NORTHERN NEWFOUNDLAND CLUB

OPEN SHOW

SATURDAY 5TH AUGUST 2023

JUDGE: KAREN FITZSIMMONS (LANLEADANE)

Thank you to the Committee for inviting me to judge your wonderful breed and for making me so welcome. I had fabulous stewards, which helped make the show run so smoothly. The biggest thank you has to be to the exhibitors, who turned out in the most awful weather and for presenting their dogs in such great condition. I was really pleased with the quality of the dogs shown and temperaments were superb. I really enjoyed my day, thank you.

DOGS

Veteran (1 entry)

1. Lloyd’s Carlos Cancrimo (IMP POL) ShCM

This 9 year old white and black is an absolute credit to his owners and was shown in fabulous condition. He is not the biggest, but has so many positive attributes. He has a very pleasing head with a broad skull, short clean muzzle and excellent eyes and expression. He is well off for bone and is well angulated front and rear. Still strong in topline and no weakness whatsoever in the rear. He moved steadily and soundly in all directions. I was delighted to award him BEST VETERAN IN SHOW.

Minor Puppy (1 entry)

1. Morgan’s Darkcove Another Brick In The Wall

This 7 month old young man is just what one would expect at this age. His head properties are developing well and has good eyes. He was enjoying his time in the ring, but once he settled, he is well balanced front and rear. Good topline. Well off for bone and good feet. He moved soundly in all directions and although stood alone was worthy of his first place and BEST PUPPY DOG.

1. Leech’s Nandobears Yabba Dabba Do at Mileoak (IMP DEU)

This 12 month old very promising young male caught my eye as soon as he entered the ring. He is so very well balanced and well proportioned. He has a delightful head with good width to skull and short muzzle. He has good eyes and fabulous expression. He is well off for bone and has good feet. He has good width and depth to chest and is well muscled throughout. He has a good lay of shoulder and well angulated rear with strong hocks. He really comes into his own on the move and is ultra sound in all directions and has good reach and drive. He continued to impress despite some strong competition from the other classes and I was delighted to award him top honours and he surely must have a very bright future. Presented and handled so well. Many congratulations to his owners and breeder. BEST DOG, BEST BLACK DOG, BEST IN SHOW AND BEST BLACK IN SHOW

2. Kingham’s Nandobears You Only Live Once

Litter brother to the winner and has much to like about him. Very pleasing in head with width to skull and muzzle. Good eyes and kind expression. Well off for bone and substance. Currently not as well balanced as his brother and did not quite have the same movement on the day, but was sound in all directions.
