Puppy (3)

1.Bate-Ash & Ash’s Sinsircariad Old Fashioned.7month dog who was the most together and balanced in the class, moving with lovely reach and drive. Good neck and shoulders, short level back and well sprung ribs. Masculine head with moderate stop, nice eyes and high set ears. In good coat. BP.

2.Kotsias & Soszynska’s Sinsircariad Silver Fizz. Litter sister to 1 and not quite as forward as her brother yet. Moved well once settled with good drive from her well angulated rear. Soundly made with good chest and ribbing for age. Nicely shaped head with nice eyes and expression.

3.Sewell’s Littleclose From Me To You at Breakerswell.

Junior (5,1)

1.Smyth & Edwards’ Camusmor Mak Siccar. Best mover in the class, very nice action in profile, accurate out and back and holding his outline well. Powerfully built and in lovely condition with strong neck, good angulation and firm topline. Handsome head with alert expression, well tapered muzzle and strong jaw. RBOB.

2.Roffey’s Camusmor Ca Canny with Acanuck. Not as mature as 1 and needs to firm in front but has a nice head and expression, good topline, strong bone and good coat. Moved happily.

3, S. Silver Fizz (see P)

Open (2)

1.Bate-Ash's Eusanit Hit The Lights.3 yr dog, sire of bp. Mature and in super coat presenting typical outline, short level back, decent shoulders, strong rear and good feet. Correctly shaped head with nice eyes, well set and used ears, tapered muzzle and well finished lips. Moved with a typical, springy action, covering the ground with ease. Lovely temperament. BOB

2.Morse’s Eusanit Celtic Sea at Sinsircariad. Mother of the BP so not in her best condition I’m sure! A little longer than 1 with decent shoulders, moving soundly but couldn’t match the action of 1. Feminine head with nice eyes and expression.

Leonberger

Junior (4)

1.Lear-Schofield & Schofield’s Alfross Tulabo Montgomery. 17month dog of lovely type, masculine with good substance and bone, good front, firm topline and well constructed rear. Masculine head with nice eyes and tight rims, good mouth and strong jaw. Was the best out and back in the class and looked lovely moving in profile. RBOB

2.Derbyshire’s Lord of My Heart Grand Aiveko. 14month dog with strong neck, ok shoulders, good bone, topline needs to firm, moderate rear angulation and strong hocks. Still needs to develop in body but is only young. Pleasing head and expression. Moved soundly.

3.Heginbotham’s Sulandi Fallen Angel (IKC) 11month bitch of a nice type who obviously has a lot of maturing to do and looked every bit the baby in this junior class against much older males. Soundly made with a nice outline, just needs to firm in topline. Feminine head of good proportions. Moved soundly and presented in lovely condition. BP

Post Grad (2)

1.Heginbotham’s Hera Nasza Duma (imp Pol) 4yr bitch not in her best coat. Nice size and substance with good bone and feet, deep chest, could have a touch more upperarm. Feminine head with correct length of muzzle and kind expression. Moved freely, a little close away.

2.Davies’ Alfross Kapuko Aelius. Very masculine dog, powerful but lacking elegance. Strong head with good muzzle and jaw, medium stop and well set ears. Moved ok.

Open (1)

1.Lear-Schofield & Schofield’s Alfross Romabo Harper. Quality 2yr male, large and powerful with well balanced outline, strong neck into good shoulders, firm topline, good chest and ribbing, strong loin, good croup and strong rear. Handsome masculine head with nice eyes, well proportioned muzzle, strong jaw, correctly set ears and such a lovely expression. Moving with an accurate, easy gait with good reach and drive, maintaining his impressive outline. BOB.

Portuguese Water Dog

Junior (1)

1.Smith’s Belleville Snooze You Lose. 6month bl wavy of a nice size and shape. Decent shoulders, firm topline, good spring of rib, strong loin and moderately angulated rear. Feminine head with correct length of muzzle, strong jaw, defined stop and nice eyes with alert expression. Moved happily holding her outline firm, just needs to firm in front as she matures. BP, Pup Group 2.

