NORTHERN COUNTIES CHIHUAHUA CLUB

OPEN SHOW – Sunday, 5 March 2023

Many thanks to the Committee for inviting me to judge the Smoothcoats at this friendly show and for the lovely gift. Thanks to the exhibitors who gave me an entry and the stewards, Nicki and Jenny. Dentition overall was good. Some of the youngsters were not at all happy on the flooring which made some decisions hard. If I have learned anything at this show it is to take longer writing my notes.

Chihuahua (Smoothcoat

VD (0) MPD (1) 1, BPD Holmes & Entwistle’s Cazants The Gaffer Luvs Dorenty. Quality red puppy of 9 months, pleasing head properties with flaring ears, lovely shape and moved round the ring with purpose. PD (2) 1. Humphrey’s Amarantos Theo. Cream of 9 months, good head shape with round dark eyes, nice body, unfortunately did not like the floor at all so unable to assess movement. 2 Entwistle’s Cazants Krampus Dorenty. Another nice cream of 9 months, well bodied and lovely head but he hated the floor even more than first placed! A pity, I am sure both these puppies will excel once they settle. JD (3,1) 1, RBD. Hall’s Jorazan Roody Red Sox. Red sable of 15 months, super head properties with very good dentition, a tad long in body but overall proportions are good giving a pleasing outline, correct tail set, moved round the ring with drive holding a level topline. 2. Fothergill’s Diomanchi Mr Moonstone. 16-month fawn of good overall shape, nice head with kind expression. Was not happy today which showed in his movement round the ring. ND (2) 1. Daly’s Lozmarchi Pure Intention. Cream with lovely head properties, large kind eyes, firm body and good angulation but another dog not happy with the floor but moved well enough to take the class. 2. Dorenty’s Cazants Krampus Dorenty. As PD. GD Hall’s Jorazan Quincy Quirky Sox JW. Litter brother to JD winner. Lovely head and super pigment, nice firm body, well angulated, moved holding a level topline. 2. Daly’s Lozmarchi Sweetest Taboo. Another nice dog from this kennel, pleasing head properties, good tail set, moved with drive. PGD (3) Jones Tinasjoy Pretty Damn Good by Pepeetolynn. Fawn sable of nice size, good dark eyes giving a pleasing expression, firm body, moved well holding a level topline. 2. Smith’s Lemaritz Mastermind at Nayelichi. Pleasing fawn sable with large expressive eyes, firm level body, moved well with good turn of stifle 3. Daly’s Lozmarchi Class Act LD (3) 1. Hall’s Jorazan Top Gun Flyer JW. Good honest dog from this kennel, lovely head, good length of neck, moved soundly with drive. Considered for RBD but lost his sparkle in the challenge. 2. Stading’s Stadmeyer Dashing Dexter JW. Good type of nice size with lovely expressive eyes, moved well holding a level topline. 3. Smith’s Moltobello Pride And Joy Of Hulawawas OD (2) Close decision here. 1 & BD. Hunt’s Diamonchi Button Moon for Moltobello. Moved round showing a nice shape, level topline, good turn of stifle and correct tail set. 2. Daly’s Anadeia Hearts and Flowers for Lozmarchi. 7 months old white, pleasing eyes and ears, well bodied and moved well when settled. PB (2) 1, BPB, BOB & BPIB Rooney’s Yorone We’ve Got the Moves. People who know me well are aware I am not a big fan of babies taking top honours for all sorts of reasons however, this beautiful gold and white of 10 months old took my heart as soon as she entered the ring looking like she owned it. Lovely head properties with big dark eyes and good ear set. Nice compact body with correct tail set and strides out with the confidence and drive of an older bitch. Delighted that she went on to take BIS & BPIS. 2. Entwistle’s Cazants The Geisha Luvs Dorenty. As MPB. JB (2) Another close decision. 1. Fairbairn’s Tidos Critical Mission.
