Japanese Chin and Papillons

Firstly I would like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge and for their excellent hospitality. I thoroughly enjoyed my day. The floors at equestrian centres can be problematic for toy breeds so it was fantastic to see that mats had been used.

Papillon

A breed that I love dearly, having owned them for a great many years. There is nothing more beautiful than a butterfly flying gracefully around a show ring.

Post Graduate (1,0)

1 Humphrey, Lilnrose Butterfly Kisses to Gloynbyw. 3 year old sable and white bitch. A dainty little girl who was well schooled in her job and demonstrated the alert and friendly disposition I like to see in a Papillon. A pleasing head with correct sized eyes and typical butterfly ears at 45 degree angle and with nice fringing, which she used well, giving off an overall pretty expression. Good scissor bite with thin lips. Well bodied and displaying sound movement fore and aft. Well angulated front. Her coat has the correct silky texture and she is put down in excellent condition. Feet are hare like and tail set on high with a nice plume. BOB.

1 Humphrey, Caraideas The Extra Mile to Gloynbyw ShCM. 8 year old tricolour dog. A veteran dog who still knows his job, another well-schooled exhibit from this kennel. Very similar in head properties to his kennel mate, with well set eyes, and well fringed ears set at the correct angle and used nicely to give the typical butterfly expression. Correct bite, but dentition does belie his age. Very sound movement, well angulated and good turn of stifle. Drives well from the rear to demonstrate free flowing gait and parallel hare feet. Correct proportion of body to leg length. In the challenge, I preferred the dentition, confidence and coat of his kennel mate.
