Royal Cheshire County Dog Show

20th June 2023

Thank you to the committee for the invitation and to my three able stewards. It was a shame that after the dry warm spell the weather broke with heavy rain all morning.

Irish Water Spaniel, thank you for the entry, just one absentee.

Puppy 1. 1st Davey’s Santarocco Derry, 7-month-old bitch, developing along the right lines, good length of muzzle, square. Long neck, chest still developing, large feet. Moved out well and steadily, curls developing well on back. Best Puppy in Breed.

Junior 4 (1). A class of different types 1st Williamson’s Secret Surprise, 13 months bitch the most settled in the class, Balanced in head with good dome and hazel eye. Good depth to ribs for age, rolling motion on the move, adult coat still developing, would like more strength in pasterns. 2nd Davey’s Santarocco Derry, 3rd McCafferty’s Malanis Beatrice at Coleraine.

Post Graduate 1. 1st Weaving’s Stanegate Cast a Spell, 2-year-old bitch feminine in head with small hazel almond eyes. A little aloof/tense initially whilst going over her but characteristic of the breed, balanced in outline super length of neck, good rear angulation, moved with drive, good tight curls on body, large round feet.

Open 3. 1st Bannister’s Ta An Neifinn At Banysun, 2 year old bitch, lovely balanced compact young lady, very pretty feminine head with good width and length of muzzle with a super top knot of curls, would prefer a darker eye. Nice arch to neck with good barrel ribs, muscular loin, good front and rear angulation, moved stylishly with drive and roll. Correct coat. Best of Breed and delighted to see her awarded Gundog Group 2 in good company, congratulations. 2nd Roberts Tsar of Dee, 5 years old strongly built male. Masculine in head, long square muzzle, super barrel ribs and very well-muscled throughout, truly fit for purpose, powerful mover, holds firm topline on the move, correct curl to coat with ringlets on his ears. Feet large and spreading. Reserve Best of Breed. 3rd Weaving’s Kandalin Golden Storm.

Welsh Springer Spaniel, unfortunately lots of absentees.

Puppy 1 Absent

Junior 2 (1) 1st & Best of Breed, Hollands Ferndel Starshine Over Flatcharm, typey,13-month-old bitch, balanced and compact in outline, feminine with dark eye, good reach of neck, lay of shoulder and upper arm. Good depth of rib. Moved out happily with reach and drive holding topline on the move, shown in good coat and condition, well muscled throughout, still some maturing to complete the picture.

Post Graduate 2(1) 1st Brook’s Eiriandylis Georgia Moon, 2 year old male with good square muzzle and wide nostrils, kind dark eyes with the most melting expression, well chiselled , super length of neck correct front angulation, good depth to ribs , short in loin, moved with drive , lovely happy disposition, another in lovely condition. Needs time to mature.

1st Tolladay’s Sh Ch Ferndel High Society to Bethersden, 8-and-a-half-year-old bitch in good muscular condition. Feminine, good forechest and depth of rib, elbows well tucked in, good lay of shoulder and upper arm super front and rear angulation. Moved out well with drive and style, so sound on the move. Reserve Best of Breed. 2nd Tolladay’s Bethersden Brigadier, 3 and a half year old male, masculine in head, good neck, shoulder and upper arm, deep ribs, good rear angulation and width to quarters, super rear movement when viewed from behind.
