A huge thank you to the very welcoming committee, the two lovely stewards and all the exhibitors who brought their beautiful dogs. Especially in bitches the quality was outstanding with a number of very close decisions - a nice problem to have for sure!

RETRIEVER (GOLDEN)

MINOR PUPPY DOG (5 Entries, 0 Absent)

1st Monteverde Mr G OLVINGLAY GAN AMHRAS (ATC ITA)

A promising pale boy with a masculine head. He’s well proportioned with good length of leg, ample bone, good depth of chest and presents a pleasing, balanced outline. He moved very well for his age, straight fore and aft, and in profile he kept his dead level topline at all times as he strode out with plenty of reach and drive. Shown to advantage, I was delighted to award him BPIB and later hear he went RBIS puppy. BPIB, RBIS puppy

‍‍‍2nd Angell Ms BA LINIRGOR SEVEN UP AT MILLANZA

Another top quality puppy shown in a beautiful, profuse cream coat. He has a lovely head and expression, he’s well angulated with good bone & feet, good depth of chest and spring of rib. He moved very nicely for his age and was expertly shown in a superb condition. Very close decision, and he is still developing, but today I preferred length of leg of 1.

JUNIOR DOG (5 Entries, 0 Absent)

A range of types and stages of maturity in this class but all 5 were of good quality and stood out for their movement.

1st Harris Miss A & Ball Mr N WEMCREST OUT OF THIS WORLD ‍‍‍‍‍‍

One that’s caught my eye from the ringside before and was delighted to have the opportunity to judge. Lovely mid-gold boy of good size and excellent type, he presents a very pleasing and balanced outline. Nice head, well angulated fore and aft and with good bone and feet, he moved out just as his construction would suggest - with accurate reach and drive, keeping his firm, level topline at all times. Nicely handled, he was a contender for top honours, but was beaten by two more mature dogs today.

2nd Keightley Mrs GA RICHANA ROCKET MAN ‍‍‍‍‍‍

Lovely pale boy who presents a nice outline. He’s well angulated with good body, depth of chest and spring of rib, good bone and feet. A very good mover, he strode around the ring effortlessly. Shown in lovely condition, but today I preferred the head of 1.

3rd Todd Mrs PT VAN GOGH OF SUNSHINE'S VALLEY WITH TODDROSA (IMP BEL) ‍‍‍‍‍‍

YEARLING DOG (5 Entries, 0 Absent)

1st Todd Mrs PT VAN GOGH OF SUNSHINE'S VALLEY WITH TODDROSA (IMP BEL) ‍‍‍‍‍‍

Lovely pale boy with a masculine head and kind expression. He’s well made, balanced and well proportioned, with good body and bone. A good mover from all sides striding around the ring with accuracy and excellent reach and drive. Not in his best coat today, but he has many good qualities.

2nd Wright Mr JL & Mrs CILM PALTON PLATINO ‍‍‍‍‍‍

One I judged earlier this year and much of the same comments apply. He is of excellent type and size, with superb bone and the most cat-like feet. Not overdone in any way and shown in firm condition. He’s still a youngster and needs some time to mature, but he is an effortless mover, and to me, had one of the best and most typical heads today.

3rd Pratt Miss T ROSYTH KELTIC LORD

GRADUATE DOG (7 Entries, 0 Absent)

1st Wright Mr JL & Mrs CILM PALTON PLATINO ‍‍‍‍

2nd Pratt Miss T ROSYTH KELTIC LORD

Another mid-gold dog of good type. He appealed for his outline and his solid construction. Well proportioned, short-coupled with excellent body and depth of chest, he stood four-square and kept his level topline on the move. Still a youngster, but his excellent movement, proportions and firm, workman-like condition put him ahead of some of the more mature competition today.

3rd Swaine Mr P & Mrs DA OHANAGOLD APOLLO ‍‍‍‍‍‍

POST GRADUATE DOG (4 Entries, 1 Absent)

1st Maynard Mr RC & Mrs LJE CHINNORDALE GRAND FINALE (AI) ‍‍‍‍‍‍

A masculine dog of good type shown in a gleaming mid-gold coat. Well proportioned with excellent front assembly and good length of leg to body ratio, he stood a picture with his tail wagging perfectly throughout. He was handled expertly and shown in superb condition, but today, I preferred the profile movement of my winners.

