COVENTRY LADIES’ KENNEL SOCIETY – Open Show

Held on: Sunday, 1st JANUARY 2023

It was a great pleasure to judge this well-run show. Both halls were in use and the entry was good being the 1st of the year. All exhibits were clean and well presented, and not many looked worse off from the night before. I was very pleased to see my Group winner go on to BIS many congratulations.

BORDER COLLIE

P D/B (6,2), 1. Shahmatova, DR, Nashdom All Eyes On You: A b/w d that is just coming up to 12mths and is well grown. He is very pleasing to the eye and of a very nice type and out-line. Also, he was able to keep his top-line on the move. Liked his good angles to front and rear. Pleased to award him BP.

2. Green, & Patterson, Miss. C. & Mr. J., Arrodare Family Tradition: An 8mth old b/w d just pipped by maturity of 1st. He has a lot to like, good type and out-line and very neat. I liked him a lot, should do well.

3. Akester & Wiltshire, Mr., Mrs., & Miss, Thwaitlake Turn Back Time: A 7mth old b/w puppy b. She is a cute girl just giving away too much in maturity. She is sweet natured and of a nice type with a pleasing out-line.

4. Spurr, Miss, J.C., Hysteps A Shot Of Irish With Dreamwork: a b/w d just 6mths of age that has time on his side. He was the youngest in the class and was very pleasing.

JD/B (4,2), 1. Kempton, Ms. A., Clan-Abby Fly Me Over To Borderbrook, (Imp. Aust.): A 17mth old grey d that is well grown and quite thick set with plenty of substance and is of a pleasing type with a nice out-line. He moved out well.

2. Lea, Miss. S., Calareto All My Loving, JW: This 15mth old b/w b is very nice just didn’t move as well on the day. However, she is of a nice type with a nice out-line.

PGD/B (2,0), 1. Kempton, Ms. A., Clan-Abby Fly Me Over To Borderbrook, (Imp. Aust.): as per jun. class.

2. Lea, Miss. S., Calareto All My Loving, JW: as per jun. class.

LD/B (5,1), 1. Akester & Wiltshire, Mr., Mrs., & Miss, Thwaitlake Buzzman: This 2yr old b/w d headed up this class. He is of a nice type with a nice out-line. He has a masculine head, good length of neck, neat front and deep brisket. Good angles to front and rear, good back and strong rear end with neat hocks. Moved out well on the day. Pleased to award him Res. BOB.

2. Webb, Mrs. Y., Borderbrook Fire And Flame: A 3yr old b/w d of real quality. I particularly liked his head, nice front and rear. Unfortunately, let himself down on the move which was such a shame.

3. Kempton, Ms. A., Clan-Abby Fly Me Over To Borderbrook, (Imp. Aust.): as before.

4. Lee & Ratcliffe, Mrs. S., & Miss. J., Arrodare No Wonder: An 18mth old b/w b that is very feminine. Sadly, didn’t move at her best today.

OD/B (6,3), 1. Lee & Ratcliffe, Miss. B., & Miss. J., Arrodare True Legend: A 2.6yr old b/w d that is very neat with a nice out-line. He has a very masculine head, nice neck and good front, deep brisket and good angles. Good back and strong rear with neat hocks. Moved out very well using all the ring to his advantage. Pleased to award him BOB.

2. Shahmatova, DR, Nashdom Putting On The Style, JW: A 4yr old b/w d, just pipped at the post by 1st. He is very clean cut, of excellent type with a good out-line. Beaten only on movement, will keep an eye on him.

3. Kempton, Ms. A., Borderbrook Fame Or Fortune, Sh.CEx: 3yr old b/w b which should have been at the front of this class. I loved her, unfortunately, on the day she did not like the venue. Such a pity.

COLLIE (Rough)

P D/B (2,1), 1. Hoffman, Mrs. T.T., Tiganlea Tuesday’s Child: A 7mth old s/w b that stood alone in this class. She is a very pleasing happy girl of a nice type and out-line. She found the floor a little slippery on the day. That said I was pleased to award her BP.

JD/B (2,1), 1. Wray-Ramsden, Mrs. S.L., Takhisis Lady Of Mystery: A 13mth old s/w b that is not long out of puppy. She is of an excellent type with a nice out-line. She has a very feminine head, good neck and front and a deep brisket. Good back end with nice angle. Finished off with neat hocks which she used to her advantage moving out well around the ring. Pleased to award her BOB.

