Brittany Club Of Great Britain

It was a tremendous honour to be invited to judge at this show and I would like to pay my very special thanks to the Officers and Committee for the hospitality that was extended to me throughout my time spent at this show.

I was delighted by the size of my entry - and more particularly the quality of depth throughout the classes. I can say that it was a most enjoyable days judging. I was also delighted with the sportsmanship amongst all exhibitors and for accepting all my winners, which made for a very happy atmosphere.

In particular I would like to thank my stewards who kept the ring running so smoothly all day.

Lastly my biggest thank you is to all the exhibitors for their entry and allowing me the honour and privilege of judging their dogs.

JUNIOR DOG (1)

1ST Nicholls, Miss J, Mr G & Mrs M, Bonapartist Trooper of Stonesview: A super quality male of just 5 days over 12 months of age at the point of Judging him. Presented a very clean and balanced outlined when standing and once settled. His quality is such that if he had settled when moving and when standing for hands-on assessment I would have considered him for higher honours in my final line-up. Head of correct proportions with intelligent expression, dentition correct, clean and complete, moderate stop, tapered muzzle without appearance of being snipey. Ears set high, good reach of neck, very good forehand assembly, chest deep of good width, back short with strong loin, topline held on the move, again, once settled. I would urge the owners to put work into this male via ringcraft and practice at home as his qualities are such that I would not want to see opportunities during his showing career to be wasted.

NOVICE DOG (2, 1abs)

1ST Scott, Mr I P, Kentwone Eastern Flame: A pleasing male of 18 months of age, still immature and on the day out of coat. Very nice head and eye with correctly placed ears, dentition correct, clean and complete. Good reach of neck into correct forehand assembly, good width and depth of brisket, loin of optimum length, muscled hindquarters, moved soundly and correctly.

POST GRADUATE DOG (2, 1abs)

1ST Cutler, Mrs M J, Rochus Serpentine with Jayricnbrits: I really did like this young male of week over 2 years of age. Extremely well balanced and correct breed outline. Excellent head of correct proportions, with high set ears and tapered muzzle. Dentition correct, clean and complete. Excellent bone all through. Strong neck, excellent depth and width of brisket, well ribbed for age, muscled hindquarters with moderate turn of stifle. Moved and handled very well. Reserve Best Dog.

LIMIT DOG (4, 2abs)

1ST Taylor & Gill, Mr K & Mrs C, Rennes De Pasmazgeng: Impressive male of 27 months of age who ‘edged’ his way ahead of the second placed exhibit in this class because amongst other things he was and looked more mature. Well shaped, correct head with strong muzzle, correct, clean and complete dentition and high earset. Deep chest of good width and well-rounded ribcage. Excellent forehand assembly. Muscular loin, Strong in hindquarters with moderate turn of stifle. Excellent bone and feet. Moved briskly, accurately and soundly. My pleasure to award him Best Dog and Best In Show.

2ND Cutler, Mrs M J, Bonapartist Soldier Blue with Jayricnbrits: A high quality male with an extremely bright show career ahead of him. Super breed outline, excels in head and expression. Correct, clean and complete dentition. Super clean neck into quality forehand assembly, brisket of good width and depth, well ribbed for age but not as well, developed as the winner. Moderate and muscled hindquarters. Neat feet. Moved well but not as at one with his handler as I would have liked.

OPEN DOG (5, 2abs)

1ST Poole, Mr M & Mrs L, Sanbosier Naos At Maurremar: Well balanced male of 5½ years of age. Of pleasing overall type, not quite the head assembly ratio and proportions that I was looking for, well placed ears, correct, clean and complete dentition, strong neck into good forehand assembly, well ribbed, loin of optimum length for me, moderate hindquarters, moved soundly and correctly.

2ND Cook, Miss F, SH CH Highclare Only One Avec Tailliside (Ai) JW: I actually preferred this male of 5 years of age to my eventual class winner but had to place the exhibits as they were because I did not like the pinning coming into me with this dog – I except that due to their forehand construction a limited amount of pinning can be present. I did also wonder if this exhibit was held slightly higher on the lead which may have lead to this. He presented a very typical and pleasing outline, excellent breed typical head and expression, correct, clean and complete dentition. Strong neck into good forehand assembly, well ribbed, short loin and moderate but muscular hindquarters.

3RD Wright, Mr S, Hawkwise Land Agent

SPECIAL WORKING DOG (2)

1ST Finch, Ms S, Jassendue Manet’s Medley Am Cetgueli: Presented and shown to a high standard – thank you. At nearly 7 years of age, he does not bely his years, a credit to his owner. For me, his head proportions are not quite what I was looking for but his eye and earset were very good and he presented with correct, clean and complete dentition. Good forehand assembly, well ribbed, good hindquarters, moved soundly and correctly.

