Golden Retrievers

Judge – Miss L A Harper (Glynerva)

My sincere thanks to the committee for inviting me to judge at their Premier Open Show and for their generous hospitality. Thanks also to my two rings stewards who did an excellent job. I was delighted with the quality of my entry and thank the exhibitors for bringing their dogs under me.

Puppy (8/2)

What a fabulous class of puppies all enjoying their day and they all deserved places but I had to make the decision on my final 4 but on a different day they could easily all swap places

1. Taylor & Tenn’s, Strettonhill Custom Made – She just grabbed my attention for her overall balance and I certainly wasn’t disappointed when she moved. Still a lot of growing to do but on the day she was the perfect picture. Sweetest of heads, good length of neck flowing onto lovely layback of shoulder. Level topline and tail set, short coupled, good turn of stifle, neat hocks and tight cat like feet. BP

2. Magson’s, Castlegolden Classy Girl – Another one with similar attributes and so unlucky to meet 1 today. Lovely head and expression, good depth of chest and good spring of ribs. Moved well

3. Price’s, Thornywait Bobbysocks

Junior (3/1)

1. Liggins & Hodges, Swanavly Popsy’s Legacy at Nunsbrook – Shown in lovely full cream wavy coat. Good reach of neck and front angulation, deep chest, still has some maturing to do. Moved well.

2. Stokes’s, Flyngalee Only Oakley at Jobeka – feminine young lady with a very pretty head and lots of potential she just needs to mature into her frame.

Graduate (9/2)

1. Millington’s, Golmas Guard of Honour at Jarabees JW – Well this boy caught my eye as he came into the ring. Shown in full gleaming golden coat he stood four square on the neatest of feet and hocks. Masculine head with lovely dark pigment, good reach of neck, beautifully balanced front and matching rear angulation, deep through his chest and shown in hard condition. Delighted to award him BOB

2. Liggins& Hodges, Silver Passion Glam Fashion at Nunsbrook JW – Smaller made dog than 1 but liked his compact, nicely angled balanced frame and his cheeky character.

3. Swaine’s, Kallixel Caramel Delight

Post Graduate (6/2)

1. Husbands, Chisleay Chase the Dream – I really liked this 4 year old girl shown in full coat she has lovely bone and is well muscled. Pretty head, good reach of neck, good front angulation, level topline, good tail set, good width of thigh and moved with reach and drive. Would have just liked a bit more depth of body.

2. Griggs, Mulfield Mango Marmalade – Very pretty 3 year old girl not quite in her best coat today, Nice reach of neck level topline, short coupled and good turn of stifle with well let down hocks. Moved well

3. Liggins & Hodges, Swanavly Popsy’s Legacy at Nunsbrook

Open Dog (5/0)

1. Millington’s, Carneval of Golden Duck-Cobey at Jarabees VW (IMP SRB) – Larger framed 8 year old boy shown in beautiful pale wavy coat. He won this class with his excellent front and rear angulate and clean movement. He does not show is age at all.

2. Swaine’s Ohanagold Apollo – This boy had the most handsome of heads, shown in full golden coat and lovely body condition. The neatest of feet and moved straight forward and back. So attentive to his handler.

3. Liggins & Hodges, Swanavly Popsy’s Legacy at Nunsbrook

Open Bitch (4/3)

1. Nelson’s Cadwst Eternal Flame – Lots to like about this girl lovely head, good reach of neck flowing onto well laid back shoulders and a level topline. Well spring ribs and well muscled. Would have benefited from a larger ring to fully show off her movement. Not wearing her best coat today which kept her from top honours, RBOB
