Hampshire Gundog Society
I should like to extend my sincere thanks to the Officers and Committee for inviting me to judge at this Premier Gundog show. It was a very enjoyable day and I very much appreciated the opportunity and the support from the exhibitors to assess some lovely dogs.
Many thanks to my 2 stewards (one of which was a student Steward) for their efficient running of my ring and their jovial approach.
ITALIAN SPINONE
Special Yearling (2)
1ST Anderson & Mayne, Mrs J & Miss L, Annilann Temptress Del Michiamo: A beautifully presented and handled bitch of just over 15 months of age. Of very good breed type and excellent proportions and bone throughout. Good head with clear divergent head planes, deep muzzle and kind expression. Correct mouth with clean and complete dentition, powerful neck, good shoulder and corresponding return of upper arm, correct topline rising gently to broad loin, good bend of stifle, moved very well but a little close behind. Reserve Best Of Breed.
2ND Wakeling, Mrs J, Fioralba Angelina: Another very pleasing exhibit of 23 months of age. Well balanced all through. Typical head. Dentition correct, clean and complete. Loin of optimum length for me. Deep chest and good forehand construction. Well made hindquarters. Coat of good texture. Not as one with handler when moving which led to some inaccuracy and untidiness.
Post Graduate (2, 1abs)
1ST Collett, Mr I, Stagerun Matteo: A clearly much loved and adored male of nearly 3 years of age. Shown and handled well. Correct head and kind expression, correct ears set on level with corner of eye and carried low, correct mouth, powerful well muscled neck that appeared to be too short – this is an illusion created by him be far too heavy and over-loaded across the shoulders, slightly short in upper arm, good body proportions, strong hindquarters, coarse dense coat, moved soundly.
Open (2)

Good head with clear divergent head planes, dentition correct, clean and complete, deep muzzle and kind expression. LAGOTTO ROMAGNOLO
Special Yearling (2)
1ST Tindall, Miss S, Greenbanks Kara: Feminine bitch of 23 months of age, very clean in outline, presented and shown well. Pleasing head, strong muzzle and correct, clean and complete dentition, strong, slightly arched neck into well placed shoulders with elbows that are close fitting. Compact body with short loin of optimum length for me and strong hindquarters. Moved very well and accurately. Best of Breed.
2ND Roberts, Mrs K, Havana King Of The Truffles To Byphar (IMP SRB): Bitch of 18 months of age, good proportions, pleasing all through, good bone for age, head of correct skull to muzzle proportions. Dentition correct, clean and complete, Strong neck. Deep chest. Well ribbed back. Well angulated hindquarters. Good coat. When stacked, she has a tendency to be over-stretched. When moving, there is no doubt that this bitch is very sound but she was moved too fast, which in turn lost accuracy. Reserve Best of Breed
Open (2, 1abs)
1ST Drake, Mrs J, Mikette How Far I’ll Go To Clamerkin: I absolutely loved the type and stature of this 3 year old bitch – the best exhibit of this breed on the day in terms of conformity to breed standard but sadly she moved very close behind on the day, something which I could not overlook. Presented an excellent outline. Good head correct proportions with strong muzzle. Correct, clean and complete dentition. Short, muscular and slightly arched neck into shoulders that are moderately laid back. Well ribbed back leading to short loin. Good topline and correct tailset. Strong well-muscled hindquarters. Moved well. Very good coat texture.
