Crystal Palace Canine Association

Crystal Palace Canine Association. – Sunday 26 November 2023.

Thank you for the invitation to judge my favourite breeds at this well run show. I appreciated my able steward who kept the ring flowing in the freezing conditions and all the exhibitors for their entries. All were presented in beautiful clean coats and handled well I was truly spoiled for choice.

Border Collies

Border Collies Puppy (4,1)

1st Crantzfold Hera at Moshanta

What a lovely start to the day with this quality feminine black and white bitch puppy of 10 months old. She has a lovely head with dark expressive eyes, nice set ears. She has a strong neck leading into well laid shoulders and firm top line that she kept on the move. Nice feet and strong bone, she moved around as though she owned the ring with style and grace. Best Puppy

2nd Cwnhapus Jewel In The Crown

A 6 month old baby giving a lot away to first in this class, she is well up to size and presented a pleasing picture, still to develop in a lot of areas but coming along the correct lines, she moved freely and smoothly typical of her breed.

3rd Foxdawn Fantastic Fox

Border Collies Junior (2,1)

1st Cwnhapus Jewel In The Crown, 2nd in puppy.

Border Collies Post Graduate (4,2)

1st Cwnhapus Celestial Beauty JW

Like this girl for her breed type and she created a balanced picture standing, dark well set eyes with a well developed broad head giving an alert keen expression, good arch to neck flowing into well laid shoulders and good length of back, she moved free and covered the ground with minimum effort.

2nd Jupavia Silver Thread

This girl is very much at a junior stage of her development, she is well proportioned and has enough substance, stands on a nice front and moves well just needs more body and coat to complete the picture.

Border Collies Open (4,2)

1st Moshanta May Contain Nuts

Loved this boy as soon as I set eyes on him, he looked at me with a familiar keen alert expression, from his dark expressive eyes and well set ears, his head is strong and balanced enhanced by his facial markings.

He has a jet black dense coat and sparkling whites, standing he is well balanced throughout with correct angulation and short hocks, when asked to move he did not disappoint he moved in classic border collie mode head down, reaching out and driving well behind I could have watched him all day as he was at one with handler. Later noting his sire I can see why he appealed to me so much he has inherited a lot of his sires’ qualities in my opinion. Best of Breed

2nd Kirkbridgend Rhea

A lovely blue veteran girl (7) that was a pleasure to go over she was thoroughly enjoying her day out.

She was a well-balanced girl with a nice head and expression she moved well and covered the ground with ease, just couldn’t match 1 on style and ring presence.

Smooth Collie

Smooth Collie Junior (1)

1st Lizoni Little Sure Shot, nice tricolour bitch with good head, sweet eyes, with well set ears given a pleasing expression. Nice size, with good proportions creating a balanced outline when standing. She moved well in all directions with good driving action from rear. She was in sparkling condition, but nails need some attention. BOB & BP

Shetland Sheepdogs

Shetland Sheepdog Puppy (5,0)

1st Dippersmoor In Dreams

Beautiful tricolour who caught my eye as soon as she entered the ring well developed for age, quality bitch with a lovely head, nice dark eyes creating a sweet expression. She has a lovely arched neck flowing into well laid shoulders, good length of back. She moved with purpose on well-padded feet covering the ground with ease, her jet black coat was presented perfectly to flatter her flowing lines. Best Puppy

2nd Wavesong Born to be Wild

This sable baby was giving a lot away to first both in age and maturity but won her place on her graceful movement driving well from behind. Her shaded sable coat is developing nicely. She has a nice head but would like a sweeter expression that should come as she matures. She has a balanced shape and was attentive to handler.

3rd Valdosta Lionking At Lynscot

Shetland Sheepdog Junior (4,1)

1st Evad Halloween Spice WOW this Golden sable bitch was breathtaking to me, I loved everything about her. She presented a lovely picture standing, attentive to handler. Once on the table her quality shown through, she has the softest expression. Her head is perfect for me with the correct blunt wedge, obliquely set almond eye and ears bang on top. She has well laid shoulders and good spring of ribs, correct length of back that all came together on the move when she flowed around the ring with ease to win 2 classes and Best of Breed

2nd Dukeson Its Amazing

Another sable and white bitch presenting a pleasing picture standing, correct size and feminine good length of neck and overall shape, moved well, just not the sparkle of winner.

3rd Valdosta Galadriel at Faemadra JW

Shetland Sheepdog Post Graduate (5,1)

1st Evad Halloween Spice as before.

2nd Dippersmoor Daquiri at Sonspirit

This was a handsome shaded sable dog was well up to size with a profuse well fitting coat he was impressive standing never put a foot wrong. On handling he was masculine with no sign of coarseness well balanced throughout. He was well made with a balanced head with correct eye placement and ears carriage giving the desired expression for a male. Move with drive, just pipped today by the captivating sable bitch res Best of Breed

3rd Evad Lite Breeze

Shetland Sheepdog Open (6,4)

1st Dukeson Laced with Magic

A pleasing bitch longer cast than others present today but still providing a balanced picture, with a correct feminine expression and arched neck, moved well in all direction would like more bone to enhance her qualities.

2nd Carolelen Call My Bluff at Faemadra

Fully matured sable and white bitch I liked her well balanced head and sweet expression, well arched neck and length of back not just as powerful on the move as one.