OD/B (2,1), 1. Wray-Ramsden, Mrs. S.L., Takhisis Lady Of Illusions: Rising 3yrs of age this s/w b is of a good type with a nice out-line. She is well grown and very feminine and makes a lovely picture. I was pleased to award her Res.BOB. She was not quite able to handle the floor as the one above on the day.

AVNSC PASTORAL

P D/B (9,4), 1. Thomas, Miss H.L., Chesmes Kutya Magyar Gryff At Mournebrake: Hungarian Puli, a black d, that is 8mths old and whose coat is cording nicely. He is a lovely shape and catches the eye when standing in the ring. But the most important feature which I particularly love is he moves like a Puli, not just straight up and down, he looks at what he is doing, which is fabulous. Pleased to award him BP  P.Grp.2. Well done.

2. Snelling, Mrs. J., Zhamanen Bezique For Beaugency: A 6mth old black Briard b, that is of a good type and has a nice out-line and moved out well. Just giving too much away in maturity at present. Should do well in the future, everything is in the right place, I liked her.

3. Reynolds, Mr. P., Austmans Barb Dwyer With Shardlow: Australian Cattle Dog, a b that is just 6mths of age and has a cuteness over-load. So happy, did she do anything right “No”, did she do everything wrong “No” she was enjoying herself. That’s fine, as she will do well when she settles.

4. Lester & Smith, Mrs. L. & Miss. S, Domburg Because It’s Me: BSD (Tervueren) an 8mth old b of a nice type with a nice out-line. Should do well when she settles. Lots to like about her.

5. Crocker, Miss. S, Leggats Jive Talkin: An 11mth old Norwegian Buhund b, pity she came up against the rest as she is nice and pushed hard, so don’t be to disheartened as I liked her and she moved ok.

JD/B (4,2), 1. Thomas, Miss H.L., Chesmes Kutya Magyar Gryff At Mournebrake: Hungarian Puli, d as before.

2. Cooper & Lyn, Mr. D. & Mrs. L., Pumiden White Said Fred: a 14mth old white Hungarian Pumi d, that is of a pleasing type with a pleasing out-line. His coat is coming along nicely and he moved well. He still needs to mature.

GD/B (6,4), 1. Apperley, Ms., M.M.A., Nracigroc Charlotte Jayne: Welsh Corgi (Cardigan), a 4yr old b that is a very sweet girl that keeps her top-line on the move. She is of a nice type with a nice out-line.

2. Thomas, Miss H.L., Mournebrake Fallen Angel: a 10mth old black Hungarian Puli b that is of a pleasing type and out-line. Her coat is coming along nicely. She was only beaten on maturity on the day.

PG D/B (4,1), 1. Cooper, Miss. J., Haveback Beech Haven: Welsh Corgi (Cardigan), a 3yr old b/w d that I judged before and I liked him. He is very easy on the eye, of a neat type and a good size. Held his top-line on the move.

2. Apperley, Ms., M.M.A., Nracigroc Charlotte Jayne: Welsh Corgi (Cardigan), b, as before.

3. Thomas, Miss H.L., Mournebrake Fallen Angel: Hungarian Puli, b, as before.

LD/B (4,2), 1. Apperley, Ms., M.M.A., Wild Card Ace At Nanaimo: Welsh Corgi (Cardigan), a 6yr old blue merle d, that is a lovely dog of a good type, and he moves out well using all of the ring to his advantage. He holds his out-line well.

2. Thomas, Miss H.L., Mournebrake Insomnia Cafe: a black Hungarian Puli b that is 2yrs old. She has good cords and is of a nice type with a good out-line. Moved out very well. Pity she came up against the 1st.

OD/B (6,4), 1. Thomas, Miss H.L., Mournebrake Flower Child, VW.: Hungarian Puli. An 11yr old black b in top condition. Her out-line is pleasing to the eye and she is of excellent type. She has a neat head, pleasing neck, good angles front and rear and is in excellent shape. She was shown in a fully corded coat of good quality. Moved out as a Puli should. Very pleased to award her BOB and Grp.2. Well done.

