Golden Retrievers

Miss L A Harper (Glynerva)

I would like to thank the committee for their invitation to judge Golden Retrievers, for their generous hospitality and my very efficient stewards Rhian and Eilidh for keeping the ring running so smoothly. I was delighted with both the size and quality of my entry, it was a pleasure to go over all the dogs and decisions were very close in all classes, thank you for accepting my decisions so sportingly.

Puppy 7/2/5

Lovely class of puppies having fun in the ring and all full of confidence, a credit to their owners and breeders. Some were a little unsettled on the move, but I am sure they will all change places as they grow and mature.

1st Walkers Cardrona Cest Auld Alliance – 7 month old B with lovely wavey coat, she gave her handler a bit of a hard time today but once settled she was very sound on the move. Pretty head with dark pigment, lovely front angulation and nice deep chest for her age. Dead level topline and correct tailset. Short coupled, good turn of stifle, well muscled for her age and lovely neat hocks. Lovely bone but wouldn’t want any more weight on her.

2nd Highams Lamancha Splendid Frolic – 11 month pale cream girl, very sweet head and pleasing outline. Good reach of neck and level topline, lovely turn of stifle, well let down hocks and lovely neat feet. Moved very well. Not quite in full coat today.

3rd Gradys Kadaka Katie Karrot at Glenrioch , 4th McNeishs Ambersun Drops of Jupiter

Junior 7/2/5

1st Ellis Tenfield Sparkling Sunrise – My star of the day, 14 months old B in lovely golden coat, nothing exaggerated, lovely balanced outline and didn’t disappoint on the move. Very pretty head with soft melting expression. Good reach of neck leading to well laid back shoulders with matching upper arm. Good spring of ribs, short coupled, lovely turn of stifle and straight hocks. She glided round the ring with her tail held level. Pleased to award her BOB and delighted to see her shortlisted in a strong gundog group.

2nd Kings Cleddans Dreaming of Summer – 15 month pale gold dog. Unfortunate to meet 1 today. He has a lovely gentle expression and very willing to please his handler. A lovely shape, nicely balanced front and back with no exaggeration. Moved very well

3rd Carltons Fhairmhor Moonlight Sonata, 4th Fergusons Shelbreagha Macallan
