Thank you to the committee of Tay Valley Gundog Association for the invitation to judge Golden and Labrador Retrievers. I had a lovely entry in both breeds, thank you to all of the exhibitors for your entry and taking my decisions with such grace.

Labrador Retrievers

Puppy (2,0)

1st Mr & Mrs F S & H R Gilroy CLAYCHALK COSTA MONETA

Lovely 8 month old black bitch, a beautiful head, dark eye and pigment. Strong neck into well placed shoulders. Good front assembly, straight front legs, beautiful tight feet and bone. Good top line, good spring of rib, balanced rear angulation. Correct tail, well set on. Strode out well. Best Puppy in Breed.

2nd Rachael Thomson & Brodie Main STRATHHUNKER FIRE GEM

Upstanding yellow puppy, broad head, strong neck, well placed shoulders, enough angulation front and rear. Wide in front and would prefer tighter feet. Good topline carried well on the move.

1st Nadine Ireland BAROLD’S BLACK CORAL

A very pleasing young black bitch who caught my eye. A beautiful clean head with melting eyes. Good length of neck into well laid shoulders, prominent forechest, excellent front angulation matched at the rear. Solid topline, well sprung ribs, short coupled, correct tail, well set. Well muscled, in excellent coat and condition. Owned the ring as she moved. Best of Breed.

2nd Mr & Mrs F S & H R Gilroy CLAYCHALK COSTA TAKA

Another lovely bitch with a pleasing head and expression. Good neck, good forechest but would prefer more upper arm. Good bone and substance, super feet. Deep chest, well sprung ribs, short coupled. Well muscled allowing her to move with drive.

Very close between first and second, just preferred the overall balance and topline on one.

Nice black bitch of good size and overall balance. Super topline, good angulation front and rear. Deep chest, little long in loin. Standing on good feet, moved well once settled.

2nd Coleen Thomson STRATHHUNKER YIBMBE

Strong black bitch of good size. Good head with broad skull, nice pigment. Would prefer slightly more neck and better lay of shoulder. Good topline, deep through chest, short coupled, well muscled in excellent coat and condition.

Really liked this bitch for her overall shape and balance.

Lovely head and expression, strong neck into well placed shoulders, lovely front assembly and forechest. Solid topline and correct tail. Deep through chest, well angled in rear, covered the ground well on the move.

2nd Mr W R Hardy GIGHTY BURN ECHO

Feminine yellow bitch, would prefer a broader skull. Good bone, straight legs, nice feet. Strong topline, well muscled, moved with drive. Time should allow her to mature and body out.
