West Bromwich and Wednesbury Canine Society 2023 -Pointer

My thanks to the officers and committee for inviting me to judge pointers at their very well-run show. As always, thank you to my 2 stewards Steph and Bruce who were very efficient and above all thank you to all exhibitors for bringing their dogs for my evaluation. Sadly, the small ring affected how some dogs moved.

1st Mathews & Adams, Mrs A & Mrs L, Carofel Wings Of Hope Jw WW23 SWISS JR CH.

Orange and white dog who appealed greatly for breed type. Classical head with all the detail and work in with slight dish appearance, correct scissor bite, well defined stop and pronounced occipital, thin leathers set high. Long muscular neck leading into well laid shoulder, pasterns strong, good depth of brisket, well sprung ribs which were carried well back. Strong muscular and slightly arched loin, well turned stifles and hocks well let down. Moved soundly from all angles covering the ground and lashing his tail. Pleased to award him BOB and see him take gundog group 4

1st Collins, MR D T & J A, Collholme Angelique.

Orange and white bitch of lovely type, she has a lovely head with good amount of work, slight dish appearance. fine leathers, well arched neck leading into well laid shoulders, good depth of body and firm top line, well developed hindquarters and hocks well let down. Moved soundly and true from all angles to win the class.

2nd. Stilgoe, Mr and Mrs P and D Glenariff Mojito over Teisgol

Black and White dog who wasn’t as cooperative with his handler as he could have been. Good headed dog with enough work, giving a slight dish appearance, well defined stop and thin leathers, His neck was muscular and well archer, shoulders well laid I would prefer him to have slightly more spring to his pastern, good depth of body, firm topline and well angulated rear, hocks well let down. moved well.

Orange and White bitch, she has a classical head with chiselling, slight dish appearance, well defined stop and thin leathers. Well laid shoulders, super depth of body and ribs carried well back, Strong muscular and slightly arched loin, well-turned stifles and hocks well let down. Moved soundly from all angles. RBOB

2nd Collins, Mr D T and Mrs J A, Collholme Balthasar

Orange and White dog that appealed greatly for type, sadly he was a little tense which effected the overall picture. He has a lovely head with ample work, slight dish appearance, well defined stop. Fine leathers, neck muscular and well arched, well laid shoulders, good depth of body, firm topline and well angulated hindquarters. Moved soundly.
