North Of Scotland Toydog Society

Breed: Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

North of Scotland Toy Dog 5th November 2023

Thank you for the invite to Judge at your lovely well run show. Hospitality on arrival was great and I enjoyed a Scottish pancake with my cuppa. I would like to thank my two able stewards Graham and Graham for helping me to stay me on track. I thoroughly enjoyed my day and I was delighted to see my Best Puppy take group 3 and my best of breed take group 4. Thank you to the Scottish exhibitors who came out to support me, it was really appreciated.

Class 64 Puppy (4/7)

1st Sims’ Llapstram the Soprano at Taayhar -Absolutely loved this 11 month puppy boy. Wonderful head shape that is still developing, with a correct bite, dark eyes and correct ear set that were well feathered and a very sweet expression. I was most impressed by his correct bone and substance. He had very well sprung ribs and lovely angles fore and aft. He has a lovely coat developing and I look forward to watching him develop. In the challenge for best dog he went round the ring so soundly holding his topline and I could deny him BP as well as BD nudging him ahead of the lovely junior boy. I later watched him gain puppy group 3 on the live feed.

2nd Waters’ Sweetbriar A Singer – sweet puppy and only 7 months old with a gorgeous disposition. Lovely head coming, dark eyes, lovely silky well broken coat, and good ribs. She had lovely feet and an ever wagging tail- another I will watch with interest.

Class 65 Junior (1/3)

1st Gow’s Legolas Aldaha Gold at Lyncraeg - Stood alone but he is a quality junior boy full of type with the loveliest expression and knows how to use his ears to advantage. He had great shoulders and ribs Lovely head and eye, well broken coat and has a truly silky well broken coat with great depth of colour. He moves well when settled, settling him is the problem ! On another day when he shows his qualities to advantage he should trouble the boys in his class at championship level. Unfortunately today he lost out to BD by the puppy who put in the more settled performance.

Class 66 Post Graduate

1st Tremain’s Bonitos Companeros First Class – and isn’t she indeed ! Loved her, sweet endearing expression, lovely symmetrical blaze and lovely head shape and nice dark eyes. However, what really took my eye was her lovely outline and topline and a well turned out coat with broken markings. She is well bodied with great ribs too. Lovely angles and width of thigh. Has a really good front, although she moves freely and holding her topline, I just wanted more drive from behind to complete the picture. Unfortunate to meet such an outstanding b*tch when challenging for BB. Without doubt she was my RBOB.

2nd White’s Sweetest of All at Carleny -Lovely eyes and correct bite, well ribbed body and a lovely silky coat. Moved ok.

Class 67 Limit

1st Water’s Byermoor Curtain Call – When I started in the breed circa 2015 I loved this much loved and dearly missed breeders dogs, presentation and handling. What an unexpected thrill to find out I had judged one of his dogs who now resides in Scotland. Absolutely stunning bi*ch and doesn’t she know it ! Giving her handler a hard time on the table. Her eyes are dark round and give the most beautiful expression. She came alive on the move, such a wonderful outline and perfect size , her grace and elegance made my heart skip a beat. Such a lovely neck, well ribbed and superb angles and width of thigh. She moved so true, owning the ring and I was thoroughly taken with her. BOB and I later watched gain Group 4 on a live feed after my long journey home .

2nd Gow’s Lyncraeg Little Pip – Lovely typey Blenheim whose movement is a bit erratic and therefore some of her beauty was lost. She has lovely bone, eyes and ribs and a lovely well broken silky coat.

Class 68 Open Dog

Two lovely veterans here

1st Byers’s Braemarra Taylor at Linetive- A stallion of a Blenheim, who I have a memory of judging at a pre covid appointment. He has a typical Cavalier profile, Sweet expression, lovely outline and very good ribs and nice width of thigh, he looked great as he moved around in profile.

2nd White’s Carleny Diamond Button – a gentleman with really soulful eyes, excellent profile movement and well broken Blenheim coat, notes say, adores his Mum.

Class 69 Open Bitch

1st Bonitos Companeros First Class – see post graduate

2nd Sweetbriar La De Daa – sweet with a hint of naughtiness this balanced and short coupled bitch is well ribbed and has a good width of thigh and an ever wagging tail a real sweetheart. Just couldn’t match the settled movement of the class winner today.
