract from her outline.

Open – (2, 0) 1st Dixon’s Capenor Coco Cosette - see 2nd graduate. 2ⁿᵈ Dyke’s Rochus Silver Sage – 2 year old dog, who was wider in head which unfortunately detracts from the desired expression. He had good ear carriage and eye shape, and his muzzle to skull ratio was okay. He was carrying a bit much weight. His chest was let down to eIbow but he could do with more leg for overall balance of outline. His angulation was okay but unfortunately could not assess movement as was too unsettled.
