Boston & District Canine Society Open Show Tuesday 30th May 2023 

Many thanks to the committee for the kind invitation to judge the show and to the exhibitors for the pleasure of their dogs. 

 Irish Setter 

 Puppy (3, 2abs): 1st – Shepherd’s CASACHARED CONNORS DELANEY – 10mth old male of nice breed type. Masculine head with a kind dark eye. Clean neck. Well made front assembly. Body well developed for his age. Lovely let down quarters. Firm in topline. Presented in lovely coat & condition. Moving out soundly fore & aft. BP 

 Junior (4,3): 1st – Levene & Lewis QUENSHA REMEMBER THE NAME – 18mth old dog with super head full of masculinity. Correct eye shape and colour providing a kind expression. Clean neck and shoulders with correct placement. Straight forelegs. Good feet. Body well developed with good spring of ribs. Well-muscled quarters. Correct topline and tail set. Moving soundly with a free action. Presented well in good coat. 

 Post-Graduate (2,2): 

 Open (2): 1st – Jarvis’s LOWDOWN TO DARN HOT – 4yrd old male with good lean head & oval skull, with correct square muzzle, lovely dark eye with a kind expression. Lovely reach of neck and well-placed shoulder. Good spring of ribs carried well back. Level topline and correct tailset. Good rear angulation with good muscle tone, well let down quarters. Moving freely with good rear drive. Turned out in super coat. BOB 2nd Shepherd’s CASACHARED DANCING QUEEN – 4yr old bitch pretty head and sweet expression. Would prefer more forechest. Good spring of ribs and level topline. Nicely proportioned rear angulation. Presented in nice coat. Moving ok. 

 Spanish Water Dog

 Puppy (2,1): 1st – Capille’s– ZORRAZO EVERYBODY GONNA TALK my notes say ‘Super Puppy’ 6mth old dog who has the most wonderful movement, so showy look at me ring presence. Masculine headpiece correct planes and flat skull, correct oval shaped eyes of correct colour providing an alert & expressive expression. Strong neck into correct shoulder placement. Good straight forelegs. Good depth of chest beginning to develop well for his age with correct brisket. Good rear angulation with good muscle tone. In great coat and moving with such drive from behind. BP. One who I will watch with great interest. 

 Junior (1): 1st Capille’s ZORRAZO KIND REGARDS AT LENDEVER – 13mth old dog with good head of correct planes. Correct eye shape and colour providing soft expression. Correct ear set. Short muscular neck and well-placed shoulder and good return of upper arm. Straight forelimbs of correct bone and round feet. Good depth of chest. Level in back. Good rear angulation and well-muscled. Correct coat. He did present sound movement driving from behind once he settled down. 

 Post-Graduate(1,1): 

 Open(2): 1st Hodgkinson-Rutherford & Rutherford’s SH CH/HR CH ZORRAZO HEY THERE YOGI BEAR – a well known dog and one I was glad to get to judge. He is very deserving of his wins. 4yr old dog of rustic appearance when stacked presented in correct coat. Under his coat he is of super construction. Masculine head of correct flat skull and head planes, good eye shape and colour harmonising with his coat providing that expressive look. Correctly placed V shaped ears just above the eye. Strong muscular neck into the best of fronts. Lovely bone and neat round feet. Super depth of brisket and tight-fitting elbows. Moderately angled quarters and great second thigh with good muscle tone throughout allowing him to move with good power from behind with the required brisk movement. BOB 

 2nd – Capille’s CHANDERHILL END OF AN ERA AT LENDEVER – young 15mth old bitch who was unfortunate to come up against the winner in this class. Pretty head of correct planes, short strong neck into well laid shoulder. Straight forelegs. Good bone and neat round feet. Body developing well for her age. Level back. Correct moderate rear angulation. Excellent muscle tone. Shown in correct coat. Moving soundly with super drive.
