Breed: Dalmatian

Dalmatian Junior

1st 173: Keiradal Thunderstruck: 14-month-old liver boy. Made of solid construction, correct bit and of the correct height. Nice well-defined ears and moderate amount of stop and lovely deep chest, he had a nice free moving stride, when he finally settled on the move. Tail carriage needs to settle slightly and would prefer a bit more weight on him.

Dalmatian graduate:

1st 170 Akoni Athos Comte De La Fere- 23 month dog, well up to size, but made of good construction and balanced all over. Head of fair length leading into moderate amount of stop. Nice dark eyes, another good chest leading into well laid shoulders. Unfortunately, markings could be cleaner, but he has a great freedom of movement, with a lovely long stride covering the ground well and held his topline, just needs a bit more confidence in the ring and to see his tail wagging on the stand, which is what cost him in the challenge.

Dalmatian limit:

Tippledal Tarw Du At Opalsnow – 5-year-old dog. Another well-made dog, lovely head with moderate amount of stop, correct bite and nice dark eye. A nicely arching neck leading into well laid-back shoulders. Nicely muscled hindquarters. Markings could be more defined but moved round the ring in a smooth powerful action, tail needs to settle on the move.

2nd Keiradal Syrena – 4-year-old black and white bitch of the correct height and weight. Lovely markings, with nice expression. Moderate amount of stop, and nice dark eye. Correct bite. Well laid shoulders with ribs well sprung. Unfortunately, she was playing her handler up so movement was not as good as 1st, but still a lovely bitch.

Dalmatian open:

1st Keiradal Mel’s Destiny – 8-year-old liver spotted bitch, from the moment she came into the ring her tail did not stop wagging, ever the showgirl. Head of fair length, with moderate amount of stop. Free from wrinkle, nice amber eye, correct height. A nicely arched neck leading into well laid-back shoulders. Elbows set close to the body and straight forelegs. Nice clean spotting, a lovely smooth and powerful action covering the ring so well. It was lovely to watch a veteran still have such good freedom of movement. Pleased to award her Best of Breed.

2nd Maddidalli Embers Glow- 6-Year-old black and white spotted bitch. Another very happy bitch that did not stop wagging her tail from the moment she came into the ring. On the bigger side of the standard, head of fair length, and reasonably broad between the ears, would prefer a more defined stop. Correct bite. Nice dark eye. Shoulders well laid back and ribs well sprung. Forelegs straight. Well-muscled hindquarters. Level top line which is carried well on the move. Another powerful mover with good rhythmic action, just a little closer behind than 1st. Well-handled. Res Best of Breed.

Handling classes:

6-11 years old

1st 136 Texas-Lee Dunstone. Young girl handling a Norfolk terrier. Very smart in appearance, lines were nice a neat, teeth work was shown correctly. She kept talking to her dog and giving encouragement when on the move, which was nice to see. Shadowing was very good, always aware of my position, and this was the winning factor for me.

2nd 111 Molly Whisker – Young girl handling a border terrier. This little puppy was really on their toes today and playing their handler up. However, this handler managed to answer all of their questions correctly, and lines where nice and neat on the triangle. They were able to stay calm and present their dog to the best of their ability.

12-16 yrs

1st 112 Elayna Mitchell. Another well-presented handler, that really did show their border terrier off to the best. Shadowing work was good, always aware of my position. All three sides of the teeth were shown correctly. The anatomy question was answered correctly. This little terrier was being rather on the naughty side, but this handler kept calm and still managed to get the best out of their performance.

2nd 133 Lewis Wilkinson., This little JRT puppy was really enjoying their day out and was playing their handler up today. However, this handler managed to stay calm, still present their dog well. Pattern work was good with nice straight lines and tight corners, teeth were shown correctly. Lead work could be neater, as lead was dangling when on the stand, and this was the only difference between 1st. None the less a very good handler in the making.

17-34 Years

1st 297 Kittiana French: handling a pom. Once again, another very well-presented handler, That correctly completed everything I asked of her without any hesitation. The anatomy question was answered correctly, teeth work was good. The pattern was executed perfectly with very nice tight lines and corners. Always talking to her dog and really getting the best out of the partnership. Lead work was very neat and tidy. Please to award Best Adult Handler and Best Handler in Show.

2nd 141, Rhianne Mitchell. Good performance from this handler, answered all of my questions correctly, and shadowed well. Pattern work was good with nice neat corners and straight lines. Lead work could be a little tidier, as the dangling lead did cost them, but another good handler none the less.

Adult handling:

This was my toughest class of the day, there were a lot of strong handlers in this class.

1st 101, Tracey Anscombe handling a border terrier. This handler made a good impression as soon as they walked in the ring, always aware of my position, with faultless shadowing, even when I was trying to catch them out. Teeth work was spot on, and the best presented in the class. The anatomical questions were answered correctly and without hesitation. Pattern work was correct with good tight lines and neat corners. Lead work was neat and tidy. Overall, a very well-polished handler that really did get the best out of their dog.

2nd 457 Anne-Marie Taylor. Another very good handler, who answered all of my questions without hesitation. The pattern work was also very good, and shadowing was executed perfectly. Lead work was neat and tidy, I just preferred the presentation of teeth of my winner, however still a very good handler with a good performance.
