Dorset County Canine Society

Dorset County Canine Society Sunday 23rd, July 2023.

Congratulations on your 80th anniversary Show, I was honoured to be a part of it. You have a committee with great synergy. I spent the day with dogs and dog people even the weather behaved on show day! What more could I wish for, well good dogs to judge for one, I was not disappointed.

Many thanks to my two ring stewards who kept things running along smoothly and with smiles. You both really enhanced my day.

Border Terrier

PGD/B (1) 1st. Whisker & May’s THISTLESTONE WINTERS GOLD What a girl to start the day with! Grizzle, well balanced with a lovely outline, good head & expression, a smaller girl but showing strength and suppleness, harsh jacket, loose pelt easily spannable. Moved soundly, very well presented. Congratulations on your later BPIS win Well deserved. BP PG1

OD/B (1) 1st. Tanton-Joy’s ORANGEBOX A NEW HOPE AT ITSASO. Very typy Quality balanced head with strong muzzle good eye & ear. Easy to span, coat of good texture coming. Liked her profile, moved with drive and ease. Shown well. BOB.

OD/B (2) 1st. Rodgers’s ONLY YOU DU MANOIR SAINT ADRIEN AT LUNAFOX (imp fra) Mother & daughter to sort out. Good head & expression, lovely body shape & bone. Good topline & tailset. BOB G2

2nd. Rodgers’s LUNAFOX GENTLE TOUCH I enjoyed sorting these two out. I preferred 1st.s head properties but this girl can move! Very good body lines and topline which she held on the move.

Staffordshire Bull Terrier

SYD/B (2,1a) 1st. Constant’s SIHAISTAFF CASK STRENGTH Lovely black brindle, gorgeous head with a melting expression. Good width to chest, straight front, level topline great body condition moved well wanting to please her handler. BP PG2

OD/B (5,3a) 1st. Mitchell’s CHEDANSTAFF DEVIL STAR Masculine black brindle, good head & expression. Good ears set well. Good forehand well-muscled body, strong in loin. When he got his act together he moved well with purpose. BOB. G4

2nd. Squibb’s SIKAISTAFF COZ I’M HAPPY Very typy feminine bitch. Lovely head dark eye & expression. Good angulation fore & rear quarters. Moved ok.

OD/B (1) 1st. Owen’s EGREMONT MALE ORDER Super typy dog shown in excellent jacket. Good head neck & topline. Can stand a little lazy sometimes but moves well. BOB G3

PD/B (4,3a) 1st. Pawson & Mantle’s AZ4 GELODNEA DYLAN AZ4 A smart Sealyham Terrier of 7 months very raw at the moment. He needs time to fill his frame which is of good shape. Lovely head with domed skull, dark eye, strong muzzle & good bite. Good white clean coat which was very well presented. Handler needs to move him at the correct speed to show him to advantage. Which in later classes she did. Well done. PG3

YD/B (3,1a) 1st. Nixon’s TOUT NOUVEAU TOUT BEAU DU CLAN DES PETITS COLONELS KARMARISTOL (IMP FRA) Smart Brindle Scottish Terrier dog. Masculine head, lovely neck & shoulders. Very good body condition, ribs carried well back, powerful rear quarters & level topline. Coat & furnishings very well presented. Moved powerfully & with purpose.

2nd. Waycott’s ARCHETYPE TOSHERDOON FOR WAYBULLY Bull Terrier Well conditioned Red & white bitch. Lovely head properties that had strength but also femininity. Power in the rear quarters but could not match the movement of 1st.

OD/B (7, 2a) 1st. Charleton’s HOUSE OF SOFTY INDUS (IMP SWE) SCWT Lovely sized dog of no exaggerations. He is balanced showing happily with head and tail up and when he moves he shows his character & humour. He has a lovely masculine head, clean neck & shoulders. Level topline strong rear quarters which he uses to drive effortlessly across the ground. His coat is the crowning glory, beautiful coloured loose curls soft in texture. Presents the perfect picture. 2nd. Joy’s BYZANTINE BROUHAHA Bull Terrier (Miniature) A picture of strength in miniature, lovely head, using her ears, expressive eyes. Clean shoulders, broad chest, good legs & feet. Muscular hindquarters. Moved so soundly.