Post Grad (1)

1.Mardle & Barton’s Auldhelm Charmed One. 19month br/wavy who was bp last time I judged the breed and was nice to see how he’s matured. Smaller and squarely built with good chest and ribbing, firm topline and well set and carried tail. Nice head and expression with defined stop and good furrow, strong jaw, good mouth and correctly set ears. Moved freely, a little close going away, super presentation and condition. BOB.

Open (3)

1.Smith’s Oakholme Imperial Wizard. Almost 5yr bl/wavy handled and presented to an advantage. Presents a nice outline with short neck, good topline, moderate rear angulation and well set and carried tail. Masculine head with dense pigment, good muzzle and open nostrils. Moved well in the class but had a change of handler in the challenge and wasn’t as settled. RBOB

2.Graham’s Ricci Jose of Joseiki. Rather liked this b/w boy but unfortunately he was not making the most of himself! Squarly built and robust, maybe just a touch too short in neck for balance but has lovely shoulders, chest and ribbing, good topline and moderately angulated rear. Large masculine head with super expression, correct length of muzzle, defined stop and dark eyes. In well muscled condition, moving happily.

3.Mardle & Barton’s Auldhelm Candy Floss.

Open (1)

1. Marina’s Marinbox Murder In Three Acts. Mature 5yr dog in glossy coat and well muscled condition. Well balanced outline with good topline and tailset, strong neck, good chest and ribbing, strong loin and well constructed rear. Moved with a powerful action holding his outline firm. Masculine head with powerful muzzle, dark eyes and well set and used ears.

Handling.

I did try to speak to all handlers placed on the day to give them an idea of what they could improve on and why they got their placings, I hope that was more helpful than waiting for the written critique when you’ve totally forgotten what happened on the day!

6 – 11yrs (11.5)

1.Daisy Bray. Handled her dog in a calm, unobtrusive manner. Showed teeth well and completed the patterns neatly with good lines and corners.

2.Myla Mae Hanes. A good performance overall with shapes completed correctly and at the right speed for the dog, just standing a little close when presenting after the patterns. Showed teeth well just needs to remember not to drop the lead, instead tuck it neatly into one hand.

2.Abigail Twigg.

12 – 16yrs (8,3)

1.Francesca Wilson. A good display of handling skills, dressed smartly to complement her dog, completed the patterns I asked for correctly just needs to neaten her corners. Teeth were shown well enough and she had her dog stood correctly and shadowed well.

2.Hannah Whittingham. Again a handler who obviously knows her stuff, just needs to make sure her lines are nice and straight when completing the patterns and be sure not to stand and present the dog too close to the judge after moving. Teeth were shown well and she moved her dog at the correct speed.

3.Miss G Moore

17 – 30yrs (3,1)

Both handlers here did a reasonable job of presenting their dogs but need to practice some of the finer points of handling. Danielle had the edge here showing the teeth better and moving her dog at a good pace. Both need to practice their patterns, lines and corners and presenting their dogs quickly and neatly after moving.

1.Danielle Beddall.

2.Imogen Scotford-Jackson

31 – 45 yrs (10,6)

1.Helen Taylor-Morris. Superb handler who is hard to fault, showing teeth neatly, completing patterns correctly with good lines and corners. Has such a lovely rapport with her dog and makes her whole performance a pleasure to watch.

2.Andrea Keepence-Keyte. Another great handler who did everything I asked of her in a smart, unexaggerated manner. Completed table work correctly and handled her dog sympathetically always keeping its attention.

3.Justin Graham-Weall

46 – 59 yrs (6)

1.Christy Straughan. A very smart, no fuss handler who completed all I asked of her correctly, moving at the correct pace for her dog, not feeling the need to hurry to keep up with the bigger breeds. Patterns were completed with straight lines and good corners and her dog was always stood correctly.

2.Louise Salmon. A good handler who just needs to neaten up the table work, showing the teeth clearly and making sure to check the dog is stood correctly with all 4 feet placed correctly after the judge has been over them. Moved her dog at the correct speed and completed the patterns I asked for.

3.Julie Rivers

60+ yrs (4,2) Another close decision here, both doing some things well and then making a few mistakes which made them hard to separate! Lynn did such a good job of showing a naughtier dog, remaining calm and doing well to show it off to the best advantage. Petula had the better behaved dog but just needed to check it was stood foot perfect both on the table and floor.

1.Lynn Hodson.

2.Petula Humphrey.