2ND Anderson, Mr J & Mrs B A, FTP CH Rochus Marvin:Another male of nearly 7 years of age. Very good head, correct, clean and complete dentition. Strong neck into good forehand assembly, very good width and depth of brisket, extremely well ribbed into ultra short muscular loin, muscled hindquarters, typical and sound brisk movement.

PUPPY BITCH (1)

1ST Anderson, Mr J & Mrs B A, Rochus Tina: A very nice bitch of just 8 months of age. Presented an extremely good outline when stacked. Excellent head of correct proportions and soft expression, well placed ears, correct, clean and complete dentition. Clean neck into good forehand assembly with good length of leg, well ribbed for age, moderate, well made hindquarters. Moved on a brisk stride. Best Puppy In Show

JUNIOR BITCH (2)

1ST Yarrow, Mr P A & Mrs J A, Bonapartist Truffle: Outstanding bitch of just over 12 months of age. Well presented and shown. Head of correct 3/2 proportions with intelligent and soft expression, dentition correct, clean and complete, moderate stop, tapered muzzle without appearance of being snipey. Ears set high; excels in forehand assembly, chest deep of good width, ribs well sprung for age, back short with strong loin, moderate and muscled hindquarters. Topline held on the move. This bitch was in the running and seriously considered for higher honours but her tender age just held her back

2ND Poole, Mr M & Mrs L, Bonapartist Temptress At Laurremar: I notice from my catalogue that this lovely bitch is a full litter sister to my class winner. Many of the same virtues apply with this bitch to that of her litter sister – she just appeared a little more raw than my class winner and less confident in what she was doing. She will, I have no doubt do extremely well.

NOVICE DOG (2, 1abs)

1ST Holt, Miss R, Rochus Starburst: A bitch of just 2 years of age. A very pretty bitch with a pleasing head and expression. Dentition correct, clean and complete. Clean neck into good shoulder placement and good length of leg, brisket deep and of good width, her loin was too long for me, well muscled hindquarters. Moved soundly.

LIMIT BITCH (3, 1abs)

1ST Slack, Mrs S & Miss M, Bonapartist Snow Goose: What a truly outstanding bitch – a Champion of the not too distant future I have no doubt. Exceptionally well presented and shown to the very highest standard. This bitch/handler combination were completely at one with each other with mutual admiration shared between them. Extremely well balanced. Correct head dimensions, expressive eyes giving soft expression, correct, clean and complete dentition. Moderate and clean length of neck leading into excellent forehand assembly. Chest deep and of good width, good rib and short loin. Well made hindquarters with correct, moderate turn of stifle. Good bone and feet. Moved on brisk stride. My pleasure to award her Reserve Best Bitch, I was literally splitting hairs between this exhibit and my eventual best bitch who was fractionally more developed in both body and rib.

2ND Finch, Ms S, Patouche Peiam Am Cetgueli: A very pleasing bitch of good type and approaching 4 years of age. Good head proportions, dentition, correct, clean and complete, clean neck into well made forehand assembly, not as deep in brisket as my first placed exhibit, well ribbed, loin of optimum length, well muscled hindquarters, moved soundly and briskly.

OPEN BITCH (5)

1ST Yarrow, Mr P A & Mrs J A, SH CH Bonapartist Odile: Outstanding bitch worthy of her title. Fits the breed standard for me in all areas, excellent in profile showing a clean outline. Correctly proportioned head with well placed ears, dentition, correct, clean and complete, clean neck, excellent depth and width to brisket, excels in in forehand assembly, well ribbed, muscular loin and moderate hindquarters. Excellent bone all through. Moved typically to the breed standard description. Presented and shown expertly. Best Bitch and Reserve Best In Show.

2ND Cocking & Barnaby, Miss J L & Mr P R, SH CH Bonapartist Odette At Ruskinite: Another very worthy title holder, again presented and shown very well. Very good square outline, head well proportioned with high set ears. Correct, clean and complete dentition. Very good forehand assembly and excellent length of leg. Well ribbed, hindquarters muscular and moderate. Moved soundly.

3RD Southorn, Mrs K, Rochus Perrine

VETERAN BITCH (4, 2abs)

1ST Southorn, Mrs K, SH CH Rochus Juliet: What a lovely bitch of approaching 9 years of age – an absolute credit to her owner. Of excellent breed type. 2ND Yarrow, Mr P A & Mrs J A, SH CH Bonapartist Linnet: Another quality exhibit from this kennel. In her 8TH year and looking very good with complete furnishings. Good head, correct, clean and complete dentition, clean neck. Another with excellent forehand assembly, deep brisket of good width, muscular hindquarters. Moved soundly and briskly.