2nd Pratt Miss T ROSYTH KELTIC LORD

3rd Humphrey Miss B M SEQUOTIA ANYWHERE IS

OPEN DOG (6 Entries, 2 Absent)

1st Wright Mr JL & Mrs CILM PALTON PAVAROTTI ‍‍‍‍‍‍

One I judged earlier this year and was pleased to see again. He’s a balanced deep-gold boy with a beautifully shaped head and kindly expression, masculine yet not coarse or overdone. He has a clean neck, a balanced outline, a firm and level topline and enough angulation fore and aft to allow him to flow around the ring effortlessly. Shown in lovely condition and one of the best movers today, I couldn’t deny him Best Dog. BD, RBOB

2nd Williams Miss KJ BERRYMEADE COEUR BLIMEY AT BUSHEYHALL SGWC WGC ‍‍‍‍‍‍

A lovely mid-gold boy of good size and type. Masculine head, well angulated front and rear, excellent body, bone and tightest of feet. He’s well proportioned presenting a lovely outline, in excellent condition and a happy mover with good reach and drive. RBD

MINOR PUPPY BITCH (3 Entries, 0 Absent)

1st Taylor Miss CA & Tenn Mr MD STRETTONHILL CUSTOM MADE ‍‍‍‍‍‍

A feminine puppy shown in a lovely cream coat. Feminine head, good length of neck flowing into a well made front, good body, bone and cat-like feet. She presented a lovely, balanced picture and moved very nicely for her age.

2nd List Ms L HAYDENGOLD MOMENT IN TIME ‍‍‍‍‍‍

Different type to 1, a nicely proportioned mid-gold puppy with many good points. She is a lovely shape, well bodied with a straight front and rear. She moved very nicely for her age and was expertly shown. It was a close decision, but having to nitpick, I preferred the layback of shoulder of 1 today.

PUPPY BITCH (5 Entries, 3 Absent)

1st Ward Mrs J WILD ROSE TO LAURENLEY OF SUNSHINE'S VALLEY (IMP BEL) ‍‍‍‍‍‍

Lovely quality cream puppy presented in excellent condition. She has a feminine head, she’s balanced with good body, excellent bone, substance and the tightest of feet. A promising youngster who moved well for her age, despite giving her handler a bit of a hard time today. BPB

2nd Russel-Bond Mrs SE ROSINANTE SOLITAIRE

A sweet cream youngster who’s still a baby in many ways. Well angulated front and rear, good body, spring of rib and good bone and feet. Nicely presented and moved well for age.

JUNIOR BITCH (13 Entries, 6 Absent)

A really lovely class where I was very much splitting hairs.

1st Moss Mrs B OUSEVALE ANGEL'S KISS AT CARIANJO ‍‍‍‍‍‍

Impressive mid-gold bitch shown in top condition. She filled my eye with her balanced outline and on closer inspection did not disappoint. A feminine head, excellent reach of neck flowing into well placed shoulders, excellent front assembly, body, substance and bend of stifle. She impressed with her accurate movement from all sides and excellent breed type. Expertly shown, she didn’t put a foot wrong, which won her the top spot in strong competition today. BB, BOB

2nd Clunie Miss K WARRENTOR NOHKALIKAI

Another quality young bitch that caught my eye on entering the ring. She looks a picture standing, lovely balance, well angulated front and rear, superb bone and beautifully tight, cat-like feet. She’s feminine with a lovely head shape, and on the move she flowed around the ring with excellent reach and drive. I liked her a lot, a close decision and she pushed hard for top honours till the very end. I just would’ve liked slightly tighter movement in the front, which is why she narrowly missed out today.

POST GRADUATE BITCH (3 Entries, 1 Absent)

1st Russell-Bond Mrs SE ROSINANTE DEJU VU ‍‍‍‍‍‍

Lovely happy mid-gold bitch whose tail did not stop wagging. Free-stood to advantage, she has a feminine head and she’s well proportioned with good length of leg to body ratio. She needed a bit of time to settle on the move, but when she did she moved well.

2nd Pratt Miss T ROSYTH KIND OF MAGIC ‍‍‍‍‍‍

A sweet mid-gold youngster of lovely type. Lovely head, well proportioned, good body and lovely bone and feet. She moved very nicely and is showing plenty of promise, just not in her best coat today and still needs time to mature.

OPEN BITCH (12 Entries, 3 Absent)

Wow, what a class to end the day on! Superb quality and one where final placings came down to the very smallest of details on the day. The one class where I felt short of cards, and had to really nitpick to choose my top 5.

1st Monteverde Mr G OLVINGLAY MISS DIOR ‍‍‍‍‍‍

Lovely pale bitch who impressed with her clean and balanced outline, excellent proportions and correct size. She’s feminine, well made and well angulated. On the move, she held her firm level topline whilst striding around the ring with good reach and drive. Tidy coming and going, she was expertly handled and shown in superb condition, which gave her that little bit of edge that she needed to win this very strong class today. RBB

2nd Chan Mrs J & Mr R LOVISSA HELLO DOLLY OF WEMCREST ‍‍‍‍‍‍

Lovely gold bitch I’ve judged before and delighted to see again as a mature adult. She’s balanced, well angulated front and rear, with an excellent body and dead-level topline held at all times. She impresses on the move, with excellent reach, drive and accuracy. A close decision.