2. Smee & Coleman, Miss, Mrs. W., Mr. D., Int Ch/Ir Ch Balthazar Pumida Avec Schnaubern (Imp Cze): Hungarian Pumi. 7yr old white d. He is one of those dogs that gets better with age and his coat also gets better. He is a super lad and I had no hesitation in awarding him not only Res.BOB, but he walked away also with the Res.BOB Pastoral Competition. Well done, very well deserved.

2. Smee & Coleman, Miss, Mrs. W., Mr. D., Int Ch/Ir Ch Balthazar Pumida Avec Schnaubern (Imp Cze): Hungarian Pumi d., as before.

3. Walker, Mrs. S.J., Marsula Shogun, (Imp Aus) JW, Sh.CM: A tri coloured Shetland Sheepdog that is rising 8yrs of age. This d moved well in the class which was full of lovely dogs. He is of a good type and has a lovely out-line and was shown in fine fettle.

4. Gibbons & Blyton, Miss S. & Miss T., Ch Mangry’s Need For Speed With Wispafete, (Imp HRV) JW, Sh.CM TAF: Australian Shepherd. An 8yr old tri coloured b whose birthday was today. Another lovely veteran that was showing and moving well. She is of a good type with a nice out-line. She was standing in a great class of veterans, I liked her.

5. Henshaw, Mr. C. & Mrs. D., Dreamweaver Of Sereno Spirit, (IKC): A White Swiss Shepherd d that is 8.5 years of age.

AV IMPORTED REGISTER PASTORAL

PD/B (1,0), 1. Beeton & Abbott, Mr. D. & Miss R., Rastafellow’s OMG CHE Gentile: Bergamasco. A 6mth old d that stood alone in this class. He is well grown for his age and has plenty of substance, which I was pleased about. He has a good head, good length of neck, good brisket and good angles front and rear. He is a happy chappie and still a little loose on the move as per his age. His coat is just starting to flock nicely. I was pleased to award him BP  PG4 and Res.BOB.

OD/B (2,0), 1. Beeton & Abbott, Mr. D. & Miss R., Bellezzalana Arturo: Bergamasco. A 5yr old dog that is mature with a well flocked coat. He is of a pleasing type with a nice out-line and well balanced throughout. Good head and front, nice back and good rear angles and neat hocks. Pleased to award BOB to this happy dog who moved well around the ring.

2. Henshaw, Mr. C. & Mrs. D., Dreamweaver Of Sereno Spirit, (IKC): White Swiss Shepherd Dog, 8.5yr old d of a nice type and out-line. He is pleasing with nice angles. Just let himself down in movement which could have been the floor which was quite slippery.

PASTORAL GROUP:

1. Irving, Mrs., K.M. & Miss T.J., Twinan Hand In The Cookie Jar: Welsh Corgi (Pembroke). A 17mth tri coloured b that just took my eye. She is feminine and oozes quality with a lovely top-line which she kept when on the move. She won this quality Grp and later went on to BIS. Congratulations

2. Thomas, Miss H.L., Mournebrake Flower Child, VW.: Hungarian Puli, b, as before.

3. Hateley, Mrs., K.E., Lizmark Lullaby Moon Over Mohnesee, JW: Shetland Sheepdog. A 2yr old blue merle b of super type and out-line that was shown in good coat. She showed herself off well in this super group, strutting around as if she owned the place. Well-deserved her group placing.

4. Rivers, Miss J., Orora’s French Silk At Merrimak, JW: Bearded Collie b that is 15mths old with lots of substance and shown in a black & white coat. She is of a lovely type with a good out-line. Moved out and showed well in the group ring. Well done.

PASTORAL PUPPY GROUP:

1. Hateley, Mrs., K.E., Mohnesee Coconut Dream: an 8.5mth old s/w Shetland Sheepdog b. that is of a lovely type with a good out-line and is pleasing to handle. She was a proper little trooper that showed and strutted her stuff around the ring. Well done.

2. Thomas, Miss H.L., Chesmes Kutya Magyar Gryff At Mournebrake: Black Hungarian Puli, d, as before.

3. Morris, Miss A.J., Reach For The Stars, (NBT.): A 10mth old Welsh Corgi (Pembroke) tri coloured d that is well grown for his age that handled the floor well. He is of a good type with a good out-line and deserved his placing today.

4. Beeton & Abbott, Mr. D. & Miss R., Rastafellow’s OMG CHE Gentile: Bergamasco. 6mth old d, as above.
