Flatcoated Retrievers

I would like to thank Waverley Gundog Association for the invitation to judge at their November show. I am

very fortunate to have such a lovely entry of dogs and want to thank all exhibitors for entering on the day.

Especially those who were on their second day of showing in Scotland. Many thanks also to my steward Richard who kept the ring running smoothly.

Puppy (4/2)

Both these puppies could change places easily on different days and have very promising careers ahead of them. I look forward to watching them mature.

1. Kvicksans The Master Piper at Bluewaters (IMP SWE). 10 month old dog. Beautiful one piece head leading into clean forechest. Gradual spring of rib with correct topline. Strong rearquarters. Feet could be a little tighter. He is a confident showman with outstanding side profile in movement. BP.

2. Tallistar Midnight Ash. 10 month old dog. Lovely kind head with melting expression. His cheeky character shines through. Well made in the ribs, loin and topline. In top coat condition and balanced throughout. Not the movement of 1.

Junior (5/3)

1. Tallistar Midnight Ash. See Puppy 2.

PajanBeck One Moment in Time. Just under 16 month bitch. Sweet head with tight ears. Chest deep and body well ribbed. She has a lovely overall feminine outline and moves well. Her experience will grow with age.

Special Yearling (6/3)

1. Bitcon Alliance with Bluewaters (AI) JW. 20 month old dog who I’ve had the pleasure of judging before. Maturing just as he should. His pleasing head leads down into well laid back shoulders. Body well ribbed holding a level topline. He covers the ring with ease with his flowing movement.

2. Tallistar Midnight Ash. See Puppy 2.

Graduate (4/1)

1. Aricdell Kraienkoppe. 2 year old bitch who is feminine throughout. Nicely moulded head with a kind expression, set on good neck. Strong topline with lovely coat condition. Hindquaters well muscled which compliments her correct rear movement.

2. Llantrussa Winter Dreams at Badcall. 2 and a half year old bitch. Pleasant head. Correct lay of shoulder. Holds a true topline with lovely angles throughout. Moves out soundly on good legs and feet.

Limit (1/4)

1. Rachanmill Colombo. This nearly 5 year old dog has the full package and his outstanding sound movement couldn’t be faulted. Lovely masculine head with deep dark eye gives him a melting expression. Forequarters true, well ribbed with gradual spring leading through to well-muscled hind quarters. Coat in fine condition and tail well set on. Model feet! He holds his topline effortlessly standing and on the move. Handled to perfection, this boy should continue onto top awards. BOB then went onto group 4.

Open (3/1)

1. 2. Sh Ch Caci’s The Dream Catcher at Badcall. 5 year old bitch. Super feminine head with nice tight ears. Clean neck leading into deep chest. Well ribbed with a gradual spring. Correct topline with pleasing rear quarters. Her coat fully furnished and in great condition. This girl is reluctant to give her full potential and I do hope her handler can sway her otherwise.

2. Wistaston The Black Diamond. This 8 year old dog was out to enjoy his day to the fullest. Giving no regards to his handler in true flatcoat style. Stronger than desired head for me. Body short and square holding a level topline. Good bone and substance throughout. Moved well.
