My thanks to the officers and committee for inviting me to judge whippets at their very well-run open show. The weather was kind, with a lovely sunny day and I had a super large ring that allowed me to see that long flowing stride I was looking for when assessing movement in profile. As always, thank you to my steward David Barton-Smith who was very efficient and above all thank you to all exhibitors for bringing their dogs for my evaluation.

Puppy (4,1)

This was a class of puppies at different stages of maturity. Being the first class in at the beginning of the day some puppies were affected by the grass clippings that were on the surface.

1ST Head, Mrs M, Demerlay Ebony Eyes 11-month-old brindle bitch, She has a good head with oval eye and rose shape ears. Slightly arched neck and front assembly developed enough for age, slight rise over loin, stifles well bent, and hocks well let down. Moved well from all angles, I particularly like her in profile. BPIB, delighted to see her go puppy Group 2.

2nd Higgingbottom, Miss E, Ranveli Royal Duke Of Dawnsafon, 8-month-old fawn dog who didn’t lend himself to his handler, He has a lovely alert expression, oval eye and rose shape ears and scissor bite, good neck into shoulder. Enough depth of brisket for age, good sweep of stifle, Moved ok, just needs to settle.
